Horror John Krasinski and Emily Blunt find A Quiet Place

Watched this last night, and loved it. Very tense in places.

Watched it a few weeks ago and it was good. Maybe overhyped some but definitely a good movie.

I wonder if Emily Blunt is coming back for the sequel. I haven't seen anything about that in months.

Every time I see the title of this thread, I get that stupid pop song stuck in my head with slightly altered lyrics.

WE FOUND LOVE IN A QUIIIIIIET PLAAAAAACE

Kill me.

With Krasinski still involved, you would imagine so.

Finally watched this the other day. I have a couple of minor issues with it:
When the alien seemed to react defensive to the noise from the girl's hearing aid device that first time in the corn field, I just waited the rest of the movie for them to use that against the aliens. Also, that final shot of Blunt just before the end felt very strange to me. Like a totally different change of tone that didn't fit IMHO
Other than that I highly enjoyed it. Great direction by Krasinski and Blunt shows once again what a solid actress she is. The girl playing the daughter was really good as well.

Blunt needs to come back, even if it's just for a couple of scenes. We need closure on her character's story.

Yeah for me Blunt is essential for this sequel, she needs to appear at some point just to show the closure to the first movie. Really hope Krasinski can come back to direct.

Quick question: what the HELL was up with the scene with the old man? Was he trying to get himself killed (he looked distraught, so I assume the dead body was his wife or something), trying to get Krasinski's character killed or was he just crazy? It made no sense!

So Part II implies it's a continuation of Blunt's story instead of focusing on new characters. Shame, I think it would have been better going with a new group.

'A Quiet Place 2': Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe in Talks to Return (Exclusive)

Paramount is making some noise for the sequel to A Quiet Place.

The studio is in talks with Emily Blunt and kid stars Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe to reprise their roles of the family fighting to survive a world crawling with noise-targeting creatures.

John Krasinski, who directed and starred in the original, is set to direct the sequel, which will go before cameras late summer. Krasinski cryptically Instagrammed Friday his involvement, writing “…time to go back.”

Krasinski was already writing the script and it was an open secret around town he would direct. More interestingly are the actor talks.

Simmonds and Jupe are said to be under option, meaning that when their initial deals were made, the studio reserved them for any possible follow-ups, however unlikely that seemed with a horror movie featuring almost no dialogue and costing only $17 million to make.

Things have changed $340 million later. The budget for the new movie will be much higher, although by how much remains unclear as the script is still being written. The upping of the budget, however, means pay bumps for the rising stars could be in the offing.

I’m pleasantly surprised Blunt and Krasinski are returning. I was prepared for neither one coming back after Krasinski’s vague statements in the interview both did for THR.

I didn’t really think A Quiet Place warranted all the hoopla. People were comparing it to Alien and that’s way overstating it, to me. It reminded me more of Signs than anything else. There were some pretty pulse pounding parts mostly later on, like the bathtub and to me even more so the flooded room and the silo. Also IMO it overly relied on jump scares with that sharp musical accompaniment which I find annoying.

Also the creatures didn’t look that great.

I think the comparisons to Alien are fair, as Quiet Place came close to replicating the horror and dread elements of Alien, but ultimately not reaching that level.

The creature design is fantastic and unconventional, very other-worldly.

Murphy is awesome in everything. I’m guessing he’s either a bad guy or a guy who appears to be bad. And glad Blunt and Krasinski are coming back. If they weren’t, this would probably feel like just another cash grab sequel rather than a good continuation of the story.
