Jared Leto IS The Joker

And to go back to what regwec said a few weeks ago, it'll be interesting to see The Joker make his DCCU debut in a film that (presumably) doesn't feature Batfleck. Further driving home the notion that the character's potential goes beyond the occasional one-off appearance in a Batman film.

Joker to me is easily top 5 greatest fictional characters of all time. If Leto's Joker is anything like the last 2 (quality wise) Joker will easily take the cake as greatest movie villain of all time.

He's my number 1 fictional character. Ledger's Joker is my number 1 movie villain. There's no character quite like him. He's like lightning in a bottle.

The thing is, while Leto might be an oddball, that doesn't necessarily mean he can act like one on film. While Ledger was a surprise, I think he had more range than Leto has, and if Leto hadn't won an Oscar, it's doubtful he would have even been considered for the Joker. I have a feeling the studio is hoping lighting will strike twice, that Leto's Oscar is proof that he isn't just a pretty face. But I'm not sure he is.
I know everyone is entitled to his opinion but from all the posts I've seen from you in this thread and regarding this casting and the way you appoach to this, I'm really curious and I have to ask...

Davin Faracy is that you? :o

Wow..that does sound like Faraci. He does stalk these threads...

It's crazy to think that within half a year we might already have leaked set pics of the new Joker.
When the day comes... I really don't know how the internet is gonna behave.

It's unnecessary to give Joker a background, especially if he's been around for a few years. No need to mention all that.

Probably have some speech about the chemical fall and that will be it.
Red Hood explored in a Batsolo is what I like (not the costume though)

I would actually like to see the Red Hood stuff integrated in some way shape or form to Leto's Joker.
This  That story is really interesting.

About Joker's role in the story: I honestly see no reason why he can't or won't be an actual full-fledged part of the Squad. Given what happened in MoS, it makes perfect sense that you would want a group of this type to have as much strength membership-wise as possible, and I can envision multiple scenarios where having a psychopath 'in your pocket' could come in handy.
My response: Joker is not the member that you can manipulate... he will do things that you don't even expect. That's why I think Waller wouldn't trust him. But I could be wrong.
Yup, and even Ledger's screentime in TDK is under 30 minutes I believe. Yet it feels like much more because you feel his presence all over the movie.

I could see something similar playing out here.
Agreed. One of the best 30 minutes of a CBM villain ever.
Please give Joker toys. Deadly clown toys like the acid-spraying flower and razor sharp playing cards.
Larry Fong posted a sharp card that was incrusted in a concrete wall :wow: :o
I'd be fine with him wearing the white suit in this movie if he switched to a purple one in another film.
I could see that...

I've been thinking that a cool concept would be to have Joker's skin be a splotchy kind of chemically bleached, maybe even with some rash-looking abrasions, with hair that's discolor end and clearly traumatized by the chemicals and not just green. Then he uses makeup to bring the clown look out more.
Ayer please hear this!!!

I would like to see a joker that can fight in hand to hand combat like literally be as good as batman in fighting skills. The ying to batmans yang with everything from a variety of weaponized thematic props to intelligence and martial arts.
NO! Joker is not as skilled, he has knowledge of thugs fighting but his strenghts are different.
The Joker as an equal to Batman in a fist fight really doesn't work for me at all. Doesn't that slightly undermine all of the years of intense training and inhuman self-discipline through which Bruce forced himself?
Agree....

I hate to post this again but when I talk about prosthetics I mean them in a way that would create a look like this, the biggest pieces would be the nose and chin (which don't even do any emoting anyways), and the cheek and brow pieces would be tiny:

I 100% agree with this post. But I'm fine with each of the two sides, just they need to represent JOKER at first sight!

Again I'm not going to be stupid enough to once again judge another Joker actor before seeing the performance.

American Psycho
Chapter 27
Dallas Buyers Club
Fight Club
Panic Room
Mr. Nobody
Requiem for a Dream

I see plenty of range in Leto.

That means absolutely nothing. He's a magician. He taught Mark Ruffalo and Jesse Eisenberg a few tricks on the set of Now You See Me.

He posted a pic of a regular card stuck in a piece of Styrofoam... which had nothing to do with anything

This lol.

Everybody has their opinions but I never saw Leto as a bad actor.

I want his Joker to sport cornrows like his Panic Room character, except dyed green. I'm joking of course.

I wasn't aware anyone thought that. Somebody on another said he was overrated and I was like, "compared to who?"

Compared to who is an excellent point. Have most people been calling Leto the greatest actor ever or something?

Leto will be fine.

I have no concerns about the 'Squad film. I'm really excited.

Doubting Leto's ability to pull a convincing Joker is completely senseless, I find.

He may not be one's personal choice or doesn't fit into the version a person had in mind, but this casting is as safe as it can get.

I'm starting to realize the term overrated means the guy you wanted didn't make the cut so this is the only way to vent. It's like the most common thing in sports ever.

I've noticed that some people have a difficult time divorcing his film performances from his every-day persona.

Having listened to his music and some of his interviews, I doubt we'd be friends if we knew each other. He comes across as pretentious and, for lack of a better term, kind of like a *****e at times. And Thirty Seconds from Mars is hardly my cup of tea.

I, however, don't let that perception bleed over into my viewing of his heart-breaking performance in Dallas Buyers Club. His final scene in that movie gutted me.

I learned a long time ago the importance of separating the artist from their art. In fact, a lot of the artists whose work I really enjoy are spread across the spectrum of unpleasantness. But, I am not paying $10 at the cinema for them to be an awesome person in real life; I'm paying for them to do their job well. From the firsthand accounts of his behavior, Leto appears to be a highly unpleasant person; but, he is highly talented, and I think his Joker will be a breath of fresh air.

Most talented people are *****es. I think it's more of a case of not suffering fools.

And why should it? There's really no need to like the actor personally to be able to appreciate his work.

I haven't watched many interviews with him, though, but I can't understand a person of 40+ years that writes and plays music of that sort.

It was worse with Ledger, because bigots came out of the woodwork to use one of his performances as the reason for why he was a terrible choice. "The Joker isn't a gay cowboy!" That was a case of ignorant people letting art inform their perception of a man who, away from the work, was completely different.

Here, some are unhappy because The Joker is being played by a *****ebag.

Even if it would affect his performance (which it won't), it would be perfect for Joker anyway.
