Action-Adventure Jumanji 4

I think Variety didn't think the Robin Williams one counted. :funny:
It's kind of easy to separate them since they're so different but it's easy to forget that the last one shoehorned the aunt from the OG movie so it's all connected.

I was puzzled by the “4” for a moment before I realized “Oh yeah, this is technically a follow-up to the Robin Williams movie, and not just it’s own new franchise.”

Wonder how they’re going to handle picking up from that cliffhanger tease at the end of the last film with all of the actors having aged six years. Are they just going to ignore it and pretend like no time has passed, or are they going to write in some in-universe way of immediately trying to solve the issue of the game escaping into the real world and explain why the main cast looks older?

Maybe they use that passage of time element from the original film where when Alan won the game he reset back to the age he was as a kid when he started the game. Maybe with this film you do the opposite and just say the game is still screwed up and it slightly messed with their ages by adding a few years? I don’t know.

Also, you know, Rock not having his size anymore.
That's the biggest difference for sure. Everyone else looks more or less the same. Jack Black might have a little more gray in his beard but nothing a dye job can't fix.

Bebe Neuwirth, Danny DeVito, Lamorne Morris, Marin Hinkle, Nick Jonas and Rhys Darby are also on the call sheet for production, which began this week in Los Angeles with director Jake Kasdan.

Dan Hildebrand (Game of Thrones) and Jack Jewkes (Criminal Minds) have also joined the production as a new cast members.

This is a very different time. And those Star Wars movies didn't clear 2 bil WW.
Jumanji is still kind of counterprogramming for families who are too young for Dune and not committed enough for Doomsday. If The Next Level fared fine against Frozen 2 during the 2019 holiday season, this one should be okay. Granted, I don't think it'll be quite as big as the last two since the last movie came out before Covid but there's no Shrek 5 in its way anymore that would damn it for sure.

If Doomsday and Dune both come out, which is still a doubt, but if they do. No, it won't be alright. Frozen 2 is a bad comp. It came out in the usual pre-Thanksgiving slot. This is would be actual December. Both movies hit the same demos as Jumanji. Dune 3 will increase, Doomsday will do at least 1.5b.

The Rock has hilarious made himself streaming guy. The one people wait to see at home.
