Jeff Goldblum IS The Grandmaster

The Grandmaster I'd say is not a pure villain, but he does a lot of stuff that leads to bad stuff happening. He like to screw around with the lives of mortals out of boredom and curiosity, basically.

Then you have the Beyonder that does the same thing. Then the Watcher that just watches the **** happen. These Marvel deities, I swear.

Yeah. Collector likes to collect things and beings, of course.

Grandmaster likes to play games with them.

Remember Thor's line at the end of AOU before returning to Asgard - "Someone's been playing an intricate game and has made pawns of us." :cwink: :woot:

You did it. Marvel Studios, you crazy son of ******, you did it.

Jeff Goldblum, wow. Nobody could've predicted that Marvel Studios would suddenly cast Jeff Goldblum in their Thor movie. That's, that's chaos theory.

Thor: What right do you have to treat beings as a mere game?

Grand Goldblum: Ah, well, you see....therein lies the uh, quandry. What is-is life, if not um, one huge...game?

So basically the Elders are all just fanboy geeks who have achieved immortality and just screw with sentient beings out of boredom.

How can so many Marvel fans not know who The Grandmaster is?

I can't believe goldblum is in a mcu movie it's perfect I can't wait to see his eccentricness

Yeah, he really is a big personality. For a lot of people it's probably going to be hard to separate him from his character. Marvel Studios were so preoccupied with whether or not they could hire him that they didn't stop to think if they should.

I assume if they do incorporate parts of Planet Hulk, Grandmaster will be in charge of the Gladiator matches.

I'm more surprised about Grandmaster than I am about Goldblum himself (who I think was reported in the past). Any recommendations for good stories with this character?

Look up lots of old school Avengers tales especially those with a cosmic bent. In the 70's he was a real utility villain and appeared all over.

I wouldn't except for that awful Spiderman cartoon on Netflix. I'm also not a comic reader so...

I do wonder whether Marvel will keep the family connection with the Collector. Seeing how Del Toro wasn't announced, I don't think he will show up and their connection may never materialize. Del Toro will show up again when Thanos comes knocking for the Aether but I don't think his role will be anything like the comics as he is significantly weaker than his comic depictions.

What really matters is how does Grandmaster factor into what is happening on Asgard and the introduction of Hela?

This is probably truth. How does Hulk and Thor end up here? Does Valkyrie show up to help defeat Grandmaster and free Hulk and Thor? (I think something like this happened on a tv show but it was BRB that showed up to save Hulk.)

I think Hulk will already be there and it will be briefly explained how he got there whereas Loki disguised as Odin would get Thor sent there and Thor and Hulk are forced to fight.

I'd like there to be a bit of time where neither Thor nor Hulk realises that they're fighting each other so they really go at it before they do realise.

Yeah, this is probably right. Hulk could even explain his story himself. Show off that big brain.

You could get away with this for Hulk maybe, but not for Thor. They will fight, count on it.

Wow they managed to bag Jeff Goldblum. Fantastic actor that elevates an already fantastic cast.

Maybe Thor get blindfolded? Kind of like an extra challenge to prove how good the gladiators are, they have to kill the beast without being able to see it. Obviously the Hulk has won against the gladiators before Thor.

Jeff Goldblum
Vincent D'Onofrio
Saffron Burrows

All from Law and Order: Criminal Intent.

Not they just need to cast Kathryn Erbe, Jamey Sheridan and Courtney B Vance in the MCU.
