Jeph Loeb and Jesse Alexander have been fired from Heroes!!

Well we won't know this season. I do think Kring is a big part of the problem as well but I don't think he can/will get fired. It is like a sports team. You compile a great team and they have a great first season. The team goes through a big snag and the team gets worse and worse. Of course you are going to lay people off. Cut off the dead weight and try to repair the problem or just stay with what you have and hope for the best.

Saw something posted on another board that the rumor going around is that Mark Verheiden from Battlestar Gallactica is being brought in to replace Alexander and Loeb.

Interesting pick if that's true.

I heard about that a while back, so I highly doubt he's a replacement for Loeb and Alexander.

He was brought in as a consultant back in August for the show, but not a writer since he was still with BG

They have to eliminate all the garbage they have storywise (they should know which by now), more development of the main characters, make them smarter, more rational and set an end date like Lost, I think one more season is more than enough for this series.

On Stealing storylines as a crutch

The storylines have been told time and time again, long before X-Men, Watchmen and whatever other men that we are all familiar with and somehow presume to be the inspiration for anything involving super powers.

I wasnt just talking about using common heroic themes, the first season of Heroes in large parts was almost verbatim certain books of The Watchmen right up until the Season 1 finale, which incidentally seems to be the moment where the show started going downhill from a creative standpoint.

anyone else find it odd that they arent airing a new episode tonight? I know the Election is tomorrow and they have the SNL Skit Show going but it is November Sweeps, and all of the other networks are airing new programming tonight.

Kristen @ E! has confirmed what I thought NBC would be doing. They're heavily trying to recruit Bryan Fuller back.

With Pushing Daisies going under, I knew this was most logical thing they should do but I never thought NBC would actually do it. lol

He was a heavy consultant and oversaw writing for season one. He specifically wrote the episode "Company Man" from season one.

Exactly and there's never been a set ending date for HEROES at any point thus far. That's strictly LOST.

An end date works for a show like LOST because their can really be only one ending, either they all get off the island or they all don't. You can't continue a story like that for too long otherwise people don't care, hence why they realized that and set an end date.

With a show like HEROES, not so much because there are always plenty of stories to be told even if they finally do start phasing out the main characters, which I hope they start soon.

Now this is a horrible example but I can't really think of a better one but like Power Rangers. The general gist of the show stayed pretty much the same, but the main characters were routinely phased in and out as well as the story, granted the majority of the episodes were sometimes redundant, but you get what I'm trying to say. lol

According to Variety, "Heroes" creator and executive producer Tim Kring plans to take a much more hands-on approach to scripting the show.

With the departure of longtime scriptwriters Jeph Loeb and Jesse Alexander from the NBC prime time program, Kring plans to refocus his efforts from post-production back into breaking stories and redefining the show's overall feel for the second half of the third season.

I honestly think Kring is the biggest problem he has about 90% of the writting credits for the show

However Im glad NBC is taking this VERY seriously and in a way this probably has scared the crap out of Heroes's writers (even Tim Kring) now they all know if they do a crappy job or half-assed story they WILL get fired by NBC....that alone will push the writers to give their best endeavor.
And its nice to see Bryan fuller getting persued!

I didn't find it odd... Heroes needs some leeway, and a week's break will do that, especially with the SNL bash to take its place. I say go for it.

I'm inclined to disagree with your Watchmen comment, based on what I understand about the storyline, but I'll have to read the Graphic Novel before I can be comment extensively.

Pushing Daisies was too precious for this world. It was pretty much tailor made for cancellation since day one. I loved it and all, but I never fooled myself into thinking it would last any more than three seasons. Cancellation happens way too often to great shows, and there was no way that Pushing Daisies would slip through the cracks. It really sucks though.

But, since PD is pretty much over () why not have Bryan Fuller return to his old stomping grounds? It'll do the show some good.
