Some time ago there was this thread about the Jokers fighting skills and how much of a physical threat he will be to Batman. I'm guessing not much. He's no ninja and he's not particularly strong or anything. Although he does fight dirty and there's always the element of surprise when dealing with the Joker. And he's familiar with firearms.

But what about those badass knives? Do you guys think that they are an integral part of the character? After all, he is holding one in the poster and "has nothing but knives in his pockets".

Just how skilled do you think he is with those knives? I hope he's not just some random stabber. I hope we get to see some cool knife play. You know. Maybe one or two scenes where the Joker is doing some cool and quick move with a knife.

You think the Joker is going to cut/stab Batman in this movie? Yeah I know what they say about Batmans suit..."this sucker will stop a knife". But maybe the Joker is such a knife expert that he's able to find a weak spot. A joint or something.

if he only had one knife...i would expect him to just be a random stabber. however, he seems to have about 8. i'm guessing he is skilled like a knife thrower at a circus. he even draws for one in a very similar fashion during the trailer.

i also expect him to use knives to carve smiles into his victims faces. it will probably happen off camera though.

No I don't think the Joker will use knifes, he will probably cut smiles with them but I don't think he will stab Batman with it.

You mean like, Le Chiffre from Casino Royale doing that fancy trick with the poker chip? Hmm, it's possible.

In terms of his "stabbing skills" -- um, yeah. In the prologue the guy comes across as a pretty lethal killer. He disposes of the Bank Manager with formidable ease, possibly showing that he is very skilfull with guns and...stuff.

He's as soft as ****, but he definitely knows how to use a gun.

He also threatens Rachel with a knife.

I like the knives... It fits the character. He has no remorse. For him it's probably more fun to cut somebody up, than shoot a person from a distance.

...or his mouth? lol

I know what you're saying though, i just hope that at some point in the movie he gives a certain someone a little chelsea grin.

He reminds me of the Headless Horseman from Sleepy Hollow in one street shot towards the end. It's a nice way for him to be dangerous without turning Joker into a full-blown fighter

I think a lot of people downgrade knives. This is the Joker we're talking about here. He has anything and everything up his sleeve. We'll see what he can do with them. Knives can pale in comparison to Batman's weapons, but with the Joker utilizing them, you never know what'll happen.

Plus, he looks like he can manage his own and whatnot, considering his handling of guns in the trailer. The bazooka speaks for itself.

I don't think the knives will play that much of an integral part. Not in the way they'll provide us with some kind of "show-stopping knife battle".

I think it just doesn't fit with the Joker's character as we're gonna see him... he's a messy fighter, random and full of wild abandon, not someone who'd have trained for a specific skill such as knife fighting. The knives are probably more like toys to him than weapons... he loves cutting people (and himself?) up, but I think his real weapon of choice is explosives. If he were just a serial killer, being proficient with knives would be a good idea, but he's a mass murderer: blowing things up kills a lot more people.

I might be wrong, but I don't think he's gonna engage Batman in close combat, doing all kindsa fancy tricks with those knives. He'd rather fire a bazooka at him.

goood lord what about the LINT somoene make a thread about how important the lint plays in this...

also what kind of fabric softener.

Yea, I don't think we'll have Joker's knives vs Batman's gauntlets, a mini-sword fight :woot:

Maybe his new projectile weapon will come into play though

But Batman could analyze the lint and find out its origin! :oldrazz:

Considering the images that we saw previously of the Joker kicking Batman, who's being held by his goons, it's obvious he'll play dirty and that's certainly what the Joker is all about. There are no rules in his arsenal.

And I agree with you when you say that he won't really engage Batman in close combat, but maybe he can hold his own for an X amount of time?

Not gunna' happen. The Joker has never been able to hold his own againt Batman in hand-to-hand combat. Read "The Killing Joke"; Batman kicks the crap out of the Joker.

i think they will play a bigger part than people think...considering he has about eight of them.

You picked a bad example, TKJ is one of the few times the Joker actually manages to hold his own in a fight. Remember how he stuns batman with a wooden plank after gouging his eyes?

He has eight knives, probably only because he is fanatical. He loves knives I guess. He dosn't really need eight, but the fact that he carries eight is really ****ed up.

In Batman #1, Joker was was originally made to be a physical challenge to Batman, but unfortunately over the years evolved into having to use his wit more than his fist.

That rhymes. :o
No, not really.

We've seen a bit of both in the leaked stills. Joker taking a serious beating in interrogation and getting the upper hand with the help of a goon at the party.

Yes, but that's not "hand-to-hand" combat, is it? That's not the Joker blocking a punch and then throwing a counter attack, is it? That's simply the Joker playing dirty, which is one of his main strengths. He always has some sort of accessery to throw his opponent off. But in terms of fighting, the Joker cannot contend with Batman.

Exactly. I mean the guy has like a friggin' collection of knives! So I'm assuming that he finds knives very fascinating and that he's quick and has an impressive level of dexterity.

You mean like, Le Chiffre from Casino Royale doing that fancy trick with the poker chip? Hmm, it's possible.
Yeah something like that would be badass. I hope the Joker playing with knives isn't like this running gag in the movie but maybe one scene where he is showing off and being all intimidating and s**t.

And maybe Batman has the Joker pinned down at some point and the Joker just makes some quick move and gets to cut Batman. That would be off the chain as well.

Hand-to-hand combat is a broad term. You don't need to be a trained fighter to do it. Simply using your hands to fight fills the criteria in my opinion. Although the Joker is a very cheap fighter.

If Joker was a physical challenge to Batman, then he must have been taught in the ways of martial arts -- because Batman, in BB, kicks the crap out of about four ninjas in one sitting.

I actually wasn't familiar with the word "lint" before so I looked it up. That's pretty funny. :woot:

He probably just carries eight cause he's nuts about knives...

"this little knife stabs your kidney, this little knife gauges your eyes out and THIS little knife cuts you a niiiiice biiiiig smile..."

...weapon of choice?... christopher wlaken?
