In my opinion, The Joker has to be played by one of these men:

1. Paul Bettany

2. Adrien Brody

3. Crispin Glover

My choices are all right for The Joker. They have the build, the right height (around 6'), around Bale's age, and are very talented and respected actors (I only saw Hulme in The Matrix, but I'm sure if he gets the part, he will become a very famous and respected actor)

Out of those Hulme and maybe Glover are the only ones suitable for the Joker. But I'd prefer Dafoe or Weaving.

Out of all the possible actors, I think Dafoe would be the least probable one to be picked (cause he already played a villain in a comic book movie and is well known for the role).

I say Glover. In fact, there should be a website devoted for Crispen Glover to be THE JOKER...maybe I'll make one. OR, I could make a site in which people can vote on a poll for a select few actors that we wish would be given the chance for the role. We could have fan art too.

...on second thought, that'd be too much work...the only motivation I'd have is as if I knew Crispen Glover may have a chance at getting the role. I really wish I could believe that, but knowing how things go, they'll probably go with another unknown. Until then, we can only do what we fans can do:

CRISPIN GLOVER FOR THE JOKER!!!

There is great and very underrated actor, that everyone always forget, but everybody like.....and he would be great for the role of The Joker.
The great Michael Wincott...

Just look at his facial features, The nose being the main thing, it's perfect for the Joker. He also has those creepy eyes. When I look at him I can just see him as the Joker.

Yes, but have you seen him in anything that tells you he'd make a great Joker?

There are plenty of lanky, big-nosed actors. You can't go on appearance alone.

I'm not saying he's wrong for the Joker, since I'm only going by pictures and a small role in a Matrix movie. But I just don't understand how so many others can say he's perfect for the role, going simply on the same evidence.

There is nothing that really shows him acting like the Joker but what I have seen from him I think he has the acting ability to pull it off. Watch Let's Get Skase for more of a look on his acting skills.

Come on folks... Mr. Smith. just look at that laugh. The guy can be dark as proven, witty, and down right psycho.

HUGO 'BOSS' WEAVING IS THE JOKER :joker:

Edward Norton

My 2nd choice would be Ed Norton. If they can't get HUGO 'BOSS' WEAVING, then get this guy. He does kick ass.

But please... i hope it's Hugo 'Boss' Weaving

No way, definitely Lachey Hulme.

Most of the people here say him, so that is the consensus.

I personally think we need a younger joker..... since most of the new characters are young

this guy is very good actor and plays the villains really well.......and he has experience with the sword. Robin Hood, The Crow, The Muskateer......he is good.

Wincott- "but why a spoon cousin?? why not an ax or a machete,,,,,or......

Alan Rickman- "because it's dull and it will hurt more you idiot"! - Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves

Classic....

There really are many more potentially great candidates out there, if you don't limit your thinking to just skinny guys with big noses. Remember, these are actors. Actors, good ones at least, transform themselves for roles. And some subtle makeup and camera tricks can make all the difference.

Johnny Depp could do wonders with the role. There are few actors working today that transform themselves for every role like he does. You'll never see him look or act the same way twice. IIt'd also have that 'wow' factor that you get when you see a normally 'nice guy actor' playing it pure evil (Denzel in Training Day, Tom Cruise in Collateral). He's hot right now, so it may seem fashionable to cast him, but the truth is he's been doing consistently great and varied work for years. He's made for the role.

Robert Downey, Jr is someone else I could totally see in the role. Just look at his filmography- he does brilliant, intense work. He's very offbeat, yet charismatic. Plus, last time I heard, I think he's drug free at the moment! heh

I could easily see this guy as Joker.

I hope they don't give Joker a fixed smile though, because that would suck. Not only would it look dumb, but it would limit the actor's ability to convey emotions.

Your choices are awful :(

Heres a photo manip I made from Ichi the Killer movie cover. I think it would be cool to have the permanent smile, like Joker carved it into his face with a razor or something.
