JL Casting Call Update

If that's the case, expect this movie's b.o. to take a hit, again. Comparing superheroes to gods is never a good thing. Anyone remember SR? The cast is already questionable and throwing religion in it will make matters worse. This movie has gotten a lot of buzz but I'd say about 70% is wtf or something of that nature. I just don't see how JLA can come on the big screen as a team and be taken seriously, to a degree. You can only humanize them so much...........I don't know. They really should have used Darkseid for this movie. :( Why does WB like having villians with no powers as the main villians? LL, Joker now Maxwell Lord. Can't the villian be smart and have powers, hence Darkseid! :cmad:
Well there's my rant for today! :)
I agree with some of what your saying, especially about the villain(s).
I guess they (W.B.) think it would be too much for the public to grasp, and then when it doesnt make the B.O. that they had hoped for, their left scratching their heads wondering why.

That's why their heroes kind of look like bullies. I mean, LL doesn't really have a chance against a guy with every power imaginable but he keeps trying. Maxwell Lord is fighting a team with every power imaginable so you know he has no chance. The Joker has no powers but he's crazy and cool so he doesn't count. :o One thing I will give Marvel credit for is that their villians tend to be on par or slightly more powerful than their superhero counterpart. You can count on one hand the DC villians that are major threats in the DC universe who have seen the light of day on the big screen. Of all the villians they could have had why Maxwell Lord?!

The film will showcase a detailed blending of live-action, motion-capture, and CGI animation

One can think that when they say mo cap they mean the omacs , atlantis or the heroes in action sometimes , but did Superman returns ever been describe as a blending of live action and mo cap?

I dunno and i may be wrong , but that with the mention of Greek gods with young looking guy like Hammer or short guy like Cotrona make me think that we could expect some mo cap"surgery" with live action..:o :yay:

thanks kbx :cwink:

Well the whole motion cap thing it is probably going to be used not alot/cgi effects for scenes. But the film will probably be more live action then anything else. And for what i was saying earlier today, hopefully when the new guy becomes president of wb on the first he has some jla news with what ever else he will be talking about for the wb's plans on upcoming projects. But if we dont hear anything on the film or cast then or between the rumored feb 11th date then for you guys who hope the project is dead for now it is probably canned. Yea i am not holding my breath for anything being revealed when the guy becomes president but i have my fingers crossed for something atless.

Web the fact that they insist on detailed blending is strange .

did a recent live action super hero release has been described like that?

edit ps: oh well we'll see .. that is also wishful thinking seeing Hammer and Cotrona looks.:o :woot: :cwink:

This is why Marvel is popping out movies like nothing and DC is struggling. IF DC wants to stay "true" to the comics, they are going to have to tone down their characters, especially Superman. Its not DC fault its just how the comics have written them over the years. Marvel characters are more down to earth, like Spidey and X-men, which are more easy to translate to film. Even Electra and Daredevil are somewhat realistic movies. This is why Batman will always have less trouble getting made than the rest of the DC characters. If Superman does gets tone down, than fans like yourself will complain. Its a lose, lose situation...

Yea that is dc problem they should be able to get some of their heroes out as movies like marvel does. Heck marvel tries atless and some have been good and others have been bad.

So let me try to put this together...

Maxwell Lord, does not support superheroes because the have powers that the government can not stop themselves. Thus creating this OMAC project, to give them a fighting chance. Along the lines, Mr. Wayne is keeping taps on the rest of the members of league, just in case they go rogue, so he has a plan to stop them, which leads to the creation of brother eye. Lord, gets a hold of this, gets an OMAC to take control over Superman. Superman wrecks a hold damn city, fighting Bruce and Diana along they way. When Supermans snaps out of it, Bruce admits that he has a hand in Lord taking over him, which puts him odds in over the league. Where the public has serious doubts if they feel safe around these superheroes...

does that sound right?

I don't think comparing the JLA to greek gods will really be thought of as "religious". It's mythology. and let's face it, Super Heroes ( as well as stuff like Star Wars and Lord of the Rings and even Harry Potter ) are modern myths. It does make perfect sense.

Now, if the JLA =The Olympians, does that make Maxwell Lord Prometheus, who tried to steal fire from the gods and gave it to mortals?

a little old, but comics2film.com posted it...

I don't know it was posted, so when it doubt post it!

Ancient Greek Gods as is reference point? Explains maybe why Lord wants to bring these "Greek Gods" down. Humans simply have to power over them....

Oh, that is just f***ing excellent. MIller seems to get it. How come this stroke of brilliance wasn't posted before?

^ I don't know if you are being sarcastic or not, but I meant to say "Humans have no power over them, not Humans have to simply power over them.."

It looks like the Greek paper posted it December 13th, but Comics2Film posted it only today. By the way . . . was that sarcasm or genuine? I couldn't tell.

About this whole "Greek Gods" reference Miller is referring to, it could be just from Lords point of view. As I think someone stated, Lord views them as these overwhelming powerful gods, that believes that it is his duty to take them down.

I really don't have a problem with this, and actually think its not a bad idea!

The "God" view is nothing new. Lex's speach in Superman Returns:

I wasn't :cwink: But I can see why it would look that way.

For me the WB guy only has to say "The Justice League will began production in February/March." I don't mindif they never announce, you know for some suspense, too see if we get this random photos of actors spotted on set. Even actors that weren't even mentioned. Like, "OMG Hugo Weaving is talking to Brody and Common, WTF is this?!?!?!" lol

OMG Hugo Weaving = Max Lord!!!

I'd actually be pretty cool with that.

Here's hoping for some positive casting news in the new year.

Glad you brought it up! The whole "they are more powerful than us and have to be stopped" thing is nothing new. I just can't believe they are using Maxwell Lord over freakin Darkseid! I would even say Mirror Master would have made a better foe. Freakin WB! Read my sig! :cmad:

I Wrote a Script for a JLA movie, sshowing that Lord, how all the other humans, can't impeach of have fear of gods that can explode the hole world with heat vision. And when the whole world embraces de Heros without reguards, it's his mission to use the OMACS to save humanity from itself.

While I usually agree with you when it comes to JLA I must disagree with you here. I think Max Lord is the right way to go with the first film then build up to Darkseid in perhaps the 2nd or 3rd film. Because it doesn't get much bigger than Darkseid. Save the biggest and best for last. :cwink:

Yea i agree there too, first film should be a smaller threat and 2nd or 3rd one have the ultimate threat which would be darkseid. If this film happens and does well i would like the sequel to have legion of doom/Secret Society as the threat.

Not sure if this has been posted already but from Supermanhomepage http://www.supermanhomepage.com/news.php I could see Green as Talia very easily!

Not too much to report, just small bits of news...
According to the Daily Telegraph newspaper, Eva Green, who has starred in such films as "The Golden Compass" and "Casino Royale", arrived in Sydney last week, and reportedly auditioned for a role in "Justice League of America" for George Miller.

Things are definitely moving forward with this movie, as The Alliance (the union and professional organisation which covers everyone in the media, entertainment, sports and arts industries in Australia) posted on their website last week that they will meet with producers of "Justice League of America" early in the New Year to discuss the engagement of crew to work on the movie.

Lastly, Vivienne To, an Australian illustrator noted on her website that she's working on the Justice League movie.

No problem man! I respect your post big time. :cwink: But I do want to see Darkseid on the screen...............no matter what! :cmad:

I Don't want Darkside on a JLA movie.

I Prefer him on a Superman movie, with the new Gods.

Jumping the gun a little with sequel talk aren't we?
