JL Casting Call Update

It's a tie for me between Hammer as Batman and Palmer as Talia. Palmer because she is a pasty white girl playing someone of Arab descent. Hammer because he is much too "baby faced" looking to play someone who is at times can be seen as a leader of this group. I don't want GL being the oldest of the bunch. Besides, what happened to posters and sites saying they were only casting young for WW and Flash. I guess that's out the window.

Liam Neeson wasn't Arab either, so I never thought that Talia would be. This film, as far as we know has no connection to BB, but still.

I can get past her looks because when she's in motion you don't notice a man face unless in certain angles. My biggest gripe with her is lack of a resume, and I know people say like 'Unknowns have to start somewhere.' Yeah they do, but big-name movies aren't where they start.
i agree, but i dont think she looks like a man. more like a very masculine woman. She looks a little more ''butch'' per say than most women, but not like a male. I think its her lips IMO that give her the manly feature and her longer jaw

Dear lord I'd hate to be a woman in a super hero role. The amount of criticism they get on their physical appearance is beyond insane. Yeah, people are hard on the guys too, but nothing like this.

Hi guys!
I hate when someone complain about everything in a movie that didnt even start production and when is come out they are the FIRST persons with coke and pop corn in the theaters line!

Personally Im really positive about this movie and I like the cast because I (like others members that post in here) look beyond the current looks of the actors and I known their characterization will be amazing!

About people that say Megan Gale looks like a man, like it or not she is Wonder Woman and thats all! I think she is beautyful and exotic woman and she is the best option that we have from what we heard in past months.

Finally, a post that makes sense!

This is nowhere near as bad as what Craig got when he was cast as Bond, they even created a website to try and get him sacked. With roles like Bond and Wonder Woman, where a certain look is expected, it's natural that the choice will be scrutinized in the looks department, we shouldn't though ignore the fact that she is also 36 and has no acting credits of any note to her name.

Not really. Garner didn't receive to much hate for Elektra. This is more or less frustration with the direction WB is taking with this movie. Isn't Gale 30? This has got to be the most awkward casting ever!

Just one question... Is there ANY other picture in existence of Armie Hammer other than that one with the gray background? I'm beginning to think he isn't even real... Kind of creepy.

She's 31.

Isn't Bale 30?

ok, i read 36 but with these actresses it's often hard to get a true age, even if she is 31 it's stupid to cast her opposite Hammer time who is 21 and looks it.

Again, it just seems like she's getting too much of a hard time because she's a woman.

Why not say its stupid to cast him opposite her? Her age for Wonder Woman is far more reasonable than his is for Batman. He's the problem, not her.

Ive talked about him in the JLA Batman thread, she is the current topic here, i think he's a ridiculous choice as Batman.
She is the one our of place since Superman seems to be a young guy as well. I also think Palmer is a horrible choice for Talia, not only looks wise but she also has absolutely no decent credits to her name.

1)Bale is 33
2)Bale isn't in JLA.
They are defeating the purpose of getting rid of Reynolds and even Routh if they are casting her with 21 year olds. Can you imagine the reaction had they had this cast:
Bale-Batman
Reynolds-Flash
Common-GL
Welling/Routh-Superman
Gale/Belluci-WW
You have to get the max out of EVERYTHING and if you can get a cast that can potentially boost ticket sales then so be it. If anything, the cast that is rumored thus far has only decreased sales cuase WB don't care about its fans! :cmad:

Totally agreed. He is miscast here not her.

well, routh was pretty much an unknown when he played superman in returns, and i dont think he did exceptionally badly or anything?
He wasn't an unknown, he had his resume built on a soap opera. Not saying it was huge but he had something, Gale only has a bit part as a secretary in a crappy movie.
If we're being absolutely fair, Armie Hammer and Common both have extremely tiny resumes as well, yet Common is considered the most universally excepted casting choice. I can't help but wonder if it's REALLY her lack of experience that people object to or just that people tend to be harder on female actors than males.
I'm not a fan of Hammer or Common being selected, but they do have more experience than Gale in acting. I don't mind Common as GL really because he has the look and he does have a resume, I don't lik Hammer however, because he does not have the look for Batman at all.

I don't really bash on women in super roles. Halle as Storm was one of my gripes but I didn't really have a problem with her until X3.

This is what does not make sense to me. First the rumor was they were going for a younger league, then it became that only Flash and WW would be the younger characters, now with all the supposedly confirmed cast members, it just gos back to the first rumor even though some supposedly confirmed cast members are 30+ years old.

If they had just cast Jen Con or Lena Headey, then we fanboys wouldn't have a thing to complain about. :word:

We don't even know who Superman is yet. So let's wait to comment on that until we find out, okay? Even still though, I don't see why Wonder Woman CAN'T be a bit older than them. It's not like we're talking a huge difference here, it's not like she looks like an old fart or anything.

Also remember it wasn't too long ago that people were complaining about how Heath Ledger was too young to be Joker and how he's supposed to older than Batman. In the end though, that really doesn't matter too much.

The frustrating thing is if they are casting a 30+ Woman out there then why not try for a good actress like Connolly, Weisz, Belluci, etc..

The thing that always gave Ledger the edge was that he IS a very good actor and has proven so, that led to some willing to cut him slack, here they seem intent on casting total nobodies with disparate ages.

Honestly, I hate when people ***** and moan about the age of actors for roles. As long as they look the role and have the acting ability, there's no need for complaints.

I agree.
