BvS Jesse Eisenberg IS Lex Luthor - Part 10

Jesse's Lex isn't exactly what I'd want, from what I've seen so far, but I'm okay with that. Hackman and Spacey's Lexs were pretty cringeworthy, and I don't think this Lex will be that way. So far, he seems a step up from previous cinematic incarnations of Luthor.

I've noticed that if I divorce myself from the preconception of the classic Lex, I find Eisenberg's performance much more enjoyable.

True somewhat to me. Although, it's hard to be such a fan of the corporate versions that were a little more serious while manipulative and sly. Thinking of the versions portrayed in the animated series/movies. Also Rosie was pretty on point for Smallville even if the show was hit and miss.

I know I would've preferred a Lex that was more in line with his DCAU counterpart, but I'm always willing to give new interpretations a chance. All I ask is that they be good.

I have a big feeling that Lex is going to get Kryptonite poisoning and losing his hair, that's when we start to see him evolve into a more serious Lex.

But besides Lex's classic stoic demeanor he has all the other classic traits. Greed, a lust for power, complete lack of regard for other people, monumental selfishness and ego, arrogance on an epic scale, a genius intellect, a messiah complex. I think that's all there.

Man..the one thing I wanted when they announced Lex was in the film was that his baldness wouldn't be such a big factor into the story.

He also has the obsession with taking down Supes. I find that most of the lines I've seen from him could be straight out of the animated Clancy version. It's simply delivery and appearance that's diff. Only the party scene is an unusual characterization, but I think it's just him being cheesy phony....and if he knows their identities and they know it, then, it's actually brilliant.

I actually think from what we've seen he seems plenty cringeworthy but I'm holding out that that is not fully representative of his character in the whole movie.

Seems to be what we are hoping for. I wish we could have got a glimpse of that Lex in the trailer. ah well

Best to save it up for his eventual reveal.

Market him as an annoying billionaire to annoy some folks, does a complete 180 turn in personality in film, critics are gonna love that.

I considered that, but as a fan... of course I want to see it now :D

People keep saying that and... I think there were enough lines to indicate the depth of this Lex, or at least to indicate that the overly avuncular nerd persona is NOT who he really is.

I think WB just dropped the ball in getting the public actually excited for him though.

There was a ton of backlash to Ledger's casting as Joker but the first trailer he was featured in just shut them all up.

Here we are 2 or 3 trailers in and people are either still on the fence about Luthor or just not into him at all.

They can hate Lex all they want, Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman are the main highlights for the audience.

I am part of a very very small group of people who believe this version of Lex Luthor will steal the show in BvS. I have nothing to base this on, mind you, except some vague remarks from Snyder and Jessie in interviews about Lex and his duel personality. I have also seen a movie recently where Eisenberg plays two different personalities, so...

I have a feeling people are going to look back and say, "whoa, we may have been wrong about this guy". Again, I wouldn't at all be suprised if Eisenberg stole the show from Cavil, Gal, and even Ben as Batman. I realize I am in the minority though.

I'm right there with yah and always believed that Eisenberg was going to be the big surprise performance since he was cast. The BVS trailer has grown on me every viewing and I loved it watching it the first few times. Jesse ' s Lex is the most intriguing aspect of the trailer for me and this comes with a strong performance by Cavill, who I think is the most solid. Eisenberg is a great actor and he will pull this off.

Yup, I have felt for a long time that he's gonna steal the show here

I don't know if I'd go so far as to say he'll 'steal the show' but I do believe he will surprise a lot of the people who have already written him off as a joke.

Once he shows us his ruthless/murderous side it will silence a lot of the skeptics..."The devil will do it!" moment in the trailer has become my favorite clip of him thus far because he seems so intense and obsessed in it and that's Lex Luthor for me...driven to insanity by his own obsession with beating Superman.

But then their are the people who just don't like Eisenberg (which is their right) so nothing he does will probably satisfy them. I like Eisenberg as an actor and that's why I'm excited to see his take on Lex, I like how Jesse seems to have embraced making the part his own, and whether you love or hate it people most definitely won't confuse Jesse's interpretation with anyone elses. :yay:
