I'm afraid it's true man. :)

Although Crispin Golver would be the best choice in my mind, rumor has it that director Christopher Nolan has approached Sean Penn to play the Joker in the sequel to Batman Begins, which is now titled Batman Begins Again, according to Aint it Cool. "Over here in Blighty's 'Now' magazine (celebrity tat), there's a potentially interesting story regarding a story that's crept out from the Batman Begins premiere party. According to the reporter, a drunken Christian Bale revealed that Chris Nolan is courting Sean Penn to play the Joker in the next Batman film. However there's still some finessing to do because Sean's apparently unsure about 'taking' his buddy, Jack Nicholson's, role. Could be guff but it's another potential to add to the list."

Bale better stop drinking. ;)

About to start work on my go at the Lillard manips (I tend to do two at a time), but when I was searching for a good pic, I spotted pics of Devon Sawa from the same movie and realized that he played crazy pretty well. Plus, he already had green hair, so the manips were much easier on me.

EDIT: I just realized I didn't save after my last skin tone adjustment on the first pic, but I think you get the point.

I don't really like this manip. If someone better than me could do the poster pic I posted earlier, I'd appreciate it.

That's the poster to which I referred in the second quote. If someone could do that one, that'd be awesome.

The moer I think about it, the more I think Sean Penn is an ingenious choice for The Joker. He's an acclaimed character actor rather than a huge superstar, but he's still a big name, adding to the high-class cast line-up.

The one thing going against him is apearance. Facially, he looks the part, but his build his short and stocky rather than tall and lanky. Still I think I'd rather have someone who can deliver a trully excellent performance than someone who has nothing more to offer than looking the part - not mentioning Crispin Glover's name....

Yeah, he tends to deliver intense, dramatic performances, but he's known for being a diverse actor. If you see "Fast Times At Ridgemont High", he plays a comedic role, and his character in "Carlito's Way" is brimming with psychotic energy. Besides, we don't want a funny man to play The Joker. The Joker is not - IS NOT- funny. he should be absolutely terrifying. And I think Sean Penn would bring those elements to the character.

So, I'll be the first to say it....

PENN DAMNIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think Sean Penn would make a pretty good Joker.
Here's a quick manip that I did.

"Before the Batman showed up, Gotham City was a happy place. They had flowery meadows, and rainbow skies, and rivers made of chocolate, where children danced, and laughed, and played, with gumdrop smiles"

Heh.

no no no no no sean penn cannot be the joker. He is a good actor ill give him that but he cannot be the joker. His voice is too deep and mobbish to be the joker and his appearance will be terribly off. Also if were going for an older joker, Penn is almost if not in is 50s, then i much rather go with Hamil. His appearance is alittle better and his performace would definetly be A+ since he loves the character and has been doin it for 13 years.

*Gives Standing Ovation*

You took the words right out of my mouth. ;)

Why thank you, Mr. Flass...

And as for the comment on Penn's age, he was born in 1960, making him around 44 years old. Around a decade younger than Mark Hamill.

Who the hell is lachey???

Exactly.

At least Glover gets photoshopped pictures posted every other page, and you've actually seen him actually acting in various movies and list those performances (or general tone, at least) for basing the cast choice. Hulme? Nada. Just "HULME IS JOKER" with a 100x100 picture found with Google Image Search.

It's almost like the Lachy Hulme stuff is some sort of in-joke that a few people agreed on and started spamming sites around the Internet saying that he was perfect.

I still want Hamill, knowing full damn well that he's too old and doesn't look the part. If that guy can lose weight (Atkins, lipo) and get rid of the wrinkles (makeup, Botox) such that he'd even look slightly like the Joker, he'd be the best choice. As far as dark twistedness goes, even in TAS, his Joker showed hints of it, but it obviously had to be restrained 'cuz TAS was a kids' cartoon.

Wouldn't mind any of the other touted suggestions though (except for "who the hell is" Hulme)

I would say Hamill if he was 10 years younger, but sadly I think he's too old for the part now.

But I agree with your opinions on Hulme. All of these people who are saying he must play the part have most likely never seen him act. And I've not really seen any manips of him either, so few even know what he looks like. It seems like people have read that he was a "98% certainty" for the role, and decided they would support him, so that if/when he was cast, they could say "I supported him all the way!"

I can't really comment on Hulme, as I haven't seen him act, but I say a definite "no" to Crispin Glover. I just don't like his acting. Other choices like Johnny Depp and Benicio Del Toro are far better.

But my current top pick is Sean Penn, even though he's always been in my top five choices.

My Top Five:

1. Tim Roth
2. Sean Penn
3. Crispin Glover
4. Paul Bettany
5. Michael Massee

I never thought of Roth, I loved his charactor in Rob Roy.
He's a great actor!
