the BD version will have every deleted scene that was rendered and the pre-viz shots. so deleted scenes that were not finished.

the reason they are not i the new cut is becase................ they are crazy :oldrazz:

Got to be honest though it'll take more than 8 mins footage to get me to re-buy the movie on BD.

it will be more then 8 minutes and a lot of behind the scenes footage.

why did you buy the normal version in april? ;)

yeah I avoided the normal version just for the one thats coming later this year

heres a well made MV that I found a while ago

That's weird, because I can think of at least two previous big movies that had a virtually identical plot and themes. If people don't get the same story told over and over again, maybe Hollywood should try something new?
So you don't get it either.

No, it wasn't anything new plot-wise. But there was something very different about it. Try and guess what that was.

Same here, although i must admit i was very tempted to cave in, but my high quality bootleg helped me stay strong :cwink::hehe:

I cant wait to get the set that comes out later this year though :woot:

People "get" Avatar. It's a pretty simple concept, that has been done to absolute death many times before...the entire story is a step by step remake of stories we've all seen before. The film is hardly Eraserhead, where people have to "get" it...

And the "it made a billion dollars, it's obviously good" take is stupid. Most of the greatest musicians of all time died broke...while Lil Jeezy is a multimillionaire. Please, lets stop the "success = quality" argument forever, no matter what film we're talking about.

There is no defense for the story. It is not quality. You want to defend the CGI? Fine...to me it was blurry and cartoonish. I did not for one second believe I was watching anything but a cartoon. Many disagree with me.

I'm glad that some of you were entertained by the whizzes and bangs of a poorly done story. I am not among those people though.

Another person who doesn't get it.

I "get" what you're doing...using the argument of highbrows to defend the movie. The problem is that the argument doesnt fit this movie. The fact that you think it does really shows the level of person who appreciates the movie.

It is dumb entertainment, and not a single thing more. The "you dont get it" argument only works for brainy, complex or existential movies...not stupid action films.

This is hardly a Lars Von Trier movie...it's a brain dead Ferngully remake. hardly something you have to "get". Some people just prefer more than blue cartoon men jumping around to be entertained.

Can you be any more ostentatious? :whatever: .... The movie is not amazing but its entertaining. If you want to stay on your high horse and emphatically stress how much 'dumb entertainment' the film was, whatever. Just know its been said a million ever since this film was showing signs of making an outstanding amount of money at the box office.

Seriously, its like people think that the audience didn't know it was a light-hearted and very simple movie.

Do you consider yourself 'highbrow'?

Word.

I thought Avatar was straightforward as hell. I don't see what's not to get.

It's not about the plot. There's something else that people ignore. Something the film did so well that the criticisms the film does receive only proves how successful it was.

You're talking to a guy who counts Monsturd as one of his favorite films...so what do you think??

As far as movies go...I LOVE really bad horror films. I watch at least a few indie horror films a week. Heck, I watch WWE Raw every single week!!!!! Clearly my taste is not too demanding.

However, I also do like more challenging material. I think movies like Eraserhead are terrible, and the "you don't get it" thing is just to make some snooty people feel important. But there are movies that the mainstream seems to reject that are more intelligent, or hopelessly bleak, or complex that I have a lot of admiration for. Like Lars Von trier for instance...movies like Antichrist or Breaking The Waves can be considered crap by some...but I "get" them. A movie like Inception...which I openly admit to not fully grasping all the layers of after one viewing...is a movie you might have to "get".

There is room for all kinds of movies in my Netflix list. The difference is that I know which ones are "good" and which ones are "fun". A "fun" movie does not always mean it's a "good". Fans of Avatar often seem to think that the movie is "good". It most certainly is not. However...is it "fun"? Some would say that it is. I disagree with that. I think the movie is boring and poorly done. I was not thrilled by the action or CGI, and the script and characters were terrible. Flash Gordon is a fun sci fi movie that is not good. I LOVE Flash Gordon!!!! Avatar is not a fun movie (for me) nor is it good.

Ostentatious isn't the word you're looking for.

No. That's exactly the word I'm looking for.

Shhhhh...don't tell anyone.
:funny: Who am I kidding? This is the internet. Everyone loves thought-provoking films yet find it nearly incomprehensible how simple action/adventure films can appeal to so many demographics

I get why a simple action film would appeal to people. I simply dont "get" why a boring cartoon with bad acting and a recycled story could be considered a great movie.

There were about 5 seconds of Avatar where I felt thrilled or amazed. If I want to watch a dumb, simple action movie...I'd prefer it entertain me with it's dumbness for more than 5 seconds. It is below average, even as a dumb summer blockbuster type movie.

No it isn't.

Ostentatious is an adjective that describes an aesthetic thing, dude.

confusing isn't it? :o
I didn't know it was limited to only aesthetics. So fine...'contemptuous', better? My point is I don't know why people seem to have such a strong disdain for this film. I keep getting a feeling had it not been so successful, Avatar wouldn't get so much flack.

Wouldn't it just be easier to...you know...leave the 'Avatar' thread and stop talking about it?

I mean I 'got' how much you don't like the movie however many posts ago, so...there's really no need for you to elaborate on your stance more than you already have.

Clearly people liking 'Avatar' bothers you a lot so perhaps you should spare yourself from that pain and just not post in here anymore.

Hi,

few things :

- the guy said it made billion so it must be popular, he didn't said good or quality movie.
- blurry cgi : you should maybe check another theater :)
- cartoonish : the not-so-new-cool word to use to belittle stuff you ( general you ) don't like even if the product doesn't look a bit cartoonish

The story is light but the movie has heart ( at least for me ).

This movie is getting re-released on Blu-ray & DVD when?
