Poor Keanu. I will help spread awareness of this glorious occasion.

I would love a movie where there's a cult devoted to Keanu or nick cage

Back on topic of bond. I think a movie where he loses his memory would be interesting. It would have to elevate itself from looking like a regular 45 minute episode

Or perhaps the concept is too episodic. Something you'd see on tv

I love Idris Elba but I dont want a black Bond because Bond isnt supposed to be black. It's like making Blade a white guy, that would be dumb too.

You know what I wanted? For Lazenby to do Diamonds Are Forever :argh:

Yikes, that's a scary thought. More Lazenby? No, thanks.

Now Connery doing On Her Majesty's Secret Service would've made that film a near masterpiece.

I honestly have trouble seeing Connery's Bond pulling off the more emotional scenes.

I think Lazenby was the worst, but even then he was still serviceable and with time would have grown into the role. Plus DAF would have been a better film with the OHMSS connection that Lazenby would have provided.

I thought Lazenby was good and would definitely get better the more he became comfortable in the role

Agreed although I'm not sure even Connery could've pulled off crying the way Lazenby did. He nailed that scene perfectly.

The president of Syfy is a dumbass. Should be renamed the wrestling channel. The Stargate property is pretty much dead with the SGU characters in stasis forever. What kind of ending is that!

I've still got a bone to pick with them for cancelling Caprica!

Idris Elba

Not as Bond, but I think he would be perfect as a Mr. Big-like villain even moreso with Michael Duncan's unfortunate passing (my original choice). His brief role in American Gangster can vouch for this.

It still amazes me how Lazenby tricked his way into getting the role. And the producers and director bought into it.

Random dude just walks in off the street and tricks the producer and fakes his way in the role.

Elba can play a villain. We haven't had a Black villain since....Mayday?
Well there were black villains in Casion Royale. The Parkour bomb maker as well as the African warlord and his henchman.

I could see Elba as a modern day Red Grant type villain or shady business mastermind character like Stringer Bell
It's probably as ridiculous as people that wanted glover for spider-man

They should just cast Glover as Randy Robertson, make him Peters friend who introduces Peter to his father Robbie and gets him a job as a photographer at the Daliy Bugle.

How so? I thought the producers saw him a commercial and casted him based on that (his looks primarily) with the intention of making an unknown actor a big star to try to recreate the success they had with Sean Connery?

I've been pondering Scaramanga these last few days

The film wasn't great overall, but despite that and the other 200 films, he's done, The Man With The Golden Gun is my Christopher Lee role.

Have we reached the point where Kayne West or P Diddy chime in claiming they want to be Bond?

Or Kim Kardashian saying she wants to play a Bond girl?

:cmad:

Daniel Craig said he thinks Steven Gerrard has all the qualities to play Bond and "who knows what could happen in the future" :cwink:

Hmm, not so sure about that one but Alex certainly looks like a Bond girl.

Black don't crack baby...

Either way i'm just happy that he is on the radar for eon, to be fair assuming craig is done by 2016 elba would be 44. I've mentioned this in another comment but the likely next bond is someone we're not even that familiar with at the moment.

Craig was a wildcard and i predict the next bond will be as well.

True.

But given how people reacted with Craig being blond, I doubt we will see a black actor playing Bond anytime soon!

You guys know, two different black actors have been cast as Felix previously. So I mean . . . that's there. M became a woman with Judi Dench in 1995.

When its supporting characters its slightly more palatable to people for some reason.

Honestly, I wouldn't be opposed to the casting if it was someone of Elba's caliber. But we are still a long way off and there's no way we see Elba playing the role with Craig locked up for two more pictures. By that point, Elba will already be too old.

I'd have less of an issue with Elba as Bond if I thought he was the best choice, period, for the role, in terms of the best actor. I just don't see it.

I'd just like to see Elba in a Bond film. Either a villain or someone that helps him.

The new Bond documentary that premiered on EPIX a few weeks ago "Everything or Nothing: The Untold Story of 007" went through the history of the franchise from flemming to skyfall. Thay had Lazenby on during the segment about his film and he talked about it in detail. He had no acting experience or anything and he ran past a secretary to get to one of the producers office. He lied his way through the interview making up roles hed done in china and various places they couldnt confirm. Then when he got to Harry he said he couldnt lie to him and confessed and Harry said he was a good enough actor if he could pull this off and they hired him then and there.

Sam Mendes Bond special on the culture show was pretty good.

Top Gear is doing a Bond Car special on Monday.

The idea of Bond being black is plain silly, i'm sure it'll happen at some point but its a silly idea.

Just the same way Blade is black he should stay black.
