how popular is Mysterio in the Spidey comics? Like in his rogue gallery, where does he rank?

Well he’s a classic villain and one of the sinister six so quite up there. But most people kind of see him as campy which I don’t think is 100% fair. Maybe in the top 15 spidey villains?

Gotta admit, he looks great! I wasn't expecting them to go with something so classic. Definitely looks like an MCU Mysterio though. It looks like it's made outta chitauri tech like Vulture and Shocker were.

I don’t see Marvel shying away from the fishbowl. Marvel has earned the right, with mainstream movie goers, to stick as close to the source material no matter how outlandish it is when it comes to costume designs IMO. Which is why I personally can’t wait for the MCU’s X-Men and Fantastic Four.

If anything, I'd say Marvel has primed audiences to expect costume changes and a not so stringent adherence to the comic book look.
For example, the vulture, Whiplash, Ghost, Baron Zemo.

Mostly really digging it, except all the Chitauri/recent-Iron-Man lighting up shiz. Really hope they're not "tech"ing him, some sort of alien power source or scavenged & altered Chitauri stuff.

Didn't expect the beard, but that's a cool look. Cape's pretty epic.

I'd really have to think we are getting the fishbowl (even if they've tinkered with it somehow) in some form, given how awesomely Liberace crazy the look here is. They definitely look to be embracing how he's a totally different type of villain to Vulture, just running with the weirdness and not holding back.

This might be final battle stuff, Pete's managed to knock his block off quite literally and - shock horror - it's just this dude inside, can't fool anybody anymore, all the mystery's gone.

Or he could be just taking it off between shots because wearing a goldfish bowl on your head makes it difficult to see/breath/hear and probably isn't very comfortable.
