The latest news update on BOF claims that TDK will take inspiration from Batman #1 1940, which has not only the 1st appearance of The Joker, but also Catwoman.

So, what I'm asking is, any chance of her being included in TDK?

For a villain that popular, I would think we would've heard about it by now if it she was going to be in it. Granted anything could happen.

Although it should be noted BOF only mentioned Batman #1 in terms of the Joker's role in it, so you're theory's build on pretty shakey ground.

she'll probably be in the 3rd...i hope

But didn't she simply appear as the jewel thief "the Cat" in that issue? Perhaps we'll see a pre-Catwoman Selina Kyle, which I think is the ideal way to go. I think a cool way they could arc her character would be to have her appear as an eniugmatic socialite (like in The Long Halloween) who begins a complicated relationship with Bruce Wayne, then maybe have the Joker capture her and torture her, then she escapes and as a result of the physical and emotional trauma, becomes the Catwoman in the third film.

Uhhh...

I thought Nolan was talking about only his vision on Joker.

Besides, I doubt Joker will have that role from Batman #1, there will be another plot for him.

We won't see the Joker and Catwoman. I wouldn't mind a Selina Kyle cameo in the third film but if Catwoman is introduced it would be better later than earlier. I hope the new franchise continues to at least 4 films.

We still don't know for sure if Black Mask, Maroni, or Penguin are gonna be in it... they haven't been confirmed/denied in anyway shape or form at all by Nolan & Co., or WB. So no one can say for sure. If they are going to give Batman/Bruce Wayne a love interest in this film, she is the perfect one, especially if Black Mask/Roman Sionis is gonna be in it. Black Mask has become to Catwoman/Selina what the Joker is to Bats... he is her true mortal enemy. Hell, she ended up killing him for christ's sake!!!

Selina Kyle should have been in the first movie. That way she could turn into Catwoman easily in the 3rd one. I hope she has some sort of cameo.

I'm hoping she'll be in the next movie, but just as Selina Kyle. And I think she should be played by Mia Kirshner!

Keep in mind that this is likely just a three movie deal and the three movies will likely just build on the first movie.

It'd be surprising if they had Catwoman in this movie arc.

I think you're half right. I think that Catwoman is too big of a name to hav heard about this- but Selina Kyle, on the other hand, could sneak her way in.

Yeah, I could see Selina sneaking in. But, full on Catwoman?? I think it would have been leaked out by now, she's such a popular character....that it would probably hype fans even more, maybe.

Dent wasn't even mentioned in the first movie. Neither were Maroni, Sionis/Black Mask, Penguin, or any other new characters that are going to be featured in this film. So what exactly makes Catwoman or Selina any different. Catwoman and Black Mask have so much history together that it is a sin to have him without her. Batman and Catwoman/Bruce and Selina have a ton in common with eachother, and she is the one love interest out all from the comics that is relatable with him in anyway shape or form. If done right, it is a perfect contrast. This film needs to focus on Batman and his war against the criminals of Gotham. Therefore, if they have a love interest, they can not have some damsel-in-distress that he has to save 2 or 3 times throughout the film. The lead female needs to be strong and centered in this movie, or else there should not be any love/romantic interest in it at all.

Selina for love interest

No love interest

Any other :down

What about Talia? She'd make an awesome love interest.

And, she's had more of an actual relationship with Bruce than Selina, or even Catwoman.

I'm leaning against having any love interest at all, because these three movies is about the Batman establishing himself as Gotham's keeper.

For Selina to work, she would pretty much have to be there at the beginning, otherwise she's an unwelcome intrusion.

Y1, TLH, DV work as a trilogy, yet Selina wasn't a major part until the second...

Well, actually....she was pretty major player throughout all of them.

But, hey.....remember, Y1 was Miller, the rest were Loeb.

It works in a comic setting because most Batman fans are very well aware that both Catwoman and Batman have a long history.

It's not the same in a movie setting, because it's unlikely that this trilogy is going to four or more movies.

I know it's different writers, but the fans usually group them together anyway as the "definitive" genesis arc.

I wouldn't say Selina was a major player at all in Y1 though. She was in for a total of like 2 scenes...which makes up what, 8 panels? Even in TLH and DV, she wasn't a major player. Just a supporting character that appeared a lot.

Fans aren't the only ones that know about Batman/Catwoman. Thanks to the 60s show and BR, pretty much everyone that recognizes Batman, has some idea that him and Catwoman are an item.

And if Selina makes it into TDK, it doesn't matter how long the franchise lasts. Dent will be in TDK, and Two-Face will be in the 3rd. Why can't the same apply for Selina, becoming Catwoman in the 3rd?

Well, maybe she felt like a major player b/c the major revelation that she was a street hooker. But, yeah....really, Jim Gordon was the leading character in that book with Batman sort of being supporting and she was kinda like a little footnote.

TLH is such a long story....in some parts she plays a major part. In other issues, not really. Like the IVY part, where she saves Bruce. But, I think I dug her more in DV.

If you haven't, check out 'When In Rome'. Serves as a sequel to TLH and a prequel to DV. Really great read.

Plus Selina was oh so sexy in the story. In every damn panel. Rawr. :o
