The Dark Knight Joker Wears a Mask

The Joker will wear many masks when he is robbing a bank.

A mask would be the worst idea ever. Just beats out ugly people reproducing (what is up with that, anyway)? But no, it's a metaphor.

Jim Carrey: We all wear masks, methaphorically speaking.... :oldrazz:

Sal Valestra? But I'm black.

What about casting me to play Lucius Fox or his grandson?
If Harvey Dent can be black, so can Sal Valestra :ninja:

There's no mask, people.

It's a metaphor he keeps using in interviews. Many celebs repeat the same things in different interviews because they're always asked very similar questions. This is the way he views his part. He has to figuratively don a mask to create this characters.

Or maybe Jon Peters has secretly become the new producer of The Dark Knight and one day he walked into the boardroom and said..."hey that V character wore a mask of a white face and smile...let's let Heath do the same thing as the Joker....and while your at it throw in a giant f***ing spider with a white mask and smile on as well!! This movie is gonna be big!!"

I personally think he is speaking in metaphor.

"If he's speaking metaphorically, isn't he repeating himself? It's a character he's never done before and he's donning a mask. A bit like saying football's two equal length portions both consisting of 45 minues, and, whatsmore, it's a game of two halfs."

just think about that sentence; "it's a character I've never done before AND I'm going to be donning a mask" - scary innit?

I dont know why i didn't think of it before, but this statement proves even more that it's a metaphor. Think about it. Sure, he may be repeating himself, but it's either that or he's completly randomly switching topics. How would the interview have sounded if he was talking about the unique pesonality of his character, then said "it's a character i've never done before, and i'm gonna have green hair"? No question about appearance or costume was asked, so why would he randomly blurt something out like that? Why does he always use the "mask" comment when talking about his vision for the character?

K, can this topic be dead now?

Exactaly, and I concur with Katsuro, this topic is tiresome, it's almost as bad as the "OMFG I SEE SOMETHING IN TEH EYE!!" in the Spider-man Forums.

yea...heath ledger is not wearing a mask to play the joker..other than possible makeup for the film...I am amazed how long this has gone on...

possible? he better be wearing some f**king make up for the film.

obviously if his skin is white the makeup team will have to apply MAKE UP. Lets use our heads here

I wonder if they are gonna do prothetics for his chin and nose to make him look more like TAS or DEAD END, cuz his facial features dont look jokerish to me at all. His chin is ok but his nose is too broad and not pointy enough IMO.

I didn't watch it, and I don't want to. On other breaking news: Heath Ledger mind f***s all the fanboys.

Meh, the story sucked, the acting was ridiculous, and the ending was dumb as hell.
By the end I was expecting Jason Voorhees, Mike Myers, Bogeyman, Santa Claus, (etc) to show up... :whatever:

Ok, I don't like it either, but let's just agree now that the Joker clearly wears a mask

I'd be very surprised if Mr Ledger is constantly speaking in metaphor

You sir, are quite stupid.

You have clearly taken what Mr Ledger has said out of context.
The Joker will not be wearing a mask, only a white face w/ red lips.
Heath Ledger's 'mask' is the character that he is going to be portraying in TDK.

He's not wearing a mask for the simple reason that although it may be odd to constantly use the same metaphors in your interviews, it would be downright stupid to constantly talk about LITERALLY WEARING A MASK. I mean, Christian Bale and Tobey Maguire are actually wearing masks and I've never heard them say in an interview how much they're looking forward to pulling a piece of cloth or latex over their head. Try this: replace "mask" with any other article of dress. Example:

"Mr. Pacino, are you exicted about this role?"
"Oh, yes, I am. As an actor, I always look forward to wearing pants. I like to don a pair of pants with each new role I approach, and this particular role is providing me with some very interesting pants."

It's an expression. No more talk now.
