My first question is why do we have to choose between the two? It's like giving us a choice between a Bruce Wayne hunted by his demons because of his parents death or a Bruce Wayne who becomes the Batman and we have to choose between them. Ok, a bad analogy, I'll admit, but we really shouldn't have to choose. INIT. I strongly believe the normal skin is the makeup theory. I would also love if his hair was perma-green but wouldn't be too dissapointed if it wasn't.
This poll seems quite irrelevant to the inquiry, it is too straight forward and black & white. I come to the conclusion that the original poster is biased and decided to create a thread in which he knew many would answer to the second option. The poll fails to have any kind of center, where is the answer of "both," which is the one true end all to be all answer.
And wheter the film will be cool or not has nothing to do with the discussion of "Is the Joker without face bleaching really the Joker". You sort of missed the point. The movie might be great, but to some, including a permanent visage to the Joker is a key essential, like the murder of the Waynes, which should not be moved, but around which endless details can be build upon, thus killing the whole "if you want literal translation read comic books" hals-fass argument. As the person who created this thread, I am here to tell you that this is EXACTLY the point. I decided that whole debate over "He is/isn't the Joker without bleached skin," was stupid and decided that this would be a good way to illuistrate the debate, and, in forcing people to choose where the priorities for the character lie, hopefully force even most hardcore naysayer to admit that, in perspective, this is probably gonna be a cool movie whether Joker wears make-up or whatever.
1. the thing in FF looks bad. it doesnt look like he is out of rock.Since there are several threads about the Joker I posted this in just the two I considered to be more about his look.
Just a quick observation. This might be stretching a bit but it may be a possibility. Nolan isn't a big fan of CGI but it was used in the first one in limited parts. In FF the Thing (Chiklis ) wore a costume which was enhanced by CGI. I remember a still from the first flick that showed Batman running down a corrider in Arkham. In the film he was surrounded by bats that weren't seen in the still.
Is it possible we are not getting the whole picture once again with the stills? Maybe the Joker's (Ledger) skin will be enhanced (colored) with CGI to give him the bleached appearance many seem to be looking for. It seems an easy thing to do with today's technology. The look in the stills (the makeup) are just to help the actors. Just a thought.

Yes...Ah, excuse me for not following your career on the SHH boards. This thread is still pointless because you are making an argument, by your own words, that connects the nature of the Joker`s visage to how cool the movie will be. If TDK featured a 2 hour orgy between Cat Woman, Rachel Dawes and Barbara Gordon it would still be cool, but would it be a good Batman movie? That is the point. We all know the movie will be cool, we are just worried if we will have to bludgeon our inner geeks into submission to enjoy TDK.
