You can judge an actor's voice easily based on his previous roles. It's his regular voice and he's playing a regular guy.

Lex is not a regular guy, though.

He's a regular guy in terms of his voice. He's not gonna put on a Bat-growl or do a crazy eccentric Joker thing. He just talks normally. So it's not a big assumption that Jesse will sound the same as Lex as he does normally.

It's not a big assumption. I just don't see him putting on the same voice for Lex as he did Mark Zuckerberg or the guy from Zombieland.

One very real concern: Was he brought on board to add 'humor' to the film

I certainly hope not.

Just got the news. My first reaction, not gonna lie, was

I really wanted Phoenix, and this is pretty friggin far removed from that. But I'll cope. A great actor is always a good thing.

Having a funny Lex is not a concern at all. Do Goyer and Snyder seem like the type to conceive and write a funny Lex? The answer is no.

What's even more ridiculous is the fact that he said it was a very real concern.

Is it really?

Yes.

If they want to add comic relief to the film, theres other, better places to do that. Jimmy Olsen, Steve Lombard, even Batman can provide all the funny moments this film needs.

Not saying Luthor needs to be a complete stiff, though. Eisenberg excels at being a smart azz with a quick tongue, but he should never approach or even sniff Hackman/Spacey levels of goofiness. Any witty comment of his should be accompanied or followed by a sinister look or action.

I just hope after the 'uproar' from critics and some 'fans' who thought the film wasn't 'funny' enough didnt push Warner Brothers towards making Luthor a clown.

This generation's Lex is not going to be the same old slapstick crap we got in the Donnerverse, so there isn't any "concern" at all. As Spidey said, Goyer and Snyder aren't really the types to write comedy.

EDIT: I should clarify myself, lighthearted comedy.

Even IF he does, it'll be subtle, dark humor. Terrio is very good with that.

I'm sure Lex could have funny parts at the expense of other characters. Like someone he makes look like a complete idiot with his intelligence.

Your fears have no bases in reality what-so-ever.

But I just wonder what made you concerned he might be a comedic character in the first place.
