I really like English character actor John Schrapnel for Blofeld. He's in his 70s now, but he has a really hard edge.

If they do decide to bring back Blofeld then I hope they make him closer to the Fleming books; a guy who can actually put up a decent fight against Bond.

You know what Craig's movies need? A badass henchman like Oddjob and Jaws.

Le Chiffre didn't have one, Greene's was a bumbling type, Silva doesn't have one.

The next villain should have one. It'd be awesome.

Well Rapaces character kinda was like that in this though. But I agree that a real henchman would be great to see.

I'm not in a rush to see Blofeld again but Jason Issacs would be good in the role in my opinion.

I would rather they continue quantum storyline for now

Elba would be great as a Bond baddie.
Never seen Elba play a villain before. It would be intresting to see what Elba could do as a bad guy.

Seeing as some people want Elba for Bond how about making him a evil version of Bond.

A top assasain and spy except instead of doing it for his country his a mercenary. Might lead to some good ideological confrontations as well.

Patrice was another of what became a staple of Craig's movies: The guy being chased through an exotic location as a side mission that spearheads the real plot, joining the ranks of Mollaka and Craig Mitchell.

And it can't be obligatory either. No generic ones like Stamper. The last memorable 'weird henchmen' was sadly Zao. Looked cool but was underused and was in a bad movie.

I agree. I'd love to see Craig's Bond get menaced by some physically imposing henchman with some kind of unique quirk like Oddjob and Jaws had.

The diamonds in the face thing was so silly though lol.

Zao had the amazing car Chase so at least he got something. I always found Jaws to be cheesy and not that great of a henchman. My favorite was always Baron Samedi. I like that there's no henchmen, I'm much more of a fan of the bad guys taking Bond on head first and not sending there lackies to do it

Well just got back from seeing Skyfall and I have to say I think I have a new favourite Bond film. I absolutely loved it, easily a 9/10 for me. I went to see it last night but when me, my mate and his 2 brothers got there every screening was full except for one which meant sitting on the front row looking up getting neck ache so we booked the tickets for tonight instead. I don't think I've ever seen a cinema so packed and I've never been before and not been able to see the movie of my choice that night. I think it might be popular. Anyway I loved it and I think Daniel Craig is now my favourite Bond. Long may he continue in the role....

spidey-dude,

Does Mallory smoke a pipe? Also, what is his military background? It's mentioned in my Bond on Set book. Is he an Admiral? :cwink:

No Mallory does not smoke a pipe during the film. His military background is he was a Lietenant Colonel in the Hereford regiment as Bond puts it. I would assume the Hereford Regiment is the SAS.

So, as a prep, I've been watching the bond movies over again.

Today, I managed (somehow) to sit through Die another Day, and Man w/golden gun. I still say D.A.D. is good up until the 50 minute mark. Then it gets worse and worse and worse. I'd still say it's pretty mediocre at best, but not the worst of the series (Moonrake, imo). Things that elevate it, are the sword fight scene (take out madonna though), Arnold's score, and Brosnan really trying his best, despite being given crap to work with. 5/10

Man w/ the Golden Gun - I dislike this more than I remember. The only redeeming quality is Christoper Lee. If you think Brosnan's movies were corny, take a re-look at some of the cheese in this one. Never knew that all you had to do was grab a sumo wrestler's buttcheeks and then proceed to give him a wedgie to defeat him. The climax is great, I'll give it that. But this is one that I will probably never legitimately enjoy. 4/10

Up next : For Your Eyes Only, Goldeneye, and (at least try to finish) YOLT.

This is getting an odd reaction. I keep seeing lots of high praise, and then I see a few people giving it 6/10. Nothing else. Just 6/10 or mindblowing.

One thing I'm curious about is that I've read that this film goes with the From Russia With Love formula instead of the Goldfinger formula which has become the staple formula. Is this why some are finding it disappointing?
It reminded me more of Goldfinger than FRWL. I would say:

30% You Only Live Twice
25% On Her Majesty's Secret Service
20% Goldeneye
15% Casino Royale
10% Goldfinger

That's the Skyfall equation. :word:

Oh, and would anyone happen to have any GOOD covers (fanmade) for the goldeneye bluray?

Thanks for that.

I have the Bond on Set book, so I've been aware that Mallory becomes the new M at the end of the film for quite some time and that his office as M is pretty much identical to Bernard Lee's M. As a result, I've been curious about how similar Gareth Mallory is going to be to Bernard Lee's Admiral Messervy. By the way, Englishman, is there any explanation of Mallory's office at the end of the film? Is it implied that MI6 moves into a new building in Whitehall and that the bunker was just temporary and Vauxhall Cross is gone for good?

Theres no explanation as to why they are using Mallorys office in Whitehall but there is a painting of the Vauxhall Cross building behind his desk. To me that implies that Vauxhall Cross is gone for good but I don't know. When Bond arrives at the bunker I think Tanner says its temporary because Vauxhall Cross can't be used due to the bomb going off but I can't remember.

Also I think Bond says that Mallory was in Northern Ireland and was held captive for 3 Months by the IRA.
