Maybe this doesn't deserve it's own post.. But I was just watching the movie again and something stuck out to me this time..

"You said you were a man of your word"
"Oh.. I am. ..I'm only burning my half"

But wait a minute.. Didn't Joker say he would kill Batman and he wanted 'half' for his services.. Well he didn't kill Batman. So why does he deserve half??

Everything else he says he sticks too, but not this.

yeah i was a bit confused at this part. someone please explain?

He isn't a man of his word, not in the least. During the entire duration of the film, he lies to manipulate people. :hoboj:

He IS exceptionally good at figuring out what makes people tick. For the mob, it's money. Once Lau was in GPD custody, Joker figured he just needed to get the money back, not necessarily kill Batman. The mob only wanted Batman gone because he was making it difficult for the mob to launder their money - it wasn't anything really personal.

I mean, what would killing Batman do in those circumstances? Lau would still be in police custody, with the mob's money located who-knows-where.

Joker probably got Lau to squeal (heh), then called up Maroni and the Chechen and said, "Batman may be still alive but I got your money, so come and get it."

Whoever would take The Joker as a man of his word is dumb.

Trust Anita...She freakin' knows all!

It was all part of the plan.

The Joker's been a notorious liar for decades. This movie was obviously no exception to that rule.

Not to change topics but Ive got a better one for you... in the wharehouse when Joker burns the money... how in the hell does Joker know Reese is on live television about to spill the beans on Batmans identity?? Theres no radio or TV in there playing yet he reaches into his pocket pulls out a celly and phones in to GNN? HTF? Riddle me that one Anita!! lmao

Well I think with that one he heard the announcement about Batman's identity being revealed "Live at 5" on that GCN. So one of his trusty goons reminded him to call in the fun. :hoboj:

He's the Joker...that's enough explination...

^^^ not good enough... lmao but hey im not here to nit pick scenes like some ppl in those other so-called plot hole threads lmao
i loved every sec of the movie.. just certain things that caught my attention and make go hmmmmm.... sometimes im overly observant ;)

the Joker cant be trusted.
Thats what make him such a good villian.

umm no...it is good enough...

if 70 years worth of history should teach you anything about the Joker, it's that he's the f**king Joker.

There are no rules...no limits, no truths, no reasonings, no nothing.

He's a psychotic clown who maims, lies and slaughters...laughing all the way through this downward spiral of anarchy, madness and blood in a neverending struggle as the Chaos to Batman's Order.

There's no rhyme and reason to his actions and motives...save those he holds for himself, in a psyche so monstrous and horrifying we'll neither be able to comprehend it...or want to comprehend it.

Another thing that got my attention: How's the Joker so sure that Batman will find his final location that he prepared the hostages dressing them as goons?

Because Joker might be insane, but he's not stupid...he knows Batman would have to be resourceful in order to do the things he does.

ok.. the Joker can be Joker... but still doesnt exlain how he knew to call in GCN at that exact time that Reese was on there.. he had to have a monitor on in the warehouse watching the show to even know they were taking calls from veiwers a la Larry King no? lmao

^it's trivial to take nit-picking to THAT much of an extreme.

This is where one needs to pull the "It's a movie...who cares..." card; like so...

----

"How can the Death Star make such a huge explosion in space when space is a vacuum that doesn't allow sound?"

"It's a movie...who cares..."

----

The Joker found out somehow and thusly the story could move forward in a valid way...that's it.

the movie shows the GCN broadcast is advertised before it comes on. I'm assuming someone claiming to reveal Batman's true I.D. would be big news in Gotham.

And being that Joker is paid up in all the right places I'm sure he found out.

The Broadcast could have also started with an outline stating how it would go...

"Before we get onto what you have to say; what do you feel about these new developments with the Joker; after that we'll take some calls"

Its not really all that outrageous.

Great, another challenge. :hoboj:

We don't know what he where he was between escaping the MCU and organizing the meeting with Maroni and the Chechen. He could have been somewhere with a TV, or one of his goons could have seen it and radioed in. It's not that far of a stretch, anyway. :oldrazz:

That's the explanation I have with Joker blowing up Gotham General. How does he know that Reese is still alive at that point anyway? One of his goons must have been at a TV somewhere and radioed in that there was no indication that Reese had been killed. There's a cut between Joker using the hand sanitizer and taking out the detonator, so it could have possibly happened then.

All these plotholez are making my brain hurt!!!

Gahhh :bh:

The Joker probably intended to blow up the hospital with or without Reese dead; this was a way of keeping everyone busy so he could accomplish his own personal goal: corrupting Dent. As for knowing when to call GCN, not sure whether he watches much TV, but one of his henchmen might have tipped him off to Reese's appearance on the Engel show and texted him when GCN was starting to take calls.

Whether he's a man of his word depends on whether the mob ultimately wanted him to kill Batman or just get their money back, killing Batman if necessary.

He is not consistently honest, however. The scar stories don't really count, but he deliberately switches the locations of Dent and Rachel when he finally tells Batman where they are.

The Joker in his very being is a contradiction. "My father gave me these scars", "my wife gave me these scars". His ideal is that there is no ideal. His only order is chaos.

"I'm a man of my word", is a sick joke.

The Nolan brothers love the theme of deception, and the Joker utilizes deception and anyother means to cause chaos.

what plot holes? They don't need to explain everything to us. Like heres a good one how come the movie run's 2 hours long and we never see anyone go to the bathroom, I had to go like five times during the movie.:oldrazz:then again no one in the movie was drinking water like I was. Still I always thought that a flight to Hong Kong would take like a day Bruce did it in like 5 seconds!! I mean what the hell.
