He's my second choice for The Joker after Roth.

THAT IS THE ****ER THAT KILLED BRANDON LEE

NO WAY DO I WANT HIM AS JOKER HE WOULD END UP KILLING BALE!

the joker actually looks more like Steve Buscemi in that drawing...

And Buscemi looks like Matthew Broderick with a hangover in that pic.

Hi , First time posting, long time bat-fan - personally i like whats already been said on these threads - very interesting

For the Joker to succeed you need an Actor with a wide range of Talent to play tragic to funny as hell in the flick of an eyebrow

The Jokers character is pure chaos to batman's order, so his character has to be instantly muteable, forever changing.

Jude Law? To hell with that idea - never rated him as an actor of note

Depp, Turturo or Buscemi are very diversive off the wall kinda actors that would do the role justice

Other considerations are Alan (Nightcrawler) Cumming tho i dont think he'd do it, after being in so many comic projects.

i'm definitely behind the idea of Crispin Glover as the joker - Nervous energy, very physical (did most of his own stunts in Charlies Angels) , creepy persona, very gangly hiding wiry strength - that role could make him.

Another one I'm really Keen on is Benicio Del Toro - that guy can play anything - check out his performance in Sin City - especially when he does that high grating laugh when hes "dead" in Dwight's car -

it wouldnt be the first time that the joker was played by a latin American - Caesar Romero anyone?

"in the Kingdom Of The Blind the One-Eyed man is king, but i'll forever be without my throne - a wandering Deadeye knight"

Oh yeah how about having a welsh-born Joker, to Bale's welsh-born Batman?

Look no further than the superb Ryhs Ivans

Remember him?

Little Nicky's evil Brother - surely joker material there

Here's some shots of actors i knocked up in Corel

if you would be good enough to follow the links you'll see what i've done
Alan Cumming (nightcrawler from Xmen 2)

"deadeye Knight"

Heres another

i'll post more later or can anyone tell me how to integrate them like you guys have done with your pics in your posts

i'm so old i still think windows 95 was cutting edge LMAO

well to be fair defoe has played the goblin in spiderman and your right he would be outstanding - but would he play another comicbook villain?

Its like asking Alan Cumming to do joker after nightcrawler or loki (son of mask)

And also to be fair that photo of Rhys Ifans isnt a good indication of how evil he can be

I'll try and get a better one and do a joker makeover on it

Since he's said he wants to, I'd say yes.

Well, the supply on the net is limited. Maybe someone could find some good screencaps from Little Nicky?

I'm sorry peter cushing, but when you put a quote at the end of that sentence^ that sounds like its on like Donkey Kong

Reign yourself in there a bit hoss

i'm trying to keep this friendly mate---- and i agreed with you that defoe would be OUTSTANDING -

but while he said yes - his representatives or more importantly the casting agencies for he bat sequel might not pick up defoe for the very reason that he has played the goblin

i'd welcome defoe whole heartedly for the role coz i know he is more than capable

And as for the pic of ifans - on google - THE SAME PAGE the pic you posted is on, is not only a campy pic of ifans in "Little Nicky" but one from "kevin Perry Goe Large" where he's grinning like a loon.

Ifans can play a wide range of parts from camp to unbelievably dark to highly comical
Jude Law by comparison is AWFUL and yet his name graces the poll

I have proved i can draw with the pics I posted previous on those photobucket links - I draw for a living

But if you want to do better than me, think you can do better than me, and can do better than me --- then please feel free, i'll be impressed and show professional courtesy for a job well done

Crispin Glover as the joker above and Alan Cumming below as the joker

the picture on the left is taken from his stage performance in the musical "Cabaret" where he played the Emcee
His performance as Floop in Spykids and Emcee in Cabaret gives him a good campy pedigree as the joker and he has that "funny shaped head" like Mr J had in "The Killing Joke"

after watching sin city i think benecio del toro would be a great joker... the scene where jackie boy is talking to dwight in the car is just creepy

I totally agree Kang

Benicio Del Toro's career has proven he can play ANYTHING and while maybe not as legendary as deniro (yet) he does the deniro weight gain/loss thing so he is almost unrecogniseable in his roles

Its not without the bounds of credibility that he can lose weight to play the joker - he's got a fantastic vocal range, that can go from mean and growly to high pitched and insanely manic

as evidenced in that sin city scene that you are talking about

his grin nearly split his face, he had a false nose and chin prosthetic - That could be toned down a bit and not so stylised as the joker, his eyes and that laugh

man - that was the joker or damn near to it

And like i said it wouldnt be the first time that the joker was played by a latin american

Caesar Romero played him first in the 60s tv series

But we're (and more importantly warner casting are) obviously looking for a darker, killing joke-style joker

I think del Toro can do it with aplomb

I think another interesting choice might be Matthew Lillard. He's kinda young compared to a lot of the other actors mentioned, and known for being goofy. But I think he can be more than that.

He also has an interesting face, very tall and slender. Plus he's shown some real psychotic potential...in a good way!

Two Face said:
A picture please!
Of Lillard? I wish I could...I'm on webtv right now and apparently they don't make the picture option available, which sucks.

But he was the crazy guy in the movie Scream (ok, he was also Shaggy in the Scooby Doo movies, but that wouldn't help his cause).

Christopher Eccleston has the ability in his acting performance to do a great job as the Joker. He has a physical presence and an insane look in his face, throw in the fact that he is an english theatre trained thesp like Caine, Bale, Oldman and Wilkinson and has currently refused to sign for another season as Dr. Who maybe he can be considered.

Hey, wasn't Christopher Eccleston rumored to be up for the either the Scarecrow or for Batman himself? You might be on to something here. Certainly Eccleston is someone that Nolan is already aware of or may even know. He could be on Nolan's short list of candidates for the Joker. I would make sense (based on how BB casting went) to cast a fellow Brit for the Joker. Also he has the look and is definitely an outstanding actor (loved him in The Others). But could he play the 'sometimes over the top' mood swings of the Joker? Also there is something very dangerous like presense to this actor.

So far this is the best choice I have heard.

hmmm interesting choice - i prefer rhys ifans if theres gonna be a brit actor - but i never thought about chris eccleston

he would be good

currently doing the fantasy/sci-fi rounds as Dr.who he displays an almost manically happy personality like he's been taking dico biscuits - then goes into childish or manic rages - a classic sign of a manic depressive

thing is, he's quitting dr. who because out of many reasons he doesnt want to be type cast

i REALLY DOUBT he would want to play joker after turning down a really good heroic part like dr.who

Mathew Lilliard on the other hand is again an inspired choice and more practical in a sense

he strikes me as someone who'd relish playing the joker to distance himself from his shaggy image

right body type, personality and energy for the part

Either I myself, Super scar or any other pro/semi-pro or keen amateur artist on these boards should rattle out some joker makeovers

Especially for Lilliard and Del Toro

I've just finished a real cool few pics of buscemi, cumming (again for fun) and MARILYN MANSON as joker makeovers

those three guys didnt take much working on

i also done one of rhys ifans

will be posting these soon when time allows

That was a mistake. Someone confused him with Murphy because they had both been in 28 Days Later.
