BvS Jesse Eisenberg IS Lex Luthor - Part 8

His baldness has to do with exposure to the radioactive Kryptonite (that he himself probably synthesized).

Not a new theory, but it's the best fit in my opinion.

I have to see more of Eisenberg, but what I did see i wasn't enthusiastic about it.

Yep I'd prefer that. The fact that it's actually radioactive in nature should still make it harmful to humans even at the same level of harm it could give Superman. That makes sense because if Superman derives power from Earth's radiation than anything blocking that should be harmful to the native population

Though is there enough time for him to go bald due to chemotherapy during the course of the movie?

I hate that all the Lex Luthor's we've seen on film so far have looked like or acted like total weirdos.

Hackman. Weirdly dressed, whacky sidekicks, wig fetish, ridiculous cockamamamie schemes.

Spacey. GILF loving, terrible kryptonite island plan hatching weirdo with a wig fetish. Goofy sidekicks.

Eisenberg. Terrible, terrible dress sense, silly looking hair, neurotic awkward speech patterns. Stupid Paul Revere puns.

Just once can we get the smooth as silk on top, but rough and violent underneath, Machiavellian power broker, enough charisma to be elected president Lex Luthor.

Eisenberg Lex acts like he'd have a rough time getting elected High School president.

At least Hackman and Spacey were genuinely funny and charming.

Are you kidding me? They were the campiest joke of a character ever made.
Eisenberg's version is rooted in reality and he looses his hair in the film which is evident from the released bald picture. Evil Business men are not supposed sound evil, they are supposed to sound like Lexenberg

Bye.

I gotta say, a story just isn't interesting to me when they try to make all of the main characters the coolest people ever. I need variety. So a weirdo Lex is perfectly fine by me.

We get to see a young entrepreneur evolve. He sounds manipulative, and deceiving. The great part about this Lex is that you would never expect this guy is the enemy of Superman and this young generation would relate to his perspective or persona

Let me be clear. I love the trailer. Everything about it except for Lex Luthor.

I've hated this choice from day one and nothing I've seen has swayed my opinion.

Still really looking forward to the movie, but in Luthor's case I hope they kill him off quickly.

And that excludes being funny and charming how, exactly?

They're supposed to sound like an extremely tired Captain Jack Sparrow who's constantly on the verge of laughing at his own jokes?

From what we've seen, which, granted, is fairly little, Eisenberg's Luthor is going to be obnoxious, over the top, and way too focused on trying to give a weird and memorable performance than on giving an actually good performance. It really feels like the filmmakers looked at the success of Ledger's incredibly bizarre and enthralling performance as The Joker and said "Yes! Do that!" without actually understanding what made that performance work and why it was good and necessary for the character. This approach to filmmaking, by the way, is a running theme in Snyder's work. Nothing Esienberg said in the trailer came off as genuine. It all came off as forced and trying ay too hard to be interesting.

Also, and this is a big one for me personally, what does when he loses his hair matter?

I mean, I'm a big fan of badass buff Lex, but the contrast between nerdy humanist Lex and Godlike Superman is my favorite.

I have nothing against that dynamic. I like that dynamic. I prefer that dynamic. I see no indication that Eisenberg's performance or Snyder's direction will execute that dynamic well.

Eh, to each his own, we'll see when the film gets here.

I really liked everything I saw from Luthor here.

Noone is saying Lex needs to be buff or physically intimidating.

But he should be smooth and commanding. Intimidating not because of his size, but because of his stern tone and confident demeanor.

Luthor should be like an evil Carl Sagan, in that when you hear him speak you have this feeling like no matter how much you read or study or try in life, you'll never be as cunning or intelligent as this man.

Hell, I wouldn't even go that far.

Lex should simply be well acted. I'm not getting that from Eisenberg. What I'm getting from Eisenberg is a mental image of Zack Snyder giving him the note "Ledger was weird and people loved it. Be weird. No, weirder."

Luthor should be like an evil Carl Sagan, in that when you hear him speak you have this feeling like no matter how much you read or study or try in life, you'll never be as cunning or intelligent as this man.

Evil Carl Sagan would be the perfect route to take with Luthor.

And you know what? Evil Carl Sagan would come off as kind of a weirdo.

I don't get all the complaining about Luthor. We've only seen seconds - think about that, seconds - of footage, and already people are drawing comparisons and conclusions as if we know anything about him or what he has planned.

Fair enough.

But I still hold that in those seconds, his acting was quite bad.
