Sadly Tim Roth isn't one of the two main contenders as the Joker. Bruce Spence and Lachy Hulme are, so I might as well pick one or the other.

ALAN CUMMING SHOULD PLAY THE JOKER!

He is very versatile, skinny guy who who is a talented major movie and broadway actor. He has all the tools for the character. His hair and expressions are somewhat jokerish to begin with. He can prance around and be silly and also be totally maniacal. He's good at playing over the top, eccentric villain types... he aLso he has experience acting under heavy makeup.

He's been in Spy Kids, Son of the Mask, X-Men 2....

He would be perfect for the character... At least for a "Killing Joke" interpretation of Joker. (I could totally see him commanding a gang of chemically altered evil circus midgets.)

Whenever i hear the name Alan Cumming, i think of crap movies. Except for X-2, (which by the way, i just realized that was him playing the blue buy, forgot the character's name..) I don't usually associate his name with "good" movies. He reminds me of PeeWee Herman...then again maybe im just biast .Go Hulme!

What the HELL Are you talking about? Look at that pic. It screams Joker. Infact a manip of that same pic I saw a long time ago was the first thing tthat convinced me he could be the Joker.

Haven't seen Hulme in anything but the Matrix. Roth on the other hand has impressed me with just about every movie he's done.

Being known doesn't make someone right for a role. Booth is not known as an actor, yet you praised him being cast as Zsaz. Sometimes unknowns are a better choice(remember it was Christopher Reeve who convinced us a man could fly). He is actually a good actor. Yes Crocodile Hunter was a **** movie, but that doesn't make him an incompetent actor for being in it. He was actually quite good in Four Jacks and Lets Get Skase(thats where the pic you posted comes from, i loved his character in that movie).

Your post seems to tell me you have no better reason to go against him then simply for the fact hes an unknown. Which totally removes any respect I might have for your opinion.

How do you know that this guy can pull off the laugh, the look, and the essence of the Joker.

I didn't praise Booth, I was happy that someone got the role as Zsasaz and he was in the movie.

There is a certain amount of gamble of course to casting any unknown in a major role, but there are just as many instances of unknowns doing great jobs as there are poor ones. Some movies, like Superman: The Movie and Star Wars, in my opinion, would have been NOT AS GOOD if they had big name stars cast in the starring roles.

And how would you know? Well, I for one trust Nolan's judgement.

Arnie was known when he played Freeze. Remember that.

But Roth isn't Arnold. Arnold is a big buget Action Star and Roth is a Art film actor who is a better actor then arnold. There is no risk with Roth.
