Judge Dredd: Mega City One

I love the idea of Judge Dredd but never got into it much despite adoring the Dredd movie. I will do my best to check this out though. SO very happy we're getting more.

I think it'd actually be awesome to have him guest star sometimes as a police captain or commissioner or something like that.

I'd love to see him cameo in an isocube screaming 'I am the law' and it mentions that he was arrested for impersonating a Judge. :D

Stallone's 'Judge Dredd' is severely under-rated film, IMO. I rewatched it a year ago and I really liked it.

I will be keeping an eye on this anyway as I used to read JD comics as a kid. But if they managed to get Urban, Thirlby and Garland back my anticipation would go through the roof!

Shhh it's alright we all make mistakes, we'all just pretend no one heard you say that

Stallone's Dredd was more....I guess fun, while Dredd was accurate but more....I guess, cynical and dry humored. Some people favor one over the other when it comes to their popcorn flicks. I feel like the Dark Judges being integrated would help a lot.

I liked both (Judge) Dredd movies for different reasons. The Karl Urban one I like more though.

Think this will be a lot more than just dredd and will have different stories set in mega city one. Different judges investigating different crimes.

He will be the biggest baddest judge but i think they will focus on others aswell. Dredd you could argue was andersons story and it worked. America (arguably his best story) didn't focus on him.

If he is not the big star then that will mean they don't really need a star to play him. As long as the actor is good and fits the role that should be good enough.

This is not to say that dredd will have a bit part though.

It would be funny if they kind of play it as a cop show procedural, with all the trappings it implies, but done in the crazy ass way of the comics.

Think they really have a chance to go in a totally different route to any other comic book show. Am excited for this.
It might turn into something like sin city. Not just focussed on the judges.

If it is episodic and different characters I wonder how you do something big like the dark judges they're not something you can just throw into a single episode and leave it or do without dredd and Anderson being central

They will have small story archs and an overreaching one.
The judges and dredd could be in each episode but you can shift focus sometimes from them to the victim/criminal. See through their eyes what's happening.
Do cursed earth with dredd carrying the vaccine but also have other judges fighting a block war in mega city while he's gone.

The comics were more a soap opera than other comics. I don't want to go that far. But there are many stories they can tell and it could be a fresh take.

Between this and The Witcher its been a good week for tv news.

Agreed. I think this one is very important though if it does well other game studios may decide to make their own series from their properties and recieve financial backing.
There may be a couple of duds but there will be a few successes, more competition is not a bad thing.

I feel like this could have benefitted from its own animated series at some time, like Spawn had on HBO.

Didn't adi shankar make an animated series that was terrible?

I hope this is a continuation of the Dredd movie and they bring back Karl Urban

I kind of have a feeling this will be its own thing. But I hope Dredd's in it and they do explore Joseph Dredd but also the Dark Judges.

Ummm, I'm pretty sure Dredd will be in the Judge Dredd TV series. ;)

He will but the focus will be on mega city. Just as in the title, small "judge dredd" big "mega city".

Judge dredd is a paragon with little room for growth. The series will have to be more than just him as the comic is.

In other words; very much like it has always been in the comics. Very much like Sin City, indeed.

Something that looked like this, maybe? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYUC79D6piw

The animation not withstanding(imo), film was quite neat. It captured the absurd humor of the comics.

I still want Dredd as a major character. If it focuses on too many other characters, I will be disappointed.

I also hope it's nothing like Gotham :D
