My thoughts:
- This next arc of CAPTAIN AMERICA #46 looks interesting. A reunion of Invaders? I wonder how Namor will take learning that Bucky is Cap, and has taken on the mantle. Namor and Cap were hardly friends, but there was some mutual respect. I am curious if Namor ever saw Buck as more than a sidekick. Anyway, this is looking interesting. Great covers, both regular and variant.
- GHOST RIDER #31 continues the story of Dan Ketch & the dark angel Zadkiel against Blaze and his allies. I guess Huat really is the regular artist now, and in a way I wish they could nab a better one. I am wondering how much longer GR can last sales wise, although I think the return of Ketch has provided a non-crossover bump. After all, it inspired a spin off mini, and GR hasn't had one of those in over a decade. Considering the movie was a blip, getting a new GR volume to last 3 years or longer could be considered an accomplishment for Marvel & Aaron. Shame he couldn't have launched it instead of Way, but, that's how the cookie crumbles. He's doing decent damage control.
- IMMORTAL IRON FIST #22 has another cool cover, and it looks like the title is in good hands without Brubaker & Fraction. Now if only Iron Fist could actually defeat an opponent of relevance in his own book, it'd be completely perfect.
- It doesn't surprise me that NEW WARRIORS is over with issue #20. The sales were below the Top 100 and obviously SI couldn't keep things spiked for long. The decompression, as well as characters few expected on the title, likely did it in. I still enjoyed the title, though, and it has been the longest lasting edition of NW's since the 90's, even if it included very few of the "original" members (at least for very long). Still, considering the editorial demand to keep the X-Men separated from the rest of Marvel, it at least got some ex-X's out in the open and given them some life without their powers or placement on X-Force or something. At least Grevioux is given some time to wrap things up, and I hope the conclusion is good. If anything, the title has done wonders for making Jubilee more tolerable.
- Is demand still there for SQUADRON SUPREME? Wasn't it about 3 years past it's prime? Ah, well, so is MARVEL ZOMBIES, and that keeps on truckin'.
- I love how Hollywood is so desperate that they are filming a KICK-ASS movie before the first damn arc has seen print. Don't get me wrong, the work itself is fine, nothing too ground-breaking, but it has it's moments. But what if the ending sucks? Oh, right...Hollywood will likely rewrite bits. I love how years ago, Mark Millar used to sometimes make fun of people who sucked up to Hollywood online, and now he's the face of it. Funny how a few extra figures and some fame can make someone change their mind.
- Quite what is the point of X-MEN/SPIDER-MAN? It's a mini that has them teaming up over the years in past tales that offer zero relevance. Worst of all, it teases those poor souls who actually liked Ben Reilly as a character, since there is no way in heaven or hell Marvel would revive him. Seriously, that's like calling that fat, ugly chick you dated once out of pity 4 years later and telling her to meet you at a bar. It's just a cruel tease. Granted, it's Gage so it might be readable.
- X-MEN VS. HULK? Didn't they just do that last year during WWH? Yes, they did. Hulk broke Colossus' arms for a few pages. While normal workers after some 25 years get a pension, Claremont just gets random X-books.
- Wolverine continues to compete with Iron Man by appearing in at least 8 comics within a month. No, Marvel, give us more! He's so terribly underused. Even Batman is getting jealous.
- If I got a dime for every solict in the Joe Q era that had the line, "_____ will never be the same", I'd be a trillionaire.
