It's an english comic. Remember dredd was number 1 in cinemas over here when it was released. Biggest comics over here when i was a kid were dandy, beano and 2000ad. Didn't read a marvel comic till i was 12 and they were only really sold in comic book shops which there were very few of even in london.

Really love what I'm hearing! I'm excited that the people behind Battlestar Galactica are behind this. The premise sounds quite intriguing. Seems like they're going for the humor of the comics as well. I hope Karl Urban returns. Still, if he doesn't, I'm sure there must be an inspired choice out there like David Harbour has turned out to be for replacing Ron Perlman as Hellboy.

Wow, I'm actually really excited by this. Even though I'm echoing other thoughts it would be great to get some of the cast like Urban onboard at least. Doesn't need to connect at all to that universe but Urban was a superb Dredd.

Excited about this news for sure, and I may be delusional, but I genuinely think they may have a legit shot at getting Urban back for Dredd. I mean, he hasn't been opposed to TV roles before, and he seemed to really love this role, so I'll be a little disappointed if they don't at least try and get him back. He was great.

Totally agree. I see this being, on a basic level, aptly like a futuristic-Gotham, albeit with more satire.

It depends. The production might want to start completely fresh and not be hampered by how the 2012 movie looked.

Well, having myself mentioned Gotham and as it has also been stated that this will be an ensemble piece, I could see Dredd as the "main hero" like Gordon is in Gotham, but it would likely also put equal focus on other characters like, maybe, Judge Anderson, Judge Hershey, Chopper, Rico, Chief Justice Fargo, Chief Judge Cal, Chief Judge Silver, Chief Judge Griffin, Judge Gibson, The Angel Gang, and Sidney De'Ath(maybe even Walter The Wobot).

we'll see it's not just that. it's the fact as vile one said the show runner may not want thing's linked to the movie and you know how weird some them are about wanting thing their way .

They can still have their way direction wise even linked to something esle. but they don't always like to see thing's that way of late and would likely just say they don't want anything or one that was linked to the movie hampering their vision of their version of what they want judge dredd to be like or any ip .

Hopefully this show runner is open minded.

Being done in the uk by rebellion should mean that it stays close to the source material.
Just really hope they can get a good director and writing team.

There is no rush and plenty of stories to do.
