Josh Trank confirmed to helm Shadow of the Colossus

The problem with Hollywood is the developmental process. I can see this not going anywhere for a while. Vaporware: Stuck in Dev Hell!

Shia LaBouef should play Wander, so he can ride around on his horse, screaming, "NO NO NO!" as the colossi kick the sh** out of each other.

Oh, and Optimus Prime should play the Colossus.

Holy crud. This is like great news!

I believe in Trank. The old script has been scrapped (thankfully).

Have you read the Justin Marks script, Craig? He's the king of textbook Joe Campbell plotting!

He wrote the screenplay for The Legend of Chun Li and that's all I needed to know about the guy. :funny:

I wasn't aware that movie had a script. I thought that camera just followed Kristen Kreuk and Neil McDonough around for two hours and that's what they came up with.

Don't forgot the powerhouse meta performance of Chris Klien!

I'm just glad that Trank had enough pull to have that script scrapped before signing up.

Hosseni Ameni seems perfect for the job to write the script for this along with Trank.

LOL

To quote Mr. Cranky:

"It's hard for me to write the following sentence, but I'm just going to steel myself and type it: Chris Klein is like Keanu Reeves without any talent. There. I've said it. Frankly, I have a hard time even comprehending that sentence and its terrible implications. I look at it and I start to feel the fifth dimension caving in on me. I don't think it's a sentence that was ever meant to be written. It somehow defies the bounds of reality. Yet, it's true."

Sony though, likes to drag their feet with their video game adaptations. Look at Uncharted.

The good/bad thing is that they need a new IP/franchise because of their money problems. That alone gives me hope that this will be greenlit soon. They need it bad and soon.

The great thing about a desperate studio is that it sort of lets the director do his thing. They realize further clutching isn't going to make things better and that praying on a directors vision may end up proving to be the most fruitful & viable option.

At least I hope that's how they'll view it. ;)

This news sure came out of the blue. Trank has shown a lot of promise with Chronicle and the fact that he's a fan of the game means that he'll treat it with respect. I hope Fumito Ueda is still involved with this project.

I can't say I'm excited about this. I think Shadow is one of the finest games ever made and I have no idea how it would translate well to cinema. It seems like something that could only be a video game, if you know what I mean. But I'll reserve judgement until I see more.

I doubt it will happen. Trank apparently has four movies lined up, only one of which has a release date. Directors do this...especially when they are first breaking out like Trank is. Remember back when Alias became a bona fide hit and J.J. Abrams had about ten movies in development before finally doing MI3?

Honestly, I can't see a studio taking a risk like this. I think Trank is developing any project he can at the moment because that is what young, up and coming directors do. They throw **** at the wall and see what sticks. This seems like one of those projects that is destined to fall right off the wall.

Haha, glad you liked my little joke there. In all seriousness, I like Trank (Chronicle was awesome) and I hope this movie does get made because I think he could do a good job with it. I just want ONE video game-based movie to be really good. JUST ONE. The best we've gotten so far was... Prince of Persia, maybe? And even that was just okay. If their going to keep trying to turn these games into movies, then please... TRY to make an awesome film. The current comic book movie craze would never have happened if Batman Begins and Iron Man looked like The Phantom and Steel.

Somebody get this guy a drumset. He's on a roll.

If he plays it like Francis Lawrence did in I Am Legend, where Wander is basically the only character except for maybe one or two more, it could work.

I agree with this. I think he could make a good Shadow of Colossus movie, but I'll be surprised if it comes out

They're really dragging their feet with that one huh? Same with Assassin's Creed.

This will probably see a release before The Last Guardian does. :/
