Thank goodness you're here, Sam Jackson. We need some motherf***ing sense in this motherf***ing thread.

I don't know who that gal in your avie is, but I would quit the avengers for only a wink good-bye.

Also, it should be pointed out that at no point does the Bible say that there's anything wrong with gay marriage.

Seriously?

Leviticus 13 “‘If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.

Romans 26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.

Let me guess...there's some kind of translating error and the Bible doesn't mean exactly what it says in plan simple language that even a child could understand.
:whatever:

Ezekiel 25:17.

And when the Bible says things like that, that's exactly why I do not follow Christianity.

What a horrible god to worship.

Point to the word "marriage" in either of those passages.

Yeah you have no idea how translating things works, do you?

Leviticus also bans:
-Having unkempt hair
-Tearing your clothes
-Drinking alcohol in holy places
-Mixing fabrics in clothing
-Eating fat
-Planting different seeds in the same fields
-Eating fruit from a tree withing 4 years of planting it
-Drinking blood
-Touching an unclean animal
-Failing to have salts in offerings to God
-Getting tattoos
-Not standing when around the elderly
-Cursing your mother and father (punishable by death)
-Working on the Sabbath

As someone who is a full supporter of the "gay agenda", I feel like I agree with what everyone has said.

The baker shouldn't have discriminated in the first place, but probably shouldn't have been forced by a judge to serve the customer. I do believe in right of refusal, and while I in full support of homosexuals and their rights, I also am in full support of protection of religious beliefs, even if I disagree.

I believe that gays should have full protection under the law to get married. I also believe that a specific church that does not approve should not be forced to do the ceremony.

I do believe that a gay married couple should be able to get a baker to supply their cake. I also believe that a company should not be forced to go against its own values.

Morally, I side with the gay couple. Legally, its very gray due to the discrimination angle but I think I agree with the baker.
You pretty much summed up exactly how I feel on the issue.

But Jesus undid a lot of the things mentioned in your list. He never tackled homosexuality and as a result, that sin is still in place.

He never tackled any of them individually. He just said "forget the old ****."

I have no doubt that the bible condemns homosexual behavior...I just don't see a point in basing my life on a book that's been written and rewritten thousands of times by thousands of PEOPLE...I'd probably be better off basing my life off of Harry potter, there's as much "proof" that is true as there is to the bible and it teaches better life lessons.

Why must we argue? :(

We all know that pie is superior to cake in every facet.

Not that there's anything wrong with liking cake. Especially cheesecake.

Mmmm, cheesecake....

Except for the whole witchcraft dealie. No one likes a witch.

Are you a witch DS?

Fair enough, my mistake. However, did he speak about each one or just said to ignore everything in that part?

Hey, the Bible does say love your fellow man. Some of us take that more literally than others ;-).

I'm being facetious of course. I don't get very involved in the arguments of whether homosexuality is a sin/the Bible condemns it/it's still valid today, etc, because I really, really don't care.

From a "facts of the matter" standpoint, the baker is running a public business, not a church, and they were paying customers. Do all of us agree with the "lifestyle choices" of every customer we serve?

But I'm also not entirely comfortable with suing people into submission. It paints us (gays) in a bad light and gets some people off the fence and opposing us because we look like PC bullies.

Well, if you think about it, cheesecake is really just a custard pie.

Why is it a sin?

IMO it was originally banned because the Jews were concerned about low population and sustaining their people, which homosexuality obviously was not conducive toward (no artificial insemination or sperm donors back in the day).

Which of course has absolutely nothing to do with anything g today...
