truthfully no manip ive seen of tim routh has conviced me that he should play the joker
I think he would do a good job but he's not my first pick. I still say Edward Norton would own everybody mentioned.

Trufully I would have liked to have seen Gary Oldman do it. Regardless of his age, I think he is the best actor on the planet.

Here's my way of thinking.

There are basically two schools of acting.

1. Is the guys that really play themselves in every role. They emote very well but it's their voice and mannerisms. They can sell emotions well.
IE: Jack Nicholson, Travolta, Brando, Eastwood.

The second is ones that are chameleons. They change their voice, mannerisms, accents, etc..

Gary Oldman, Meryl Streep, Edward Norton, Tim Roth, etc....

I think we need a real chameleon on this one.

just kidding

Well, I found the teaser at the end of the movie enough to geek me out over this subject. I think after finally seeing it this past Friday I appreciated everything about the movie. My wife who is not a big Batman fan is still talking about it. I think I will be content to just sit back and wait to see what Nolan does for the next one.

When B89 came out everyone speculated for the next one as well. At that time Cher was pitched as Catwoman, Danny Devito as the Penguin, and Robin Williams as the Riddler.

Devito was great in Returns. Thank god Phiffer played Catwoman, and I hated Carrey as the Riddler. I still think Williams would have been better or John Malcovich.

Maybe this could be a great opportunity for Williams this time around. He has worked with Nolan before. I know he seems too heavy and old for the part, but I can take his manic anyday over Carrey.

I always had William Defoe or Tim Curry as my picks for B89. I love Jack and he did okay. But the movie was more about who was playing the villians in the first franchise. I want to see this franchise stick to the story like they did in this one. If Nolan does that it doesn't matter if Skreech from Saved By The Bell plays the Joker, it will be great.

They had a parfect guy to play the Joker but they wasted him; Cillian Murphy.

Love that Joker!
I just dont understand the logic in giving a middle aged actor who has yet to proven himself the job of playing Greatest Villian of All time!!!

out of those 4 id go with depp, he is such a devoted actor (like bale) and think that hes perception of the joker would rivals jack's.

can you imagine how pumped and excited the general movie going audience and us fans will be if we heard that either Sean Penn or Johnny Depp were cast as the Joker in the sequel to BEGINS?? Can you imagine the unbelievable buzz the film would generate? It would be great indeed! I'm licking my chops! :joker:

Because Joker was a middle aged failed comedian that couldn't prove himself. Crispin Glover is the living Joker.

We don't need any hype over "who's playing the Joker".

But I am curious though. Did anyone notice any common name actor in BB in a small role? I'm willing to wager that we did see the Joker in this movie at some point and just didn't know it.

Any quick eyes out there?

Why do you say that???

The other four were all hype over "who's playing who". After Batman Returns and even up until that point it was hype. Much like on the TV show of the 60's it was all about who's playing the parts.

To be totally honest Liam Neeson, Morgan Freemon, Gary Oldman and Michael Cain were the only ones I could pick out of a crowd from early casting. I've seen Bale and Murphy but I didn't know them as "oh yes the guy in..." I had to read what they had done to be reminded. Liam Neeson's part as Ras was so well hidden until I saw the movie I really had no clue.

I would like to see the part of the Joker to go the same way and any major character for that matter. Harvey Dent is the only other major player that needs casting. And I feel the same way about his casting. Once they cast him we will all be waiting for his transformation. And I would love to see them take their time on that.

I'm more excited about the next one coming out more than who's cast. I was very impressed with this movie as a Batman fan for the last 39 years of my life (I started as a fan at the age of 2). As a writer, actor, and comedian I was very impressed with the movie. It was a solid movie despite the fact that I am very biased towards the character of Batman. My wife is not a fan and she is still talking about how great it was.

I believe the next one will be just as good.

Exactly. I bet he could apply all that built up psychotic frustration hes been holding in all these years and "turn into" the joker. He IS the Joker.
