Superman Returns James Marsden Made the Right Decision

Did anyone else notice that "Richard White" was more like Cyclops than the Cyclops from the X-Men movies.

- He was a pilot
- A devoted boyfriend who was understanding
- A little aloof and hard to get to know
- A great leader who takes charge in conflict
and - is very likeable.

Yup.

You'll love it. We finally get Cyclops... just in a non-X-Men movie. :(

I did.

It's sad, really. I'm just PO at how much they messed up the Cyclops character, but what's done is done now.

Richard was amazing in SR.

This is too ironic, we get Cyclops in a Superman movie. What next? Wolverine in Little red riding hood?

it just amazed me....how much better this guy was than movie cyclops. Reminded me of claremont era scott. This just proves that Fox turned cyke into an unlikable dick on purpose to make logan look good.

See how the love triangle between supes, richard, and lois was done? Did anybody really say "lois needs to dump that ******* richard". THATS how the jean/scott/logan triangle shouldve been done

I heard some girls said "I wish I had a boyfriend like him(Richard)." and others just said both James and Routh were good-looking and willing to die for the same woman, Louis was the most lucky girl in the world.

man, Cyke was the best character in the whole movie. me an my buddies kept making xmen refernces the whole movie:

-look at Cyclops, him and superman are gonna have and eye beam fight.
-he knew they were coordinates from all that xmen training
-thats stil richards kid, he just has the mutant gene
-sure he's getting the sea plane, hes getting the x-jet

it was a riot, not to mention we figured out what really happened to scott in x3..
jean suppresed his optics, he saw that she was goin looney tunes, he skipped town to metro, changed his identity (richard white sounds like such a made up name) then he broke perry off with some of that dough Xavier left in his trust fund so he can go along with the ruse that prerry is scotts uncle, and finaly hooked up with lois . genious plan

How come you saw it already? Didn't you get x-3 like 10 years after the rest of the world?

Sounds... bittersweet. Still, better than nothing (which is what Cyke fans got in x-3).

I went with my sister and a female friend. All three of us wanted our own Richards.

They put X3 off for waiting Hugh Jackman to come here.

Did he? With Jackman leaving the X-men franchise, more likely than not to do Wolverine and other solo work...Mardsen could've moved into the leading man role for X-4 and possibly got a part of the gross in his contract.

What x-4? We won't see that in the next 10 years.
Also x-men are Hugh's bread and butter. He'll be doing x-men 12 if they'd let him.

why would fox give him part of the gross? Is James Mardsen an A-list star...no. Is cylcops the star of the movies..no. To be honest, they should of casted someone who actually was as tall as Hugh Jackman, and seemed to be his equal. Mardsen was to short[hes only 5 foot 10] and seemed like a little boy compared to the muscular and gruff wolverine.

Why don't you say that they cast someone too tall as Wolverine?

because they casted wolverine first, and then the guy who was orginally gonna play cyclops dropped out [he was like 6 foot 2]. Then they decided to go with James Mardsen.

Jackman was brought in when filming was already underway for X1. Yes, Jackman is technically too tall for the role, however, they were extremely fortunate that the particular casting worked out well.

But I never thought Hugh was that tall when I saw X1, it was a shock when I knew he was actually six foot 2 or 3, probably because of his muscles.

Naw, just creative camera angles.... :p And Marsden standing on a box.

Originally this guy (Jim Caviezial) was slated to play Scott Summers/Cyclops. He dropped out due to Frequency

Also this man (Glen Danzig) who is 5'6"...was the first one approached to play Wolverine, he turned it down do to concert conflicts

"good job marsden for creating and giving us an awesome character...???"

you people do know that all he did was read a script and act as he was told right?

Yeah, I've never been a James Marsden fan (mainly because I hated him as Cyclops) but after seeing him in SR, I'm starting to think he could have been a much better Cyke if the writing had been a little better.

Either way, SR was a much better movie than X-Mediocre: The Last Hurrah, and he was smart to cut out on that weak film.
