Posted this on the GPA news page, but thought I'd toss it over here too...

From DailyMail.co.uk:

Less than three years ago he was out of work and virtually forgotten. But now squeaky-voiced comedian Joe Pasquale is making his name in Hollywood after landing parts in the Mike Myers comedy The Love Guru and the action movie Punisher 2.

The 45-year-old winner of I'm A Celebrity . . . has also been hired to work with Jim Carrey in an animated movie based on a Dr Seuss book. And how did he get all this work?

"He conquered his fear of flying by qualifying as a pilot, buying himself a plane, flying to Cannes and buttonholing the people who matter to get the jobs that matter," says a friend of Joe.

Also, from TimesOnline.co.uk:

--A surprise power player in Cannes -- Joe Pasquale, the former winner of I'm A Celebrity . . . ! Surprising in that, having impressed Mel Brooks with his portrayal of Leo Bloom in the British tour of The Producers, he has been offered cameo roles in The Punisher 2 (!) and the new Mike Myers movie. Even more surprising -- he flew his own plane there. Not quite Blackpool pier, is it?

Looking at the state of this sequel, I wouldn't be surprised if he's playing Frank Castle himself.

I can't picture what they are doing over at the LGF.

"-Ah yes! We getting this guy to do a cameo...Huh? Who's going to play Frank? Ah, that dude from the first one!(?)... What? He left? When? Oh- well... Who can we get then?"
"- How about Dane Cook? He's popular among the kids today!"
"- That's awesome! HANK! CALL DANE!"

why is Lions Gate acting like this Punisher sequel needs to get done now. they could have been doing this two years ago with a lot more time to spare. if they really didn't have the itch to make a sequel after 2005 then it shouldn't make a difference to them if they lose the rights soon anyway. those asshats.

I think LGF would've churned one out a couple years ago if Jane hadn't been shooting down scripts that weren't up to his standards. This thing is only going through because he's out of the way now, so basically the execs will do whatever the hell they want to.

What's his role going to be in the sequel that's the question?

I might be way off-base, but with his look, he could be playing Ink (if indeed that's still a character in the script...) This guy's supposed to have a squeaky voice (I don't really know his work myself) and I can see them going that direction with the somewhat quirky character.

Without Tom Jane it will be interesting what kind of sequel if there is one we're going to get from Lionscrap!
