By all means, move this if it's out of place, inappropriate, or whatever (chances are, you will)... but here it goes.

We all know The Joker gets captured by the police, put in jail, and is interrogated by Batman. (have we not seen those pics floating around? Are you not in the spoiler forum?)

Anyway, we ALSO know that Joker ends up wearing a police uniform - which is an homage to Batman #1, Joker's first appearance.

Having said that, could Joker's "escape" be a tribute to Hannibal Lecter's escape in The Silence of the Lambs?

Quick play-by-play:

- Joker is in jail.
- Cop comes in (to give him a meal, or whatever).
- Joker attacks him.
- He switches clothes.
- He removes his make-up.
- He walks out of jail as a cop.
- The real cop remains in the cell, unconsious until someone discovers him.

I think this is rather plausible, and it would look uber-cool on screen.

Thoughts?

Joker doesn't wear the cop uniform to escape jail. If he were to do that, he'd put on the uniform and run as far as he possibly can. In TDK, it appears he dresses up as a cop to kill someone in broad daylight.

I don't think Joker gets arrested until after he kills the mayor.

EDIT: ...Or, whoever he's supposed to kill.

Or maybe he'll be like Batman, and just just vanish, leaving behind a body-double in make-up, just like in the Killing Joke.

OH ****!

I just thought of something:

Remember the spoiler pictures: The Joker's make-up is running, and it clearly looks applied. What if -- WHAT IF -- that isn't the real Joker!!!! What if that is, in fact, his body double because the REAL Joker has escaped, just like in The Killing Joker, and is busy hiding out in the Toy Factory?!!?!?

OH ****KKK!

No no no!

He's not in a toy factory, he's in Wonka's chocolate factory.

Whatever, you know what I'm talking about.

Actually... what if Heath isn't really the Joker at all?

Think about it. We're talking Nolan.

If Ledger is a fake Joker, then it will ruin the movie because it'll be the exact same trick Nolan pulled in Batman Begins.

Yes, we're talking Nolan. And Nolan is much too smart to use the same plot twist two movies in a row.

I wouldnt say a tribute to silence of the lambs at all but def a good comparason of the cleverness and cunning ways of the joker.

Lame!

They need to do something a little more clever than that i think thats been done in movies and t.v. about a million times.

This scenario leaves out the role of the bomb in his plot to escape prison from the sides.

Plus the police who's uniform he stolen is found by someone and it doesn't appear to be in a jail cell when he is found - maybe outside the funeral... who knows for sure, but certainly does not seem like in a prison cell...

Woah. I brought this idea up a while ago and had a pretty healthy discussion with a couple folks. And it was just a suggestion. I'm not even trying to read most spoilers.

- Joker is in jail.
- He removes his make-up.

If the Joker is in jail, they have already removed his makeup. Nor are they leaving anything (knives, guns, grenades, joy buzzers) in his pockets. It's routine police procedure, they way prisoners are processed. So right off the bat, so to speak, you have failed to think this through.

How can a guy with a cut grin disguise himself as a cop and not being recognised???

Thank you, Officer jtfaria.:whatever:

Not me, my uncle was a police sergeant. Joker simply would not remain in police custody without processing, it's standard procedure. One of the first things they do is take your picture. Makeup OFF. Anything else rings false, and would hurt the movie.

Of course, Nolan and crew have an advantage over the guy who started this thread: Paid advisors who correct such mistakes.
