Adrien Brody is my first choice!

He'd be awesome. Bettany is my favorite of the actors in the running, so he's number one.

Roth was my top pick for quite some time, and I'd still personally love to see him do the part.

Lee was in Almost Famous, so he automatically eanrs a place in my Top Three.

Some Batfans don't want Brody as Joker because he might steal show from Bale like Nicholson did in Batman 89. I think that's stupid if Nolan writes about Bale's scenes more then I don't think Brody won't over shadow Bale.

It’s still Christopher Eccleston for me.

Just for the sake of a new name, what about David Tennant (Who is the new Doctor Who)?

He's been mentioned before. He looks the part but I've never seen him act.

You know, I like the look of the guy - I have never seen him act though. That pic there makes him look just like the pre-acid Joker in TKJ.

My NEW and IMPROVED Top 5:

1. Tim Roth (Planet of the Apes, Invincible, Reservoir Dogs, The Musketeer)

2. Jason Lee (Dogma, My Name is Earl, Chasing Amy, The Incredibles)

3. Alan Cumming (X-Men 2, Get Carter, Eyes Wide Shut, Goldeneye)

4. John Hawkes (Deadwood, Identity, Me and You and Everyone We Know)

5. Christopher Titus (Titus, Norman Rockwell is Bleeding)

I still like Bettany, but I worry about his role in Da Vinci Code being a little too close to Joker.. a crazy albino killer? It just begs comparison. I'll trust Hulme if Nolan picks him, but I don't know enough about him to choose him for the part.

Why did he have to get the role? Now Hulme will get it for sure. :(

This is a pretty good image of DT from one of the Harry Potter movies.

OH! The guy from HP is DT? Then he would be a GREAT CHOICE!

He is now number 5 on my list.

I never saw him in the Harry Potter movie but he was on TV here in a program called Casanova, thought his acting was pretty darn good on that ... and he is the new Dr. Who.

He never crossed my mind for The Joker but now he has been brought up me'likes the idea.

Was he good in Harry Potter?

Very good, very very creepy. In fact, if he was at all rumored he would be my number 2 choice.

im not a huge fan of this thread, because, johnney depp is the best actor for anything, if you need any role depp is the best person for that role unless its a hulk hogan biopic, depp won't get casted at this, he's too big, and won't do it, he's got pirates and rumored to be in sin city 2, depps out, my personal opinion who i voted for, tim roth, i love the actor, he has never let me down in roles that i wasn't sure of (dark water) fantastic actor, but again, he won't get casted, by all accounts, the lachey hulme guy will be the joker, or an even lesser known name, which i am cool with. this thread means nothing because the actors we want will most likley not be the joker.....

p.s. i hated nicholoson as the short fat bag of tricks joker, i agree with a couple of posters that the joker needs to be the sadistc guy that he is in the comics when commisioner gordon says once that he is linked or they can prove him to over 2,000 deaths...the jack joker would never be able to pull that off

Great choice! I've seen him in Harry Potter like a dozen times and never once thought of him! :batman:

I still like Del Toro. If any of you saw his performance in Sin City, you'd know what I'm talking about. He is good in just about every movie he's been in. Plus, he bears a striking resemblemce to the that actor in that old movie "The Man Who Laughs", which the Joker character was based on.Just my two cents.

I agree with the top unknown actors in the race but If WB wants to go the big name Jack Nicholson type actor, I would say Leo Di Caprio is my top choice. Like Depp he is a fantastic character actor who really loses himself in his roles (The Aviator, Gilbert Grape,ETC) and like Nicholson has that bad boy personna in his personal life. I would like to see some manips of Leo in Joker makeup.

Leo would be a better Black Mask or Harvey Dent.. I can't see him as the Joker.

Tim Roth, on the other hand. . .

I dunno if anyone's interested or not, but here's a quick live action clip of The Joker from an episode of the short lived tv show birds of prey.

Mark Hammill did the voiceover though it's a different actor.

The laugh is great, but it almost seems a bit over the top when heard in live action.

^I've never seen that before, thanks. Mark Hamill certainly has the perfect Joker voice but I didn't like the actor's look. Yeah, the laugh was great all the way. If a big name is cast as The Joker, Depp is the only choice! But it's unlikely they'll do that.

I still want one of these: Justin Theroux, Vincent Cassel, Christopher Eccleston or Adrien Brody.

I don't either, but I just saw eXistenZ and he was in it for like 15 minutes and I was just looking at him and saying...that guy has got so much Joker in him

He played BBC's Doctor Who and started in The Others with Nicole Kidman and started in 28 Days Later with Cillian Murphy.
