It can potentially hit $60 mill in the U.S. and close way over $100 mill overseas. Hopefully means we've got at least one more Tom Clancy based film incoming.

So is Paramount satisfied with the OW figure? Or will they be rebooting the franchise yet again several years down the road?

They could try a Netflix or cable series and explore the entire Jack Ryan/John Clark universe.

I think this film was poorly marketed from the start. Just calling it Jack Ryan didn't set the tone for the campaign, adding Shadow Recruit wasn't much better. The first trailer was lame and then they thought it would do well at Christmas and then MLK Weekend against 3 new films plus Christmas holdovers. This weekend would've been a better launch. It would've died in North America if it came out on Christmas.

Saw this today. I liked it enough. Enjoyed Pine, Costner and Branagh 7.5/10

Finally watched this. Can't really believe how long it took me. Really liked it. The opening is a bit to "all over the place", but once they get to the "present" and especially Moscow, the film really picks up. Branagh shot his scenes in a completely different way. Far more dramatic. All the different shots of him walking on the bridge. :funny:

I really get a kick out of Pine's bewildered look when something goes down. You'd think he just learned Vader was Luke's father for the first time every time. :hehe:

Really liked everyone in it and of course Keira stole the show for me. I would love a sequel, the last five minutes sealed. We will see what happens. :)

Pine was really good in the role. I think he is definitely leading man material

I DO feel bad for Chris Pine because it's not his fault. I don't blame him for taking on Jack Ryan.

My soul. That is what you two have taken from me.

Octoberist, do you laugh just like Nelson from the Simpsons?

Of course. He'll have all those sturdy DVD inserts to keep himself warm at night.

You can use DVD cases for quite a few things. Great as doorstops and balancing your table.

Sadly, this will probably blow Pine's chance at a Jack Ryan franchise through no fault of his own.

Although I can't feel too bad for him, considering he's still got Star Trek.
