When is the last time that Bond's class played a major role in these films? Because it certainly hasn't during the Brosnan/Craig eras. There's nothing in Brosnan or Craig's Bond that scream's "I need to be a white guy."

Yeah, about him being an orphan and how his parents deaths shaped him. Also, his having a chip on his shoulder because he DIDN'T come from money (Vesper's words) and is overcompensating with the fancy suits, watches, etc. And his family home is run down. It screams "our family may have been rich at one time, but hasn't been in a long time.'

I mostly agree with what you're saying, but somewhat iffy on that last statement. People of one white ethnic group play members of other white ethnic groups regularly in movies. For instance, Falcone and Maroni were played by non-Italians in BB and TDK. I mean, the list goes on and on there. Not to mention people become more mixed and diverse as time goes on. You're certainly right about why the characters are Anglo to the core, but I'd like like to think at some point in the future these roles won't be solely reserved for actors with the 'purest' genes.

I think if an actor reasonably looks the part and more importantly is a good actor, they're fair game to be considered.

If the story of moses can be completely white washed for film, James Bond can be played by a Black Man, so long as he can play the part.

Part of me hopes Idris would end up playing Bond, just so we can see fanboys blow a gasket over nothing again, just like when Daniel was cast.

I really don't care if they case Elba as Bond. In fact, in this post-Ferguson country, I wouldn't be surprised if he is cast either. But to say that the race of Bond doesn't matter is just foolish. Its progressiveness for the sake of progressiveness, which is just pointless.

At best I see him being another Craig, in that he's an unconventional choice but has the charm and chops to pull the role off.

And while Craig has shot to the top of my list of Bonds, I'm still waiting for Connery's modern day equivalent. Idris is not that man, and he'll be too old by the time he gets his chance.

We should be looking for the next inspired choice, not the obvious and stunt-casting flavored one.

Black or White, Idris has the right qualifications to play Bond, thats why there are people out there who want to see him in the role.

No im sorry but as a black british guy i want bond to stay white. Hollywood need to stop race swapping everything. It brings unessary heat on black people and negativity, just because a few folks want to upset the established order, just because these roles are swapping for black roles don't think we are jumping for joy with this pc bullcrap. Sorry Batman should of edited my wording in that sentance but in my circle of friends and family we don't like what hollywood and the general outlook are doing . My mother who is a quite a fan of the original ANNIE refuses to go see the remake due to her origin and race change. As she put it " just trying to appeal to a 21st century audience,showing how black people have come up in the world since the original ".

Apparently we need to change the races and backgrounds of well established characters just to say" the world has changed for the better " is aload of bullcrap. I don't like it , you can have a black MI6 agent or Villian alongside Bond but changing him to a black character is not going to cut it. Everyone will jump on it like hot pancakes on a sunday morning. It will just reveal that Racism is still alive and kicking, tabloids, forums, chatshow/news will jump on the bandwagon which will once again put black folks in the negative limelight. Brocolli would roll in his grave,rest his soul.

Apparently as long as the character started out as white you can change them any which way you want because their the only type that are not defined by anything unlike characters of any other color.

But see...some people want Idris Elba to be James Bond because...he would be good for the role. Not because he is black and Sony/MGM want to be relevent. He shouldn't be cast as Bond just for his race....and he shouldnt be denied the role just because of his race either.

The only good reason why Idris shouldn't be Bond is because of his age. Any other reasoning is, IMO, BS.
