By the way eXistenZ is AWESOME. Everyone should go check it out.

I've also been seeing Dr. Who commercials on Scifi

So have I, during Rose Red it was playing. Wasn't really interested in the show though. I might have to check it out anyway.

Clive Owens is brillaint watch him in Closer, If he was less buff he could totally pull it off.

There is absolutely nothing about Clive Owen that I could ever see as Joker-like.

5. Sam Rockwell - Sam Rockwell wants this role, and he's good enough to earn it. The guy is one of Hollywood's talents who isn't far from being a mainstream star. He can act his ass off, and he can be quite funny to boot.
What to watch: The Green Mile, Galaxy Quest, Matchstick Men, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind.

4. Jude Law - Jude Law is another name that is now being tossed about for the part, and I think it's good casting. He's one of the best actors on-screen today and has turned in so many good performances. With Nolan's direction, he could create a creepy, frightening Joker.
What to watch: Closer, I Heart Huckabees, Road to Perdition, Cold Mountain, A.I., Enemy At the Gates, The Talented Mr. Ripley.

3. Jake Gyllenhaal - Jake's name has recently come up in regard to the Joker role, and I think he could nail the part. The kid is one of Hollywood's best young actors. He's coming off an Academy Award nomination, and another performance that deserved one too (Jarhead). Personally, I think Jake would be better suited for Black Mask or Two-Face, but he really has the talent to play any of the roles. And, let's not forget, Nolan likes him. He was second behind Bale for the part of Batman.
What to watch: Donnie Darko, The Day After Tomorrow, Jarhead, Brokeback Mountain, Proof.

2. Jason Lee - Jason Lee is a hilarious comedic actor, but if you watch Dogma, you know he is capable of more. Sure, that performance was played for laughs, but he still came off as a creepy, formidable villain. With Nolan's direction guiding Jason Lee, he could use his talents to create an amazing Joker.
What to watch: Dogma, The Incredibles, Chasing Amy, Dreamcatcher, Mallrats, Vanilla Sky, Almost Famous.

1. Tim Roth - Even though his name hasn't been mentioned for a while, Roth is possibly the best actor ever rumored for the part. He's great at voices, he knows how to play a creepy, evil villain, and he's got the manic energy the role needs.
What to Watch: Planet of the Apes, Rob Roy, Hoodlum, The Musketeer, Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Four Rooms, Invincible.

Honorable Mention - Lachy Hulme. I've never really seen Hulme act, but I trust Nolan and his choices. If he wants Hulme, Hulme must be good.

Rockwell would be better for The Creeper.
Law would be better for Hush or Riddler.
I can't see Gyllenhaal in any role.
Lee would work.
Roth would be great.
Hulme would be okay.

Nice list, Brian2887. Here's my list.

5) Adrien Brody
He's generally cast as sympathetic characters, and his few turns as villians turned out be forgettful affairs (one of the reasons he is last on my list), but Brody has the ideal facial structure for the role, and considering he is such a tremendous actor, I am sure Brody can turn on the creepiness and create a Joker to remember.

4) Jason Lee
Lee is an excellent comedic actor, and he has proven time and again he's also great at dramatic fare (like in my favorite movie, Almost Famous). He has a range of vocal talents as well, plus he's got the tall and lanky physique. I'd love to see him in the role. Still, there are others. But he would be awesome.

3) Tim Roth
He'd make a great Joker for pretty much all the reasons Brian stated, and if he were to emerge as a frontrunner or even a rumored candidate, he'd be my top pick (he actually was for awhile at one point). Even though he's not my top pick at the moment, you can say he'd be one of my dream picks for the part.

2) Jake Gyllenhaal
He's more than just some good looking teen pin - up. Jake is one of the finest actors of his generation. He was pretty much the only watchable aspect of both Bubbleboy and The Day After Tomorrow, and his venture into more dramatic fare with Jarhead and Brokeback Mountain proves he can handle The Joker quite well.

1) Paul Bettany
Paul's one fine character actor, and while he is playing a similar character in The Da Vinci Code, I still think he's talented enough to change it up a bit and make the characters not seem as much alike. Until their is an official announcement, he'll remain my top choice. (Gyllenhaal will replace him if he is indeed out).

i think Gyllenhaal would be a bad choice for Joker. I can see Gyllenhaal as Dent.....not as the Clown Prince of Crime. Law I can see as a Joker candidate. What convinced me when it comes to Law as Joker, were his roles in A.I. and in Road to Perdition. However, with that being said.....i would still rather see Bettany, Hulme or Eccleston as true Joker candidates.

I agree
I can see Gyllenhaal as Dent
I can too, but reluctantly
Law I can see as a Joker candidate.
I disagree, but

I haven't seen those films.

Road to Perdition is great movie I like where Law takes pictures of victims he murders kinda like Joker.

Why do I only watch all the irrelevant Jude Law movies? WTF

No it has Tom Hanks, Daniel Craig the new 007 and Paul Newman in it also it's one of the best movies 0f 2002.

I throw my vote behind Sam Rockwell. The guy is just a great actor. I really liked his performance in 'Jerry and Tom'. And his character in 'The Green Mile' shows he can pull off a freaky lunatic as well as anyone.

Never said it wasn't. I just haven't seen it.

Law as the joker. Go away you son of a silly person. I fart in your general direction. You mother is a hamster and your father smells of elderberries!

I can't see him as The Joker, but he's perfect as The Creeper.

Adrian Brody as Joker, there is no other person, he's the best match

see!

Crispin Glover is not a great choice because he is the way he acts, he will always give off that he is insecure, he sounds insecure looks it and just seems to introvert, joker is extrovert.

I am down for Brody:cool: He has it all, (as for the look), I have never seen a movie with him in it. I am going to watch King Kong soon though.

Watch Oxygen (1999) There he is a homicdal maniac who pulls a straightened paper clip from under his fingernail. After ripping off his nail of course. This movie is sweet.

I may be wrong but didn't Brody have green hair in summer of sam? And also, who the hell is Bruce Spence?
