JL Casting Call Update

Are you talking with me?

Did i gave you any motives to call me n00b? Only because i don't agree with Kevin Mckidd as Aquaman?

I Think the real N00b here, mister, it's you!

Anyway:

I Read in IMDb that Moviehole may have commited a Mistake when they informed that Michael Gough was going to returns as Alfred. They were actually talking about Michael Gambon, also know as Dumbledore.

I Don't know if it's true, but it's a interresting rumor and i'm sharing with you guys.

nice photos but still doesnt scream Superman or batman. Hopefully there is good news soon about the film and the script is good and about the official cast.

In some photos, he is convinceble. In others... HOLY CRAP, NO!

Cut that beard and get some heels.

I Would't be sad with him as Batman (But i prefer a older actor).

I actually think the beard can work, it's the stache that's gotta go.

While they've got the kind of actors i would've expected for the other heroes, of coruse Hammer and Cotrona don't strike Batman and Superman to me too. But that dosn't mean they have to be bad. Now, i wouldn't mind if they'd recast them, but if they stay, i've also got not problem with giving them a chance to show me what Miller and co. saw in them. After all, characters like Batman and Superman are only around for such a long period of time cause they were redivined over and over again and there were always people who added new edges to that characters. So why shouldn't they be one of these people? Cause other people don't think they are? Well, that would be step one!

Bottom line, i think people are just overreacting here, cause these two guys don't fit in their close-minded idea of the characters. You can turn that whole height/age argumentation around and say, in his early adventures, Superman was physically portrayed as an average joe, while, according to Batman writer Grant Morrison, the current version of the character is suppost to be arround since he was 19 or 20 years old, so even if Hammer would play his age, which i don't think he will, since he looks at least 25, he could still be around like two or three years. But i don't think all that stuff makes much sense and i don't think a few inches of height or a few years of age more or less are the important to make these characters convincing. The roles are filled with unknowns, which i think is the right way to go for these heroes, and we just have to wait and see if they will be able to play them convincing actingwise, which is the thing that matters the most to me. They could turn out to be terrible choices, but they could also turn out to be great, so fanboys would have to eat their words up just like they had to with Michael Keaton or Daniel Craig, to name a more recant example. (and yeah, i know that they had more acting experience than Hammer and Cotrona, but my point is that there are plenty of actors of whom was said, they wouldn't fit the roles they got casted for and jet, they did) If this movie really gets made and if Cotrona and Hammer stay, i'm almost certain that they will get their supporters after the film is out anyway....

I dont mind unknowns, but I want them to at least look the part.

Can you give me link to where Grant said this?

Current Batman is around 40 years old.

It's Nightwing who could be in his late twenties. He's always about a decade or more younger then Bruce.

That's important only they should be able to act the part, too. Image means nothing if the the person in the role can't portray the character's personality well.

When I started this story, my first idea was, “What if all the Batman adventures from the 1930s until now were all part of one guy’s life, and he’s really gone through all this stuff, and it’s happened over the space of, say, 15 years, potentially?” To make it all work and still keep Batman at his peak, I settled on him being about 35 right now, so let’s say he’s been Batman since he was 19 or 20 years old.

Actually, that was my whole point. Hammer and Cotrona may not look exactly like Batman and Superman do in the Comics, at least if they're not not in costume/made up to, but if they will be able to act the parts, i'll be fine. If the other actors, who already have played Superhero characters, and of whom people say they look exactly like their characters do in the comics, aren't in a costume and made up to look as close as possible to those characters, they also look alomst nothing like them to me. And frankly, i don't think it's really that important. Like i siad, if the movie will be released with Cotrona and Hammer as Bats and Sups, there will also be people who say they look just like the characters do in the comics... ;)

Oh I know that. There's plenty of *unknowns* out there that look the part AND can act.
I understand them wanting to cast unknowns to keep the cost down, and thats kool, but it somewhat worries me that they seem to be shortchanging the characters for cost sake. I havent heard mentioned at least one B list actor in this film, even for the villain.
I think the villain at the very least, needs an A list actor in the role, to add some credibility to this film, and to draw some folks in that otherwise might not of seen it.:)

Orin:

Thought you meant that he's currently at 21. My mistake. I'm fine with him starting his career at that age.

Difference with JL is that they're supposed to have a few years under their belts as solo heroes, right? Batman wasn't a veteran hero at 21, he was rookie.

What do you think of Karl Urban as Aquaman?

GreenKToo:

Agreed.

It does get worrying when supposedly two actors who are in the running aren't even professional actors.

I'm talking about Gale, who at least has some acting credits to her name, and Rusty Joiner.
