Joker Costume for Halloween

does any one have tips for applying the makeup? like azspidey you did an amazing job on it.. any tips for us?

so i think ive pretty much mastered the collodian method . insead of making a long deep fissure i have varied the depth and width so it is deepest and thinnest at the top and shallower and wider near the mouth. its still not 100% screen accurate but its closer than alot of the dodgy latex ones i have seen.

i have also used some med adhesive (like nu skin) to build it up around the edges of my mouth and at the same time seal the collodian from coming loose. add a touch of makeup to give it a pink scar color and i think it works. instead of making appliances for the scars i am going to make a small piece just for the bubbles at the top and use collodian for the rest. that way i wont have to worry about edges blending seamlessly or coming loose. i know the collodian can last up to 15 hours if done properly.

Those are fantastic!! How long does it last? And, are you able to do alot with it on (eating, drinking, talking)?

I'd like to think that the reason I didn't opt for a femme-Joker (even though I'm female) is because I have the balls to- ... bad phrase choice. Trying not to sound manly, here. xD ...er, is because I've the bravery to traipse about as a man. But I do feel odd in my rough draft costume. Put on 4 layers of men's clothing (which completely suppresses breasts) and add that to shoulder length hair... = insecurities.

Ah, I'll be alright. So long as I don't get called "sonny" on Halloween night. Or referred to using any masculine terms. xD I should have nothing to worry about. I went to the premier in my rough draft and some guy standing upstairs a good 15 feet above my head called down to my friend and I with a "Hey, ladies!" We'll see what people think of my gender once I add the make-up and hair dye. Here's for hoping I'm better looking than I think I am. XD

Now... I still can't find anything that'll be suitable as a coat for the life of me. And I've been searching as often as I get the chance. I may have to end up doing things that hard way (which isn't a happy thing for me. I'm a slacker). I'm going to have to make my own or order something off the web as a last resort. My experiences with purchasing clothes via the internet have been very unpleasant. If only I was as lucky as those of you have just so happened to find perfect coats at local thrift stores. x.x I'd be satisfied with something that looks relatively like his that I could dye. Oh well.

I honestly feel a bit offended at that. I'm doing a femme joker because I liked the idea that I pulled together. I thought it would be fun, to stand out a little bit from the other Jokers that will be walking around on halloween and different conventions. Also it gives me an excuse to buy a corset. Doing a female joker takes some "balls" as well. I mean there are a lot of people who have and will critisize the girls for doing it.

Many boys I've met have said rather "dickish" things to me about dressing up as a female joker. I pay no mind though, making this costume is fun. And reading this board is too. So in a way, I have the ovaries to stand right next to the boys looking damn cool in my costume.

@ DaRkVeNgeanCe: yea i just took the background out, i kinda realise i shouldnt av done that now cos it looks poop, but it'll do, ill put some better ones on when i have my shirt and trousers too.

@ deathfromabove: great scars man!

Woah, deathfromabove those look so good, I'm really impressed at how real those look!!

:D

I'm sure there was no offense intended, I do think it will take as much courage to go as a femme-Joker as it will to go as regular Joker because there will be soooo many people doing it this year, that you will want your costume to stand out that little bit more than the others.

I would anyway.

Can't wait to see everyone's finished pieces :word:

so i have been looking around at makeup kits, to see which one i would like to get. I was told on here that they used aquacolor makeup on the film, so i figured i would look for them...

i came across these two types:

Ben Nye magiCake Aqua Paints:
http://stageandtheatermakeup.com/bnmagiaq.htm

Kryolan aquacolors:
http://www.dauphines.co.uk/product-...up-palette-gb-6-colours-for-facepainting.html

What do you think, which would be best, Ben Nye or Kryolan? will they do the trick? maybe give it the distressed look i want, then seal it with something like Final Seal by Ben Nye??

i did joker last year - because i knew it would be overdone this year.. and it was great - have some pics on my myspace heh

You don't have to go with something that suppresses the fact that you're female. Spade is going with a corset, so take the general idea and run with it. Substitute out some pieces for more feminine ones. And if people don't like it, then they don't matter. It's all about whether you're happy with it or not. In some ways, doing a femme-Joker is even better than going for screen accuracy because you have the liberty to make your own choices with the seperate pieces. But seriously, go wild. Personally, I'd love to see what the ladies on this board come up with, because they're definately going to be more creative than the guys, which will undoubtedly look the same. And yes, I'm a guy, so being able to check out the ladies as well as their costumes is a plus. :oldrazz:

My hero! *swoon*

That made me very sad. I feel bad now, somebody should invade Finland, conquer it, and establish Halloween as the foremost national holiday!
Yes, somebody should! But people in Finland aren't really into dressing up. We have Easter and May Day, but it's only for children. Our Easter is like Halloween, but it's all about easter bunnies and (good) witches etc. and it's only for children. It was fun when you were younger (and a girl), but I think Halloween is much better... Maybe someday we will have Halloween too. I hope.

this is a litlle off topic but does anyone have a picture or know what the bolo ties loook like on the gotham thugs????????

Does anyone have a list with refrence pics. of the calling cards the Joker uses through out the movies? Enspecialy the colors of the cards, and what scene they were in. I know of a few, but would like to make sure I've got it right, etc. :)

Hello, I've been monitoring this thread for a while, and finally decided to join.

I've learned a ton, and have enjoyed looking at everyone's awesome costumes.

I've just begun assembling my costume, but I have everything on my list picked out, now all I need is some money!

The pants were REALLY giving me some trouble. I've been a long time fan of Goodwill, but wasn't sure how well I'd do looking for joker pieces.

I was wrong.

First thing I found was this light blue blazer I thought matched well for the undercoat.

Picture059.jpg

Second, I found these purple pants. The flash dulls the color. They're a very nice, deep purple.

Picture067.jpg

Then I found the holy grail. As I said earlier, the purple pinstripe pants were seemingly impossible to find. I figured those purple pants above would do well enough, until I found this suit.

Picture.jpg

At first I thought it was just a jacket, as the suits and blazers sometimes get mixed up because the two sections are right next to eachother. Then I opened the jacket and found what I consider my very own Holy Grail of Goodwill finds.

Picture062.jpg

Here's the fabric up close.

Picture064.jpg

I know their supposed to be white pinstripes, but hey, what are the odds right? I haven't seen pants that matched well enough anywhere, besides the 4 trillion dollar SithCamaro (or whatever his name is) ones.

Anyways, this is just the beginning. I'll be updating as soon as I get more pieces.

BTW, if anyone is interested in the plain purple pants above, PM me. They're a size 40, but could be easily altered, or you could have them altered for like 10-15 bucks at an alteration shop.

I don't know what to do with the pinstripe blazer either. If you want it, PM me. I'll let it go for next to nothing.

Thanks!

I'd like to think that the reason I didn't opt for a femme-Joker (even though I'm female) is -snip-

I'm also female, and I'm doing a "regular" Joker. For two reasons. One, I'm a perfectionist, and when it comes to costumes, that means screen accuracy. :woot: Two, my reasoning: if guys can have fun dressing up like girls (you know they do), why can't girls have fun dressing up like guys? It's a costume, just have fun however you like.

Yea, same with me, but I went more for the Jack Nicholson look. This is the photo of me that was accepted for RorysDeathKiss.com (I look like a hot mess in this picture cuase I was infact a hot mess by that point in the night... running down the street full of tequila and screaming nonsensical gibberish):

How did you find out?! :wow: Please don't tell anyone else! And good find on the pants Blindside; you're right, those are the most accurate I've seen by far. I've been scouring thrift stores but I can't seem to find any purple pants, so I may just end up dying if I have to. But now at least I know there's some hope out there.

Thanks man.

I actually went to 2 different Goodwill's that day.

I was super excited when I saw the first pair, but at the other one, I nearly had a little party right there in the store when I found those pinstripe pants. I have been looking all over online, and almost settled on dying some khaki's.

I also saw a purple wool long coat with big lapels just like Heath's, but the sleeves were really short and the buttons were on the opposite side since it was a woman's coat.

I was super lucky that day I suppose.

Offer is open on the other pants. I'll sell them to you for the price they went for at Goodwill + shipping if you have paypal. Much better than paying 25 bucks for the same type on eBay just because the seller put "heath ledger joker" in the description.

That made me happy (:
One of the main reasons I'm not going as a femme Joker is because I want a very accurate costume, as hard as that will be to pull off for a 16 year old with no money :whatever: I think it just takes "balls" [or ovaries :oldrazz:] in general to want to dress up and be this dedicated to it in the first time. Girls dressing up like femme Joker? Go for it. Girls dressing up like Joker? Go for it. Guys dressing up like femme Joker or nurse? Go for it. As long as you have fun and get those suprised reactions people will be giving you, then you're set.
