Matt can easily show up. I hope he does.

Does he need to wear a helmet?

Luke Cage will have his powers but in daylight, he need to follow the law.

"I never thought I'd do much action stuff," Colter said. "It's as close to being a black Superman as you can be!"

"Marvel actually gives you a special training class in how not to say too much in interviews [laughs]. We’re in the middle of shooting AKA Jessica Jones and Luke Cage is a very interesting character who just happens to have super strength and unbreakable skin. He’s a neighborhood hero, very much linked to New York and Jessica Jones. It’s all part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe but Luke Cage is a darker, grittier, more tangible character than Iron Man or Thor. He likes to keep things close to his chest, operate on the hush-hush. He has these abilities but he’s not sure how and when to use them. He’s a very nuanced character."

Later on this year (at least that's what I heard). And Luke Cage's show hit's sometime in 2016.

I thought I read late 2015 even possibly very early 2016.

Someone in the cast list is named Len Sirkes and in the comics there is a character that goes by that named called Lone Shark.

Probably not going to look like that though.

This doesn't scream Luke Cage. At all.

I think it makes sense in the MCU, though. Superheroes and superpowers are not all that common, so it makes sense to keep them under wraps at first.

But at what cost of sacrificing his personality? The Avengers were new, yet we still have all of them acting exactly like their counterparts. Luke has always been an outspoken and opinionated guy, and what Colter described is like the exact opposite.

Kind of makes me wish we got Luke's series first. Having an established Cage makes more sense interacting with Jessica.

Cage may not of cleared his name and the authorities may believe Carl Lucas is dead like in the comics. That seems like a good reason why he might be more guarded in the show.

This isn't his show. Ever heard of character development? He'll evolve as a character and become the Luke Cage we know and love in his own show.

If he used his powers overtly he would have SHIELD on him in a second.

People get so dramatic on here at times... He can be all of those things and still keep his power under wraps/not talk about with people. Also, what makes you think he'd be handled differently if his series came first?

Jeph Loeb, Head of Television for Marvel:
“Right now, I’m super excited about what’s going on with Jessica Jones,” he said, referring to the next series in line for Netflix. “Krysten Ritter is killing it. [Doctor Who’s] David Tennant is playing [villain Zebediah] Kilgrave -- believe me, when we do this again, you’ll be talking about him in the same way you’re talking about Vincent D'onofrio. It’s an extraordinary cast. People are going to finally see Luke Cage [Mike Colter] for the first time.”

“There’s lots of things of richness in there and then, as you know, we just announced we’re following that up with Luke Cage and after that Iron Fist,” he continued. “Knowing that and knowing that those characters are going to then interact with each other and knowing how unique each one of those voices are and how they approach everything differently and how they come to each situation. You’ll be shocked -- shocked! -- to find out that when they become The Defenders they actually don’t get along.”

“When I look down that road, there’s really more than enough for us to be able to do,”
Loeb concluded. “But that doesn’t mean there aren’t going to be some surprises along the way.”

Funny how almost overnight Marvel television is the "it" thing now. Very exciting times on all fronts for Marvel. After finishing up DD im all the sudden really interested in getting familiarized with Jessica Jones. Still not sure what to expect but right now I'm a believer based on my goodwill from DD, so bring on Jessica!

So Luke Cage is next. Thought it was going to be Iron Fist?

They switched Luke Cage for Iron Fist because Cage seems further along in the development stage than Iron Fist is.

Luke Cage already has a lead actor and showrunner.

Hopefully Jones does as well as Daredevil and for the next phase they start filming 2 at a time.

To be fair, Luke Cage was always assumed to be last because they consistently mentioned it last when naming the four. That was the first quote that said "and then" to make it clear they were talking about order. It's possible Luke Cage was always supposed to be third. It's possible his casting in Jessica Jones prompted them to hire a show runner and move it third. Who knows?

While I really like Ritter, I am honestly not that excited for Jones or Cage. I am waiting for Iron Fist. But until then, I will have Daredevil season 2. :woot:
