Sci-Fi Tron: Ares with Jared Leto

Or they're all just Nazis.

I was a lot kinder towards Tron Legacy on a rewatch. But frankly, I am surprised reviews are 55% currently. I expected low 40s. But reviews are consistent with what Tron seems to always be: impressive tech and visuals, okay story at best

$50M is like double what I would have guessed its opening weekend box office would be.

I imagine with time, Ares will go down a little more. I think Tron Legacy has aged pretty well, and should get re-examined

I mean. Even the Tron score isn’t correct cause contemporary reviews are mixed in. I’d be more curious to see what it would be with only its 1982 reviews.

I'm a big fan of Legacy. But I also think it isn't a good movie, so I fear a lot of retro reviews would be full of nostalgia.

It depends on what you define as a good movie. Tron Legacy from a stylistic and visual standpoint is awesome. From a script standpoint, it has many issues. I am usually a story comes first guy, which is why I wouldn't call Tron Legacy a GREAT movie. But I think it is a GOOD movie

That's why for movies older than say 2000, I never use RT

For me, characters always come first. The movie has no characters. Even Qurroa, by far the most memorable part of the film imo, is a wisp of a character.

Like I said, I agree with you from that standpoint. I just think the visual elements are so good that I think it overcomes that and makes it a good movie IMO. I also looks even better than a lot of contemporary films now by a mile, excluding Jeff Bridges deaging effects. The script has been a weak element for both prior Tron films, and reviews would indicate that applies here as well to Ares
