The Dark Knight Jokers humor

... I watched a couple of episodes of Batman Beyond... then decided to not watch it anymore. ever.

I like the super sanity explanation from Arkham Asylum for Joker. Where he isn't really crazy; he just has no real personality and so keeps reinventing himself every so often sometimes as a harmless prankster, and sometimes as a brutal sadistic madman. Also he has no control of processing sensory input, he just reacts and goes with the flow.

-Cop: Put your hands in the air scumbag!
Joker: Ya know, my gym teacher used to tell me, 'if you take your eyes off the ball, you'll never hit it'.
Cop: What?

He punches the distracted cop in the face, knocking him out.

-Batman: Let me tell you a little joke.

Batman punches Joker.

Joker: Oh come on Batman! Everybody knows that you have to tell the joke before you give the punchline!

Make the Joker humorous to kids? NO. The Joker isn't supposed to be funny for kids, one of my favorite Jokers- as I stated above is the one from 'Return of the Joker'. Because it's plain sickening, sadistic, scary and you can see how the Joker finds it funny. I don't think we should find what the Joker does funny, we should be scared of him because he thinks the things that he does is funny. This is the type of Joker we should get.

The first films wasn't marketed towards kids, and that's one of the things teenagers and adults love about it. It's serious and takes itself like a serious drama while maintaining the fun. That's what seperates Batman Begins from the crowd.

Exactly! Joker is only supposed to be funny to himself. I don't want to find Joker funny, that defeats the purpose of having him as a sick, disturbed villian.

I always liked when he says to Batman "Robin is mine" That whole scene showed how evil the Joker really is.

That whole Joker kidnapping Robin thing is why I could watch that movie, I wasn't much of a Batman Beyond fan at all.

Ok, I got THE Joker moment. One that shows all charactertistics of his shattered personality.

The following scene is taken from Batman '89. It shows the over-the-top humor, sadism, and general genious that is the Joker:

The revolver with the 4 foot long barrel.

At first glance, I thought I read the thread title as "Joke's humor"...regwec must be happy. :cmad: :(

As per IBIHDT.com, we've nothing to worry about.

And pertaining the discussion of the Joker's sanity, he may not be insane by the legal defenition (incapable of controlling your actions), but he's certainly not sane. Then again, the legal defenition of most things isn't that good.

That's exactly the point. He's somewhere in the middle. His sanity (or lack thereof) isn't at a definite spot, it's indefinable, just like his past. That's part of the mystery of the character. We don't know why he is like he is, and we don't really know if he's nuts or just really sadistic or what.

Now this might surprise some, but I really want some of the Joker aspects from the film BATMAN BEYOND: RETURN OF THE JOKER. The PG-13 cut, especially his treatment of Robin. Why? Because that Joker has always scared me and still does- really fcking sadistic and takes pure joy in it to the extent that it's borderline scary. That whole idea of making a home video of doing that and how he did it- very very creepy, something we wouldn't laugh at, but the Joker would find to be hilarious!

Does anyone else like how the Joker was depicted in that film?

The part where he turns back to the henchman he just killed and goes "Oh, right...dead."

That's the type of Joker I wanna see.

joker i wanna see a a serious one but not once that laughs all the time ever now and then if u know what i mean

I fully agree with you on that... That home video was very creepy

from the scraps we have been given so far, i am not even slightly worried at this point. looks like they have hit the nail on the head as far as the character is concerned.

i have a slight problem with the look but the second official pic of the joker put my fears to rest quite a bit.

He needs dark Humor. A Loooonnnnggg time ago I gave this as an example of joke by the Joker:

Police Man: *Smoking a cigar*
Joker: You know officer.... *Slams the cigar into the mans mouth and
eventually chokes him to death with it*.....Smoking kills.

Not that great, but dark humor like that is what he should do. Dark, so its not real campy and it shows his brutality, but it still does show hes and insane funny guy.

My favorite Joke he's ever said in a comic that i've read goes like this from TLH. Joker steals a plane and there are a few panels showing dead crew members. He says " Pilot, check, Navigator check." He then comes to a stuwardess with a huge smile gripping a ciggarette in her mouth at the filter with ash hanging off, and then says "Stewardess, Federal regulations prohibit smoking on this flight!" hahaha gets me everytime.

I agree, I always HATED Batman Beyond. I wanted a good Bruce Batman cartoon without Superman comin in with his red undies and spit curl leavin silent but deadlys in the cave.

I expect the humor of The Joker to be that of Alex´s from A Clockwork Orange which would be great

i think he is going to be a scociopathic, murdering manic-depressive vain bastard. i for one can't wait.

idk why but for some reason when I think of the Joker I think of that Seal song "We're never gonna survive unless we get a little bit crazy"

Except minus the whole...raping people thing. That part wouldn't go over too well with the MPAA if they're aiming for a PG-13 rating.

I want The Joker to sing "Mr. Sandman" as he carves smiles into people's faces.

The Joker makes me crack up.

This is like the 5th old thread you've bumped today--and with an annoying post to bring it back up into Page 1. You're pushing all the newer threads (that show new news) into farther pages. It's really annoying.
