Just got done watching Goldfinger. Wow that Oddjob/Bond fight at the end is one of the worst I've ever seen.

The whole last act of Goldfinger is so noticably weaker then the rest of the film, it's one of the biggest reasons that makes me think Goldfinger is a itty bitty overrated (still love it, don't flame). Thunderball ftw when it comes to Connery Bond-films for me.

Love the big Bond hype surrounding the entertainment/movie world right now. It has convinced me to re-read all of Flemings books in order.

Also excited about Logan writing Bond 24 and 25 at the same time, with an overlapping arc.

Need. Fassbender. As. Bond.

Fassbender has said that "X-men first class" was basically a very expensive audition for bond

I know he's the fanboy crush at the moment but Fassbender doesn't need to been fan-casted in every single property in Hollywood.

Besides, Daniel Craig is doing just fine.

I love Goldfinger but yeah, I think the fight between Bond and Red Grant in 'From Russia with Love' resonated with me more than his fight with Oddjob. Which could have been awesome if it was choreographed better. More 'money shots'.

While many people have accepted him and love his portrayal of Bond, including myself, there's an equal amount who are still dismissive of him in the role, hence all this talk of 'who's gonna be the next Bond'. Is one thing to talk about who the next Bond is, but there's a crowd of online people are too gung-ho about it. It's incredibly passive aggressive.

Just got back and it was a really fun ride. It does suffer from the same thing Casino Royale suffers from though. A great buildup and two fantastic thirds, but then in the last third it kinda settles in and doesnt do anyhting anymore.

Altho, this one has a fantastic ending. (It's definately up there with TDKR as "best ending scenes" this year :awesome:)

I saw Skyfall this evening. Not going to give a spoilery review yet as most people have not seen it yet. I loved it. Easily Craig's best Bond movie. Judi Dench was brilliant. Her best M performance. Bardem was a great scenery chewing villain. My only complaint is the lack of a strong leading Bond lady.

Great movie, one of the best. Still has not topped Goldfinger for me though.

Okay I don't know what happen but my account got banned without any explanation after I made a comment in this topic yesterday. My username was Shadowboxer. I was a little harsh in my opinions on the subject of Elba as Bond but I did apolgize it my following post. However it seems that I was banned and I have never caused problems on this site before. What gives?

I think there is a difference between fancasting Fassbender in other franchises and wanting to see him as Bond. I love Craig and I can't wait to see him build upon Skyfall and see how he plays the older, world weary Bond of the later novels in his final two Bond films.

However, ever since Inglorious Basterds, Fassbender has been teasing us with what he could do with Bond. It doesn't hurt that he is the spitting image of Bond as Ian Fleming pictured him. As well, he even speaks the same languages as literary Bond. (English, German, and I think French(?)) I would love to see a Bond film where Bond actually puts his language skills to use while spying. On top of that, you are talking about someone who is a phenomenal actor and incredibly charismatic.

Consequently, I don't think it is fair to criticize people who are intrigued by the possibility of Fassbender as Bond in such a way. On paper, Fassbender is the perfect Bond. It's only natural for people to be curious.

I have a feeling Fassbender's success will rule him out. He's going to do "Assassins Creed" and then we have the upcoming "First Class" sequel

By 2014/2015 people probably won't consider him.

I see Fassbender completely differently after Shame. People who have seen that movie will know.
I agree he could be a good Bond, but for now I'm enjoying a lot Daniel Craig's portrayal.

First thing....if you have a problem like this, you Pm a mod or an Admin and ask them...NOT make some random post in a thread.

For now, you are on probation with this name while I figure out what is going on....which means you may wind up being banned anyway after I investigate. Until then, I really suggest you read this part of the FAQ -

Violations of Probations and Banning
If you are on probation, you may not post under any account for the amount of days for which you are on probation. Violation of this probation will result in the permanent banning of your ORIGINAL account (permanent loss of entire post count, avatars, etc.,) and an extension of your probation to your NEW name. Continued violation of this rule may result in IP banning. If you are permanent banned, you may not return to Hype. Note: the Administrators and Moderators can tell if you hold more than one account.

Wouldn't it be crazy if the reason why Matthew Vaughn dropped out of X-Men was for Bond 24 with his buddy Daniel Craig.

He dropped out to work on an adaptation of Mark Millar's The Secret Service, which I gather from the panels I've seen involving a dark haired gentleman in a grey three-piece suit and a silver sports car with hidden missiles is quite Bondian.

It hasn't been confirmed with his involvement with Secret Service. Just speculation..

Vaughn with fassbender

Vaughn with Craig

Either team would be gold. Mendes was also a stellar choice. I hope Craig gets some input on who he'd want to have as director next

Oh, the site I read the news on reported it as fact that Vaughn opted to work on developing The Secret Service instead. Now that I looked at the original Deadline report that was cited, it seems the telephone game is alive and well in internet journalism.

I just don't see an established star taking on the role of bond. Bond has always been cast with someone who was sort of under the radar or was not a major star yet.

Someone who is already established and/or a rising star i.e Fassbender is not going to want to sign the multi-film contracts that eon requires of them, not to mention the little side aspects of the contracts.

Did you know as part of brosnan's contract he could not appear in any other film wearing a tuxedo? Pretty silly eh? but Eon is very controlling. Not to mention out of the 6 bond actors i believe 4 of them have had some sort of falling out with eon and the brocolis. Which is pretty much why only moore has taken part in any of the 50th anniversary festivities.

This is also why i never see nolan directing a bond film the control aspect.

To all you nice Brits who have seen the film, I was wondering about one thing (probably the one thing I don't care if it's spoiled)...

Does the gunbarrel scene appear at the beginning of the film like traditional Bond films, or does it appear at the end of the film like Quantum of Solace?

It appears at the end, but it does so fantastically and it really fits there, considering the last scene in the movie.

The opening scene in the movie is a great substitution to the gun barrel, so dont worry :)

^^It is a bit strange though - it that hows it going to go from here on in? I wonder.

Anyways, going to see SF this afternoon. Cant wait!!!!!!!

That's one thing I hate,
it should be at the beginning not other way around.

CR doesn't do anything in the last third?

The Bond and Lynd stuff made me tear up and the Venice setting with the collapsing building is great stuff.

Can't wait to see Skyfall, gonna be next week for me.

If this is the way they're doing all the Craig films, then I'm okay with it :)

It works where it is in Skyfall. [BLACKOUT]The opening scene wouldn't have made the same impact it did if it had the gun barrel before it. And the ending "umpf" wouldn't have made the same impact it did if the gun barrel scene wasn't there after it.[/BLACKOUT]

Not to me it didn't. Never liked the Bond giving up and wants to settle down stuff, and Vespers demise could have been done way quicker and it had made a larger impact than it did now with the superfluous chase and shoot-out in Venice.

Fair enough.
]When we meet Q he makes a reference to GoldenEye - exploding pen. Was that just a nod to the fans?

if they film the next 2 back to back then I want at least 1 more with DC after that before he is too old

think Im one of the only Bond fans around who really doesnt buy into the "Fassbender would be perfect as Bond" hype
