Okay, I've been thinking about this all today and I was wondering: Could the Joker's father have actually been a good guy? Think about it, he told the guy he held at knife point he reminded him of his father, which means his father could of thought of him as a thug. And what do you all think became of his father? I would say the most likely scenario is that the Joker probably killed him.

Personally I kinda felt for the Joker when he told his story about his father. Like he sounded like his dad was an *******

Don't know why, but this made me laugh.

Well, I can actually believe some parts of his back story. After all he based it around The Killing Joke Themes. As having a father like he said he had, I would not doubt he became the person he is actually.

I think that he was going to end up that way regardless. For all we know he may have had okay parents, but was still a little nuts.

I think the Joker pulled the story about his father and the story about his wife completely out of his ass and we really have no idea what really happened to him, but hey I could be wrong.

i think Joker WAS the father he was talking about...

We could all be wrong, but ya gotta admit it's fun to guess. I think that even if his father was a drinker and fiend, he wasn't as bad as he made him out to be. When he told the first story, it actually sounded like something the Joker himself would do. Either that or he and his father are nearly 100% the same.

we will never know the right answer because it doesn't exist...who cares?

Obviously everyone who has put forth their own theory. Don't like it? Don't post. It's truly a simple concept to grasp.

I like to think that the Joker in this has the same thing as Joker in Killing Joke, where he remembers his past different everytime he tries, depending on what's around him at the moment. He's in a bar, so he puts together a story about his father being a drunk. There's an age appropriate man calling him a thug, he gets images of his father, although now different, to go along with that. He's talking to someones girlfriend, so he gets a story about how he used to be in love. It's all shaped by his surroundings, whether on purpose, or due to his not remembering correctly.

Would it be possible for someone to be that way in real life?

sure i guess it would be possible for someone to be so out of it that they can't recall what parts of their memories are fiction or reality

or who they are i mean look at that clown that got arrested for stealing from a cinema dressed as the joker

Well, he was just an idiot. Me & my mom were laughing over that earlier in the day yesterday. Stupid emo kid.

My father.....waaaas.....a drinker. And a *fiend*.

One of the best deliveries in the film.

it was definately made up lol, im surprised anybody is arguing for them being true. this is the joker we are talking about. he doesn't see a point in telling the truth about how he got his scars or anything else unimportant for that matter. he just says watever fits the situation and suits him best.

Anyone remember the "I Believe In Harvey Dent Too" viral marketing? Where we got our first picture of The Joker? We had to enter in our email address to get the location of a pixel to remove and slowly it will reveal the image of the Joker. Well the email that you get had a subject of "a tragic past" and someone had posted this article where it said that Ledger and Nolan decided that the Joker had an abusive father so if it is all true then it fits in with the "tragic past" thing.

We find out that he killed Joker's mommy right in front of him while laughing, that sounds quite bad to me. Personally I think Jokers dad killing his mom while laughing would be a better origin.

We can't confirm that, if the Joker's story was true then you got scars two different times. He was simply lying.

I think Joker pulled the knife on the old man, only because he was elderly, and it just reminded him of his father, not because of the actions. But one never knows.

If the Joker had been married before, there would have been some sort of legal records of it.
Remeber, when he was at the jail, they said there was no record of him anywhere.

The Joker's Origin is Multiple Choice. All are right, all are wrong.
