I know he doesn't need to be, but it would be nice if he was bald. After all that's the signature look of the character. This whole change for the sake of change bothers the hell out of me, it really does.
Like for instance, the character of Iris on the new flash show is now black apparently.
The guy playing Johnny storm in FF is apparently going to be black as well ( he was awesome in Chronicle) Not that such changes actually mean much, I just hate these kind of unnecessary changes.

Trunks were outdated, so I can agree with that. But did Perry have to black? Not that I mind though, Morpheus is awesome, but still another unnecessary change, did Lois hair have to be red? Nothing that actually takes me away from the movie, but still would have been nice to see accurate physical representations of these characters.

Then again, Snyder is the faithful type so we can't really know.

Want to see someone who REALLY didn't take this news well? To give you some perspective that the reactions of people here ain't so bad?

Look up @Ryan_Wagner on Twitter. Can't link to it because he says some really terrible things. But his anger is hilarious.

Good Lord

What if he starts out with hair and then loses it in some sort of freak accident related to Superman?

Seems likely. Or he starts using Kryptonite and ends up with cancer from it or something.

thus creating a real personal reason why he hates Superman

the Lex on Lois and Clark wasn't bald, was he?

This Lex may not be that guy

He doesn't have to be, for me at least. My point was just that the Lex vs Superman dynamic has been reduced by alot of fans at times to be just about Brain vs Brawn. I want Eisenberg to do something different than just Mark Zuckerberg with a shaved head, which is the image I seem to be getting from alot of fans who are speculating as to why he was cast, or as to why he could be good. What I want is for Eisenberg to try to do something different from what he's done before and if that means taking Lex in a new interesting direction ,I'm okay with that.

It's not just about brain VS brawn...but about the juxtaposition and contrast between the two characters, period, on multiple levels, and in multiple concepts.

Still, film is a visual medium, so the visuals at play will help with that, with Eisenberg as a skinnier, frail-looking, somewhat less attractive human and Cavill as a muscular, handsome, strong alien.

Rosenbaum and Shea both weren't physically imposing, true. Heck, no live-action Lex really was compared to Superman. But they were all relatively tall, charismatic, and could pull off manipulative and evil exceptionally well. Well, maybe except for Hackman, he was goofy Lex.

But Eisenberg has 3 things going against him. He's short (the shortest Lex we had so far), looks too young, and he sounds very young as well. He may be 30, but physically he can still pass for someone in his early 20s, and sounds like someone in his late teens.

what's wrong with being short and looking young for your age...........:o

Sure, good point. Then again, we don't know what they're up to with this Lex. I'm a fan of outside-the-box thinking, and I'm much happier with Eisenberg than I would have been with, say, mega-safe choice Mark Strong. Eisenberg goes in line with what I've wanted from Lex all along, at least in the broad strokes. This might just be fan conformity talking, but at least I'm intrigued.

Pretty sure it's a Lex that's not like the one from the comics and cartoons... which is disappointing. He's more like Dr Sivana:

If they're turning Lex into Dr Sivana then I could totally see Jesse Eisenberg as being able to do it.

Just kind of sucks though.

How exactly is he more like Dr. Sivana than Lex Luthor?

Season one he had hair. After that no hair, but he wasn't in that many episodes after that.

ah. I see. thanks.

and I kind of like the idea where he loses his hair due to prolonged Kryptonite radiation.

he's so obsessed with destroying Superman that it costs him his own health.

The reason for the baldness can be anything from male pattern baldness to accident to hair pulling contest, I don't care just make him bald, lol.
No seriously though, I would be perfectly fine if that was the case.

the Lex on Lois and Clark wasn't bald, was he?
He had hair, but then again the intent of the Producers was that on top of evil genius, that he be a romantic possibility for Lois and a competition for Clark as well as Superman's deadly opponent.

The tv show had different ambitions and in that story it made sense that he keep the hair.

I have always liked the idea of a Lex that was like this.
Man how I wish these run of Superman movies were a lot more comic book stylised like 300 or Sin City. My dream Superman movie.

Are you saying bald isn't handsome and attractive! :argh:

:p

If they did this it would fit with his original origin

The only way I can dig Eisenberg as Lex right now is if it's a Dr Silvana style tweaky mad scientist Lex....who also happens to be a billionaire. That'd work.

But typically I like Lex to exude sex appeal and power.

And have him shave his head to be like the Pharaohs, who saw it as a symbol of status and power. Lex would have some bizarre interests like that.

That wouldn't be an out of the box way for them to handle it. He could also be wearing a wig like Hackman and already be bald. :cwink:

God, this is just an aggressively obnoxious post for so many reasons.
