Jordan Peele’’s 'Us'

Yeah I read the movie spoiler for it. Maybe it works better in context, but the twist doesn't really make sense.
I just feel like it’s there for the sake of twisting.

Almost that time.

Good movie, but for me it does not really live up to the hype.

The twist is so predictable tbh. And it cause a plot hole to the film.
I don't get hyped on movies anymore (guess I'm too old lol), but I still get the "really looking forward too" vibe/feeling on some flicks. This was one of them, and this sounds slightly disappointing. Guess I've to watch it for my self to be sure.

Just seen it.
I didnt get to watching Get Out yet, so this is the first Jordan Peele movie I got to see and I must say I dug it! Alot! Im not gonna spoil anything but it is really refreashing for me to see a horror movie that relies on atmosphere and intensity instead of overly dramatic jumpscares. One thing that I REALLY liked was that the creep factor was dialed to 11. Really amazing!!

Yeah that ending will **** you up. Just got out.

Buddy of mine went and said he saw the twist coming from a mile away so he didn't enjoy it

You kinda figured that it was something like that but they didn't fully reveal the origins either.

Well that was a mind ****. I kind of predicted the ending at the beginning but then forgot about it by the end. I think the third act might be a little too big for its own good (especially at explaining the origins of the Tethered), but as a whole, good stuff! Really enjoyed it and the music and visuals were phenomenal. More please, Mr. Peele!

Just saw it... I imagine a lot of the general public will be saying they didn't get it.

I will say that the first VHS tape you see is exactly what kind of movie this ended up being.

Also the t-shirt her dad gets her during the prologue makes a lot of sense regarding the tweest.

Monkeypaw Productions logo was dope. Lupita was amazing.

It was an unexpected treat when this became a full-blown apocalypse film.

No no. Us is still a very very good movie, it’s just not on the same level with Get Out, which I consider to be a masterpiece. The cast is absolutely amazing with Lupita’s exceptional performance.

The twist I figured right at the start of the movie. As it progress I started to doubt myself but the ending truly confirm my prediction :funny:

9/10

Not a better film than Get Out but a far superior horror film. The twist isn't something that you can't see coming, in fact you should see it coming, almost to the point that it doesn't even feel like a twist.

Peele is just great, writing, the comedic timing, his clear knowledge and use of horror tropes, you can tell horror is his passion and he uses it perfectly to weave social commentary as all horror greats have done in the past. Visually Peele on point for the entire film. This is a gorgeous looking film and some of the camera angle choices are inspired. Lupita Nyong'o is magnificent, absolutely amazing and incredible in her dual role. She definitely deserves praise, I almost gave a standing applause for her performance. The rest of the cast was great but Lupita stands far above them. The first 2 acts are great and Peele only has a slight stumble midway through the climax, otherwise this is a 10/10.

Its crazy to think this since he came from the world of sketch comedy, but Peele is the most unique and talented horror director anywhere in the last 10 years.I can't wait to watch this one for a second time.

"Us" was a solid, entertaining, interesting and, well, weird movie. I'd give it a B, but I think that might have more to do with my heightened expectations.

Lupita killed it though. She's already had multiple star turns, but if this doesn't get her more roles, I don't know what will. Winston Duke does well with what he's given, but his character goes from funny to friggin' annoying by the end of the film. The kids are great at their roles as well.

It's definitely well made and Peele's a great writer and directer and it shows on the screen. I'll admit that the film kinda stays with you when it's done in that it gets you asking questions because you'd like to know more about the mythology presented.

As others have said, I called the twist VERY early on, but Peele does a good job of trying to throw you off that path to the point where i doubted my very own prediction.

All in all, it was a great film experience and definitely a great, creative horror film. I recommend it.

Saw this last night and I got to say Jordan Peele hit another one out of the park this one. As people have said u could probably see the twist coming but that doesn’t mean it still causes you to have a bunch of questions.

I will co-sign that there is a lot to "chew on", but I will say that there are some MASSIVE plot holes that were either not explain or I missed the explanation.

I think one of the minor problems Us is getting right now from reviews I'm hearing is the message is unclear. I think folks are expecting a Get Out level message. I think the message in Us is much simpler than people are looking for. If you see it, don't let trying to find meaning overwhelm you, just enjoy it.

As I suspected, the not I think about it the more it improves in my estimation. It requires a second viewing.

I really wish Disney would just go ahead and let him do that live action Gargoyles he mentioned a couple years back.

Going to see it tonight. It is virtually sold out at nearly every major theater near me...

This film was absolutely brilliant and much better than Get Out. I liked GO when I first saw it in theatres but I never loved it. After watching it again on DVD, I lost so much interest in it about 20 minutes in and couldn’t finish the rest. Blah.

Us is a whole other beast and is so much more intricate and sophisticated and dangerous than GO. It has heaps of symbolisms and metaphors and other horror movie references that truly make it a delight. There are things about the film you can talk about for hours with friends, trying to dissect and connect everything. Love when a horror movie can do that (Hereditary was the last one I’ve seen that pulled that off brilliantly).

Love that Jason (a reference to Jason Vorhees?) wanders off at the beach and Lupita panics looking for him. Very in line with that scene in Jaws — and the kid’s even wearing a Jaws shirt to boot! Looooove it.

This film was just so much more feral and the characters much more likeable and funnier, too. I’d give GO a 2/5 whereas I’d give Us a 4/5. Cant wait to see it again and try pointing out all the Easter eggs along the way!
