JL Casting Call Update

And this was reported by who? A gossip column? Were they for shooting or auditioning? Again, till the studio goes out and officially confirms the cast, nothing can be considered set in stone.

No, actually, Retroman found a guy who works at the hotel and emailed him and asked him. I also found his blog, and several days before, he had posted (for his friends not for news or gossip or anything) how he had met Cabrera, Cotrona, Brody, Palmer, and a few others not rumored with the film like Russell Crowe and Giselle Bundchen. So obviously the guy wasn't out trying to fool anyone or anything and probably had no idea that we crazy fans would seek him out and ask him questions and stuff. He was just typing along about his life in Sydney, friends, etc.

And you're right. I don't think that proves that the casting is set in stone - just that the movie is moving forward.

Maybe, but the main cast should be mostly confirmed at this point.
If it's any consolation, a person staying at the Sydney hotel did confirm the actors were present. The same actors that are in the most recent casting list.

People can say this or that name is "set in stone", but I remember when Hugh Dancy was "signed, sealed and delivered" to play Batman in Nolan´s first one...
Said who? I remember Dancy being mentioned twice at most, on BOF. Other than that, I'm pretty sure no one claimed any actor was signed. Bale's involvement was a shocker in some ways.

A shocker?
He was in talks for the year One version with Aronofsky and in the shortlist for Batman revealed by the AICN people.

Yea who knows if this variety chick is right or not. WE have heard in the past from other sites saying film is delayed or what not and then we heard miller saying everything is ready to go. So we will just have to wait and see what happens.

The initial source was Dark Horizons, a very respected site. Then again, that´s the same thing with the JL casting, says who? None of these names have been confirmed by the studio.

No, I know that. I meant shocking as in no one expected the announcement to be so sudden. Usually with these things, we'll have 2 names narrowed down, so everyone knows what to expect. With Batman, there were all bunch of names being thrown around, even a week prior to the official announcement.

Never said it was studio confirmed, but the news of the rumors cast staying at a Sydney hotel is telling. To me, the cast is all but confirmed. It's a matter of the whole project moving forward from there.

sigh..... so far we only got someones web blog for news? sweet more rumors.....

Feel bad for Singer, good for Nolan, and J.L. for 2010?

I don't even really care about this movie that much anymore. WB has let all the air out of the tires.

You guys are not reading that blog correctly. What that person from Verity stated is nothing we already know in terms with Routh. All that person is saying is that the next Superman you'll see will be the younger version from Justice League. If The Dark Knight wasn't coming out this year you would see Batman/Bale's name there as well. What is news however is Singer may be leaving the project which I doubt will happen unless the WB is willing to pay him the full amount of money he is owed. But they are not saying Routh will not be Superman for the next Superman movie just that he won't be Superman for Justice League.

WB, take note, this is how you approach a superhero team-up film:

...Favreau insists that Marvel will only go ahead with the project if and when all the individual characters get their own story. It'll be worth the wait, Favreau claimed, calling this way not only more impressive and formidable – but more consistent as well.

"I wonder if the tone of 'The Incredible Hulk' is going to be similar or different than ['Iron Man']," Favreau questioned. "And 'Captain America' is a twinkle in Marvel's eye right now. And 'Thor' and 'Ant Man.'

"[But] in the case of Marvel they're pretty clear on wanting to do it with the actors who've established the roles or to not do it at all. That's what they've said to me," he continued.

So did the new WB Pres. every give a statment on things? Or was this also a BS rumor? The news today from Variety worrys me abit becasue they don't use print things without reseaching them. However! I think having confirmed that actors are down under staying at the same hotel is a good thing. In this may give them more time to work out and get pumped....lets hope so. :)

And I hate to rock the boat but am really sold on Hammer has Batman now. I know if this makes DJ the Man Of Steel it's going to look kind of funny, but I want to see Hammer give Bats a try.

Here's the rub : if you can't get the same actors, then the whole point of waiting is lost.

yeah but all the actors in Marvel movies now tend to want to do it. Norton, Downey, and Jackson have all stated to support doing a team up movie. Can WB say the same? :o

Yea i am fine too with hammer if they play him right. Dj is another thing, i dont really like him for supes he doesnt have the look or height(yea there is ways around it) but still wouldnt look good. No we havent heard anything from the new president of wb yet. Hopefully he does have a press thing about his new position and wb plans soon. Also as i said before on the other page i said who know what is going on with jla and solo supes right now we will just have to wait an see. What the variety person was saying had nothing confirming or denying anything.

And this is why WB will continue to get their rear ends handed to them by Marvel, every year. Marvel just gets it, plain and simple.

On a sidenote... I'd love to see Jon Favreau helm the Avengers. He's done an amazing job with Iron Man so far and has a great attitude when it comes to these films.

I honestly think had the WB handled this right, Bale probably would have done a JLA movie. Wasn't he ok with doing a Batman vs. Superman movie? It wasn't until they went agains Nolan's wishes and pursued JLA that he went on the record that he didn't want any part of it. Bale, Routh, Reynolds, Biel(she would have done it had Reynolds still was in it), and anyone else.

Bale wants to do it, just not in the middle of another franchise that is going on that also has Batman. But, WB is foolish and desperate, and now we are looking at such stellar names as Armie Hammer and DJ Cotrona. WB = teh stupid. :down

Marvel is doing a wonderful job with their movies. Ironman, Hulk are looking good, and they already gave u Spidey, Blade and X-men. But the also gave us Ghost Rider, Electra, Dare Devil, F4, so as much as they get right, they get equally wrong...

Now the Avengers would be a great idea, with the same cast with individually movies, but honestly thats probably not going to happen. You got Downy Jr., Jackson, Norton, Swank, and whoever is playing Cap, Thor, Antman... Thats a lot of $$$$$ to be shelling out. Marvel said they won't do it until each individually character gets their own movie. What happens when one of those movies do really well, don't you think Marvel would like to do a 2nd or 3rd one?

Its a great idea, but not believable...

Latino Review is also reporting that whomever is cast as Superman in Justice League, will also play the role in the next stand alone Superman film:

Brandon Routh won't be returning as The Man of Steel?

Date: January 3, 2008

By: George 'El Guapo' Roush
Source: Variety

News is a funny thing. Sometimes when its reported the person who reported it gets the credit for breaking the news. Latinoreview has always tried to be the front runner in breaking casting news. Sometimes we miss, but most of the time we're dead on.

Kelvin knew about Brandon not being the new Superman for weeks and weeks now, but made a promise to the DC people that he wouldn't break the story. Variety has now confirmed what we've secretly known for a while and Brandon Routh will be replaced in the stand alone sequel by whomever is cast as Superman in the upcoming Justice League of America movie.

Personally, I thought Brandon did a great job. He had the look to pull off the character and the girls all went nuts for him in tighty tights (I conducted a poll). It wasn't his fault that the script was bad. Hopefully Hollywood knows what they're doing in casting someone who may be even younger than Routh in the role. I don't know what the fascination is with younger casting, especially for super heroes. But I'll take a younger actor if it means Nicolas Cage can't go anywhere near the role.

Its unfortunate for Routh, I liked the guy.

So whoever is Sups in JL, will be Sups in MOS, but I thought the whole point of Miller going young, so he can have multiple movies? That doesn't make sense. Unless they are talking about once the JL franchise is over....

WOW! That's really too bad I liked Routh and was looking forward to that "Wrath of Khann" Movie Singer promised awhile back. Then today we learn both are out. If this is the case I can't see DJ as Superman then. I don't see him going out on his own and doing it solo. Well, I guess bad news is better than no news right? :)

I Really would like a Justice League movie with Brandon Routh and Christian Bale...

If Singer didn't mess up SR, that would have been a much better possibility than now...

WB just needs to say something. If JL Supes is replacing Routh, then they better do a damn good job in casting, and none of the names we've heard so far fit the bill.:cmad:

I can't stress enough how stupid the WB is! Personally, I want Welling to have the role, but for what the WB is doing to Routh is dead wrong! How can he be blamed for what Singer wanted?! I'm so glad I'm seeing JL on bootleg. I just can't see myself supporting those a-holes at WB!
