The Dark Knight Joker Wears a Mask

to some people, wearing makeup is like wearing mask. I've hear it stated that way plent of times. Example:"I have to finish putting my face/mask on, and I'll be right down honey"

The worst thread ever is what the official Harvey Dent casting thread has become. You have to cypher through all the infighting about SR to even read an inkling of Harvey talk.

well, technically, he is going to wear a mask ... prosthetics. he never says the Joker wears a mask, he says he, Heath Ledger, is going to wear a 'mask'

Isn't all acting donning a mask? Isn't it like a builder saying "I'm taking this new job and, dude, im going to lay some brick!"

If he's speaking metaphorically, isn't he repeating himself? It's a character he's never done before and he's donning a mask. A bit like saying football's two equal length portions both consisting of 45 minues, and, whatsmore, it's a game of two halfs

That and he gave an interview whereby he said he hasn't been tested for the makeup, but has had a 3d headscan.

He. Wears. A Mask.

No. He. Doesn't.

Wow, what a useless thread.

1.) He's almost certainly speaking metaphorically, as so many others have already pointed out.

2.) He will certainly be wearing makeup of one sort of another (hence the headscan) but if he wears a mask it's no more than what Michael Dorn wore as Worf in Star Trek TNG, or, you know, Mark Alaimo as Gul Dukat. If there's a "mask" in any sense, it would be makeup appliques to alter the shape of his face in some way or other. But I doubt Nolan would go for a lot of that.

So, no mask.

Now, let's move on to another discussion.

Bluejays are not actually blue, they are grey. The blue color comes from a special property of their feathers, which refract light so as to appear blue. Which is why in some lighting they look less blue and in some lighting they look startlingly blue.

True story.

Isn't that fascinating?

when u put on a bunch of makeup isnt that like putting on a mask.

Im sure he's wearing make up but still most people here are so fanboy to the core that you are afraid of change or something different. Mask or make up Heath will still put on a show. These movies will always be more about the Batman than the villains. You guys are expecting an all out Joker flick. Not going to happen.

Joker's mask is to TDK forums as "what's in Spideyz eyE!?!?" is to the Spider-boards.

Jeez, he's not gonna wear a mask. :down

LOL!

LMFAO, the "what's in spidey's eye" debacle was a classic. Even worse than the "I SeE TEH SCARCROW IN TEH CLOUDS OF TEH T3ASR POST3R!!2" crap we had here a couple of years ago.

The "JOK3R WEASR TEH MAKS!!1" bull will go down in history the same way.

you don't have to be a fanboy to know that joker wearing a mask would be a horrible, stupid idea. i don't care if he's only in the film for 10 seconds.

"We all wear masks, metaphorically speaking."
-Ben Stein, The Mask

guh...he even once in an interview refered to "the mask" jack nicholson wore when playing the character....geez....

Here's an idea: Let's wait and see what Joker looks like before we make judgements. He probably purposely said he wears a mask just so he could piss all the sensitive fanboys off.

It's green goblin all over again. aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh

Oh. So it's not blue, it just reflects blue light! Yeah, that's called being blue. :oldrazz:

But, back onto the topic at hand. Joker's not wearing a mask, unless you call face paint and prosthetics a mask. In other words, even if Heath Ledger wears something that can be considered a mask, Joker wont be. In terms of story, the Joker's face will be his face, and not a mask. And even then, i wouldn't call face paint or prosthetics a "mask" per se, and I doubt that's what Heath means when he says "mask". He means it metaphorically, and that's painfully obvious if you've read every time he uses it.

I could care less how long the Joker is in the movie....I want to see "The Dark Knight" and a couple of other neat villains. Joker is just the chery on top.
