Jackman Wants To Start January 08

If my memory serves me well Hugh Jackman said they were going to have a director by the end of the year (2006). Well its now 2007 already and still no director. Are they going to wait until the last minute to sign someone just like they did on X3 and give that person little or no time to prep the movie?

Well, it is only the third of the month, :woot: and maybe they do have a director and are simply not announcing it yet.

^^I hope both of you are right. I hate reading interviews with X-cast and crew where they say something cool had to be left out because of time or budget constraints.Even though i'd prefer an X4 first i really want this spinoff to be made in the best circumstances possible so that also means giving the director enough time to prepare.

Apparently Hugh Jackman has already started filming that epic with Nicole Kidman so it'd appear he'd be free to start Wolverine earlier than expected.

"Australia" (the epic) has not started filming - the press got it wrong (surprise!). The reported sightings were from a pre-production workshop that took place a week before Christmas, not actual filming. That doesn't start until March. As a matter of fact, I thought "The Tourist" was done filming, but I just read today that they are going to Madrid to do some more.

Thanks for the info.:yay: The press were waaaay off.

They should just push Wolverine to 2009. It goes with the whole '3 year break' thing the X-films have had anyways. But then again, 'Wolverine' will likely take less time to film, and less special effects, so they can get it out a lot quicker than the X-films (if they wanted to).

I don't think the release date is "set in stone" - and a lot of the 2008 "prime" dates are being taken up quickly. If it starts filming in January 2008 I definitely see a 2009 release date. I guess a lot depends on when filming actually starts and what month they want to release it in. I know Hugh's movie "The Prestige" ended filming in April and it was in theaters in October so assuming "Wolverine" isn't big on special effects I guess it could be in theaters that quickly.

That's an awesome avatar, a1ant! :yay:

Maybe Fall 2008, if they start in January? If it's going to be a smaller movie, that could be possible.

won't Jackman be 40 something as well ? Too old !

39, 40, what's the difference. He'll be 39 in October so somewhere along the line he will be 39 while filming it, whether it starts in September or January.

it makes a dif cuz I think he is too old now...Logan is weathered sure but also in hella good shape.

answer:recast.

Besides, H.J. protrayed Logan 'Light' , give it to someone with teeth.

You're telling me this isnt hugh in good shape?!? :wow:

Hugh can bulk up to that size in a few months as he's proved time and time again.

He's not too old to be wolverine and he had to play as you call it "logan light" because of the rating of the movie. Hugh is perfect as wolverine, he can pull off any role given to him. Yes if the rating of the movie was increased then he'd get the chance to play the true, dark wolverine but it looks like thats not going to happen. Im happy with what we have, it would suck if they recast!

Huh.

Often poke fun at the silly movieverse Wolvie poses.

But this one's actually pretty cool. :wow:

40 is the new 30,Jackman could easily make a trilogy,he lives healthy:cwink:

Here we go narrows:

"Brett Ratner took over the "X-Men" franchise when he directed 2006's "The Last Stand," so now fans of the mutants are wondering: Will he direct Hugh Jackman in the "Wolverine" spinoff? "If they hire me," he explained this week, hoping he'll get the gig. "I loved making 'X-Men' — it was the greatest experience of my life." Nevertheless, Ratner is still hung up on the fact that he ended up switching franchises with "Superman Returns" director Bryan Singer, and wants a do-over. "What I think we should do is I can go do 'Superman 2' and Bryan Singer can do 'Wolverine' and 'Magneto,' " he offered. "I'm just putting it out there." ... "

Oh god please let this happen....

Thanks! I have no idea why I have trouble with that MTV site - I tried Firefox and IE browsers both at home and work and none worked!

I thought I read somewhere that we should hear something in February???....

Personally i'd rather see a fresh vision in the directors chair to separate it from the X movies

Yeah that would be great. I just dont want Ratner doing it, he'd make a complete mess of it :csad:
