Jay Hernandez IS El Diablo

I'm seeing the movie on Sunday with family and Diablo was one of the characters I was most looking forward to. He has cool powers and he's Latino (a rarity on the big screen and with Superheroes in general unfortunately). I can't wait!!

I really liked him. I hope you dig him too Juan, I thought he was a bad@ss :).

That's encouraging to hear!! Sunday can't come soon enough!!

For me Jay is one of the highlights of the movie. Hope the guy does well out of this.

I guess this shot of El Diablo is from the original ending where he didn't die and his reward was a regular cell at Belle Reeve.

I'm not so sure. I feel like what happened was a strong point for the character and the fruition of his arc.

I think he did well but he wasn't really given much screentime or interaction with the other characters until the very end, which makes his "family" line seem like it almost comes out of left field.

Yeah, I never felt convinced entirely convinced they came together as a group. Like when Harley kept calling them her friends. Just didn't feel right. Much like when Harley or someone else would say "we're the bad guys". I just didn't feel the movie lived upp to those ideals.

i really, REALLY didnt buy it when he said "this is my family"
i mean, come on, you've known these guys for less than a day and you pretty much disliked them the first time.

Don't know if this is a re-edit for the new trailer, but check the flaming skull construct! .

Hopefully this for the first time indicates that Diablo has retained some of his supernatural powers like the comic, maybe even hints of hell-fire "constructs" ? Rather than just straight pyrokinetic?
Is that what he sees in Digger? His fate perhaps? A projection of himself?

Also looks like we will get at least a hint of backstory for him...
Chato Santana is doing some serious penance?

Think he will definitely be one of the more sympathetically yet tragic characters, as things play out.

It seems that thing was his inner Demon. I'm not entirely familiar with El Diablo but the wikipedia article on El Diablo said that the Lazarus Lane version is a host to a demon. So maybe that is what it was.

I really didn't like nor dislike this character. Big swing & miss with what this story was trying to make the audience feel with him....

His final form was stupid. I read somewhere that they didn't want to make Killer Croc cgi and they go and have two characters cgi monsters. It was dumb.

So bland. I liked when he was all quiet at the beginning then he opened his mouth. That family background story was just so bland and cliche. Then he was suddenly buddy-buddy with the Task Force X. Eh.

Just got back from my showing. I enjoyed El Diablo and his powers were pretty cool. Finally a solid Latino hero on the big screen! I feel like we haven't seen the last of him

I felt they should have spent more time with El Diablo and less time with Flag, Croc, and Katana honestly. He actually had a story worth caring about. Unfortunately they severely underwrote his character and made him somewhat of a bore. There was certainly a lot more there.

My wife liked him a lot and he...um, yah.

I thought he was the heart of the movie and I actually felt my heart sunk when he said do it at the end.

I hope if they do a JL Dark he can join them?? Possible? No?

and I'm fine with him calling "my family" it's a bit random but hey I've played club rugby before and your team mates look out for each other in that physical game and at the end one of them call me brother let's win this or something I wouldn't rebutt by saying dude I only know you for 60 minutes so you are not my bro...maybe it's a latino thing? Maori people like to call people they just met/know bro/cous (cousin), and imaging when you've been living in a can for ages (even 2 weeks is like forever), lone for a family or missing your family, then you hang out with a group that went through live/death situation 2-3 times and bonded at the bar...maybe maori people are just more easy going I don't know if it's the same for latinos

I thought Diablo was awesome! I would love to see more of him in future DC movies, he's supernatural and I found him and his powers really cool! His fire constructs were pretty cool and some were funny!

Well, there's always the good old "no body found" explanation that keeps his return open... Besides, a bomb explosion [BLACKOUT]killed[/BLACKOUT] a pyrokinesis? Right. :o

Most definitely, the nature of Chato's powers makes me think it would be rather easy to resurrect him. I just wish there was some sort of eulogy for him in the ending or someone at least mentioned the guy, but then again I bet he was originally supposed to survive before all the reshoots...

Is he the best fire powered CBM character? Just thinking about it he doesn't really have much competition I can only think of the Human Torch from the FF movies and Ghost Rider.

Ora si cabron!!!!

Why did they call him Ese? Isn't his nickname Chato?

I loved him up until his final transformation, which just ruined the moment for me. Hopefully they can find a way to bring him back, because he deserves better.
