EDWARD NORTON
I completely disagree. He has shown he has what it takes to play any role. Hell, he could have played Batman IMO. We definately need an actor that can keep it dark and do what Jack Nicholson didn't pull off. He needs to be scary and creepy. Watch "Primal Fear".casketmouth said:He's one of my pics but definately NOT better than roth in this type of role.

Crispin Glover is the only person for the role. Anyone who thinks differently has no interest in the Joker, or simply doesn't know Crispin Glover's work. If you honestly believe old, ugly men could ever be the elegant, beautiful jester that Joker is meant to be, you truly have no clue what the hell you are talking about. True, both Cesar Romero and Jack Nicholson began the trend for old, ugly Jokers, but all Batman fans know the animated Batman series with Hamill's voice absolutely redefined the Joker. The lanky, elusive Joker is both youthful, energetic, skinny, and has a nose like Crispin Glover. To cast anyone else, would be to mock the vision created by those who truly cared about this great iconic villian. Shame on all who believe Del Toro, Penn, Pitt, Roth or any of these losers could ever approach the magnificent portrayal Hamill created.
Crispin Glover for Joker.

Clown "prince" of Crime isn't just a catchy nickname, his elegance and beauty is what makes him so damn easy to watch, and so shocking when he turns from absolutely ammusing to brutally insane/homicidal. Jack Nicholson was just homocidal, rarely elegant or ammusing.
Muze said:you just made my case for me. common sense tells me that if i have two extremes, that the best pick is somewhere in the middle; a happy union of the two. Hamill looks horrible but has the voice. Glover looks like a joker but has a horrible voice. so they are both out of the running. next.
luke skywalker was irrelevant? anyways, Hamill did the best cartoon voice for the joker. that's it. that's his last claim to fame. he voiced something. seriously, have you seen the guy who voiced Sebastion the Crab from the Little Mermaid? he, get this, doesn't look anything like a crab; not even in red paint.
i will pick on Mickey Rourke for being a crappy actor. i will applaud him for being a real life over-the-top thug though. now if Batman Begins were as surreal and self-mocking as Sin City, you might actually have a point.
E.C. said:Argue the point or don't argue the point. Stop trying to be clever, as it just makes things even worse when you fail at it and/or overlook the topic.
Mark Hamill spent the last decade voicing the character in question, and his work is still considered by many to the best rendition of Joker yet. Why would any other role he's had be of any importance if he's already spent the last 10 years playing the role in question? He was Luke Skywalker. So? John Travolta was in Saturday Night Fever, Look Who's Talking, and all other random crap before he got his Pulp Fiction role. Yet, when the part for Chili in Get Shorty came around, he got it. And it was because of his work in one role that was perfect for to the role needed in Get Shorty.
E.C. said:You completely missed the point. But at this point, you're probably just trolling anyway, so it's not even much reason to explain myself any further.

Theres someone that young tall and skinny enough for ya
Ach who cares
Sean Penn is Old and NOT the joker in any shape or form
I'll go for Tim Roth
But Tim aint exactly young or Tall either
